lvent dispose of chlorinated wastes from Pyralène electrical transformers and
condensers in complete safety (liquid chlorinated waste, PCBs and PCB-
solvent blends, and water contaminated with chlorinated products).
PCBs extracted from transformers and oils are incinerated at
Elf Atochem's approved centre on its Saint-Auban site (Alpes-de-
Haute-Provence, south eastern France).
Components and materials from transformers and condensers are
decontaminated using the Aprochim process, whereby a complete stripping
allows access to pockets of contamination inside the transformers.
Aprochim operates its decontamination plant at Grez-en-Bouere
(Mayennne, south of Normandy).
PCBs are taken to Elf Atochem's Saint-Auban plant by either rail/road contai-
ners or road tankers complying with RTM/ADR/RID transport regulations.
