Awesome, really good for an epiphone.
Got this guitar for my birthday, was the best gift. As it's a Les Paul, my back is begging me to get a different guitar, gets lighter overtime. The tone is good, even with the pick-ups that come stock. Due to sweat, or anything other, the pick-ups lose the gold-ish tone, and start to become silver. On the terms of sound, it is bold. Sounds like a strong statement, that changes the world every time it's said. The neck pick-up is smooth, soft, and deep. On the other hand, the bridge pick-up is punchy, aggressive, and loud (in a good way). The neck itself feels good, easy to slide quick, and is not that thick.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Usually I use a Metal Zone by Boss with this, and a Blues Driver by Boss, going through my VOX VT40x.

It's a Les Paul!
It's a Les Paul, nothing more and nothing less. Wish it had coil splits though for its price, the cheaper Les Paul Studio by Epiphone is $300 less and includes coil splits :v

Fantastic Value
If you want to save a few thousand dollars on a Les Paul Custom this one is one to drool over The build has great attention to detail in quality. It is a bit less in the dynamic range in sound than its Gibson counterpart but not much. It’s neck is less sticky than the Gibson, has Grover tuners, Probuckers 2 and 3 at the bridge and neck respectively. Just a beautiful guitar. I have the “ black beauty”

Its Unique
I love it it has more of a mellow sound to it but I use it to get a different sound from my other guitars but its still a great guitar.

My Sunburst LP Custom copy
Had this sturdy son of a bitch since 1998. I have tried breaking it on stage once to now avail, the strap button got ripped out once sending it flying into a crowd of people only to have a crack in the laquer under the tone pot. I honestly believe that with Epiphone you truly get your moneys worth. Its still the nicest guitar I own to play. Apart from a loose wire it has never let me down and it has been present at every gig I have played. I have no problem with the craftsmanship of most Epiphones (I did play a Casino once that was god awful), they will never have the attention to detail a Gibson will have but they are still very nice guitars in their own right. The only thing that lets them down time and time again are the electronics. The pickups are usually pretty crappy and the pots are fairly unresponsive. But sink $300 into it and you will have a guitar that individual to you and sounds great but still at a fraction of the cost of its Gibson counter-part.

Awesome Rock Machine
I always wanted a les paul, but couldn't afford a gibson, so i snagged this epiphone les paul custom a few years ago, and i love it! I made some upgrades to the original guitar (new pickups, straplocks, locking tuners). I use it still, to this day when i play live gigs. Feels exactly like a gibson. Solid, heavy, but has a great tone!

My Main LP
I have had this Les Paul for about a decade. It is still bone stock, and it works like a beauty. It plays better than any other Epiphone I have picked up, as well as most Gibsons that are less than $1500. I run 9-42 on it, and it plays like butter. Great tone, great feel.

I love this guitar...
Great overall, workhorse guitar. I should probably put some new pickups in it, but it is great for my recording needs and is a great guitar for multiple genres. I have toyed with the idea of putting Fishman pickups in it, but it's great stock too!

Kick myself every day for selling it
Good lord, this thing is ridiculous. I mean heavy, but ridiculous in a good way. Now I'm not sure if they come stock, but mine had Grover tuners on it. The tone and sustain was incredible, I mean it really is a Gibson but without their name on the headstock. You may already know Gibson is the parent company to Epiphone, but I'm telling you that if you feel ridiculous (you should) for shelling out anywhere over a grand (which you will) on an above-average Gib LP, then give this thing a try. I don't believe you will be disappointed.
STILL trying to get mine back from my old rhythm guitarist from High School..

why would I feel ridiculous spending big on a quality guiiar? its nice to go cheaper, but not if there's 500 bucks differenc between the epi and the Gibson and if you are talking about the current Indonesian and chinese 'pro' epis versus any pre-govt-raid LP custom? Well I would spend the extra coin on a payed-in odler Gibby instead of buying 2 or 3 epis....

I feel you. I dunno, I have alot of equip and my dad has even more, the more the merrier? As far as the USA brands (GIB, FNDR, uh.. G&L, PRS) I would drop maybe up to a grand on them, as I did for my Gibson (eh, maybe like seven or eight hundo), then past that It just feels like grasping at straws. My mind just changed recently I was a strictly Epiphone (but really just Gibson) then I saw what the Far East could do in terms of matching Gib sound, quality of the guitar, quality pickups tuning pegs. I guess my point is, if the name isn't on the guitar, but you have a guitar made out of the SAME wood, same/similar tuning pegs/bridge/pickups... but its made in CHINA instead of America... Is it then really not as good as our stuff? Unsure at this point, I'm torn good sir. And I should probably revise my statement, the wording for "feeling ridiculous for buying an above a grand guitar" sounds a bit mean and degrading, and I didn't mean to come across that way, sorry bro.

The one thing I will say and I'm not being rude, I do wish that like you, I could consider $500 a small margin to account for in the pricing difference between the daughter company's model and the parent company's.. sounds like your doing well sir. haha

My current #1
After having my heart set on a Gibson Les Paul, I set out to play everything I could at the local guitar shops. Bottom line was, after playing about 4 or 5 of them, none were speaking to me. The salesman asked if I wanted to try another and on accident he grabbed the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro. I told him I would give it a try anyway and I liked it better than the Gibson's I played prior! So I purchased it and to this day it's still my #1 guitar in the arsenal. The neck is great, plays like a dream, and the Probucker pickups are impressive. Job well done by Epiphone on this one.

“I started working with Epiphone a little less than a year ago and they introduced me to this one, which is the 1955 Custom. It has a huge neck and it’s literally like a baseball bat neck and I love that. It has the jumbo frets so you can dig in a little more. And Leslie West from Mountain is one of my guitar heroes and he had a Les Paul Junior so this is like the marriage between a big Custom and a Junior.”
