Just Asking (Don't Mind)
This may sound irrelevant and irritating, but can you please name your favourite (fav) aircraft and fav airline BuddyHeigh (talk) 14:45, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- I like a lot of aircraft, such as 4th gen fighters like the F-15. Also AH-1, AH-64, UH-60 helicopters. I have probably flown mostly with Delta and their network. So I'll go with Delta. Regards -Fnlayson (talk) 14:57, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- You must have seen all-time fav aircraft being the Boeing 747. Since I was a child, I had fascination in the aircraft. I first flew in it with Air India in 1986. After that, I flew in it at least 5-6 times. And the most recent one was in 2022, when I rode with Lufthansa, and their blend of classic seating and modernized seating made it my fav airline. BuddyHeigh (talk) 18:38, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- I really like the 747 but have never flown on one. I did get to tour in and around a Boeing 747-400 Dreamlifters one time. The DC-10 and L-1011 are the largest airliners I've flown on. The CRJ700 is probably the smallest airliner I've flown on for connector flights. -Fnlayson (talk) 21:49, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- I remember the Maharaja grand interiors inside the jumbo. Additionally, I got a spot for t-tails like the Boeing 717 and McDonnell Douglas MD-80 Series. For regional flyers, I'll go for the Cessna 208B Caravan. From good ol' Boeing, I have the spot for the 747, 767 and 777. Fokkers like Friend and Fellowship also hold a place. From Airbus, the A300, 320-200s,330neo and the 380 are my favourites. The British Concorde is unforgettable. Lockheeds like L-1011 TriStars and L-188 Electras are in my list. I also like McDonnell Douglas' DC-9, DC-10-30, MD-11, MD-80 Series and MD-90 Series. I also have a like for Russo-Soviet aircraft like Ilyushin Il-62 and Il-96, Tupelov Tu-134, Tu-154, Tu-204 and Tu-214 and Yakovlev Yak-42, Yak-82 and MC-21. BuddyHeigh (talk) 14:13, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- You've flown on the DC-10? Man, I've been dreaming of flying on one and that day might never happen but dang. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 16:53, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- That was probably around 1998 to early 2000s. The DC-10 (& maybe L-1011 too) had cabin seating with 5 seats in the middle and a hung-over guy tried to lay across all the middle seats when boarding began. The flight attendant made him get in his seat. :) I was in a seat near the windows. -Fnlayson (talk) 17:12, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah I remember those good ol' days of aviation in the 90s. I hate this world of aviation full of ugly twinjets like the 320. I remember those days when the jumbos and tribirds filled the skies with pleasure and luxury. Of course I flew on the those tri-behemoths, the 1011 and -10. The Jumbo, yeah of course I miss it. I flew on a Cubana-luckily it is still in service. When I stepped in the Swiss MD-11, it was pure bliss. And I was traumatized to discover that after a few days, it crashed as Flight 111. I'm planning to fly a jumbo next year. I flew on Mauritius 330neo, next time I'll go for Condor or Aircalin. Do you guys have any future plane plans? Did you ever ride a jumbo, my fav plane? BuddyHeigh (talk) 20:36, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
- Well, I'm planning to visit my home county, India, as well as Uganda in late 2025. I might use Lufthansa's Boeing 747-800 Intercontinental or its Dreamliner or the Boeing 777-9X (If introduced). Sadly, I haven't been on a Jumbo yet. Knowing the fact you were on an aircraft which crashed days later as Swissair Flight 111 is in fact distressing. Today is September 2 so it has been exactly 26 years since HB-IWF crashed. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 00:10, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- The higher humidity used on the 787 might make it worthwhile for the trip, especially for a long intercontinental trip, imo. -Fnlayson (talk) 22:22, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 22:35, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

AIM-174
Thank you for the support regarding re-naming AIM-174B to "AIM-174." I managed to get the discussion re-opened after a "no consensus" closure, so that is a good step, but I suppose we'll see. Seems like an obvious measure to me, but we must remember this is Wikipedia, lol. cheers MWFwiki (talk) 21:02, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
