Presente Simple y Continuo
El verbo to be (ser o estar) tiene tres formas de uso en presente simple: am, is y are,
según la persona gramatical que estemos usando.
Persona Ejemplo
Tercera plural Mike and Louise are inside the car. (Mike y Louise están dentro del carro).

Verbos
Continous.
Stative verbs: verbos de estado(be, cost, fit, mean, remain, suit)
Ej:They are on holiday.
Verbos que expresan posesión o pertenencia( belong, have)
Ej:The ring belongs to Frodo.
Verbos referidos a los sentidos(feel, hear, see smell, taste, touch)
Ej:They hear the loudspeaker announcement.
Verbos que expresan emociones(hate, hope, like, love, prefer, regret, want, wish)
Ej: Harry Potter loves going by train.
Verbos de pensamiento y reconocimiento(believe, know, realise, recognise, seem,
think, understand)
Ej:He knows where they have to get off the train.
Cláusulas del discurso directo(answer, ask, reply, say)
Ej: «We must hurry to get the train», Harry’s father says.
be) + el verbo en gerundio finalizado en –ing: “He is reading a book”. En las oraciones
negativas, por otro lado, se añade el auxiliar negativo al verbo to be (“The man is not
talking”).
work…”, “You work…”, “We work…”. En cambio, con “she”, “he” o “it”, es necesario
She works…”, “He works…”, “It works…”.

PRESENT SIMPLE:
PRESENT CONTINUOUS
I - AM
She/he/it - IS
You/we/they - ARE
A continuación, te presentamos
- He hardly ever walks in the park (el casi nunca camina en el parque)
- She always brushes her hair (ella siempre cepilla su cabello)
FACTS (hechos)
PRESENT CONTINUOUS
RIGHT NOW
Por ejemplo, te has
y me gusta. (I am doing well, I am studying English and I like it) Este es un ejemplo
FUTURE
- He is participating in the race next week (él participará en la carrera mañana)
- She is presenting her project next month (ella presentará su Proyecto el
próximo mes)
- They are traveling next year (ellos viajarán el próximo mes)
Ejemplo: Walk straight along this road, continue on this side of the road until you see the
traffic lights and then take the second on the left.
¡Importante!
I call her every day I do not call her every day Do I call her every day?
It calls her every day It does not call her every Does it call her every day?
day
We call her every day We do not call her every Do we call her every day?
day
They call her every They do not call her every Do they call her every
day day day?
To undergo He undergoes
To reach He reaches
To fix He fixes
To fly He flies
To try She tries
To carry He carries
To stay He stays
Afirmativa
He DOES
She
It
Negativa
He DOES NOT
She
It
Interrogativa
DOES he
she
it
Afirmativo
Pronombre Verbo To be
I am
You are
He is
She is
It is
We are
They are
Negativo
Pronombre Verbo To be
I am not
He is not
She is not
It is not
We are not
They are not
Interrogativo Verbo To be
Auxiliar Sujeto
Am I?
Are you?
Is he?
Is she?
Is it?
Are we?
Are they?
modal verbs (can, must, may).
Incorrecto Correcto
Your baby cans say many words Your baby can say many words
He musts take all this medicine He must take all this medicine
She mays see him tomorrow She may see him tomorrow
Negativo Interrogativo
Your baby cannot say many words Can your baby say many words?
He must not take all this medicine Must he take all this medicine?
She may not see him tomorrow May she see him tomorrow?
