Structural safety assessment of concrete tunnel lining subjected to fire / de Silva, D (Naples U.) ; Andreini, M (CERN) ; Bilotta, A (Naples U.) ; De Rosa, G (Naples U.) ; La Mendola, S (CERN) ; Nigro, E (Naples U.) ; Rios, O (CERN)
The basis of a possible fire design and verification approach to the linings of RC tunnels, using the performance-based approach, is presented. Starting from an extensive literature review, a selection of the most relevant tunnel fires was analysed. [...]

Identification and characterization of design fires and particle emissions to be used in performance‐based fire design of nuclear facilities / Perović, Darko (Lund U.) ; Van Hees, Patrick (Lund U.) ; Madsen, Dan (Lund U.) ; Malmborg, Vilhelm (Lund U.) ; Gren, Louise (Lund U.) ; Pagels, Joakim (Lund U.) ; Rios, Oriol (CERN) ; La Mendola, Saverio (CERN)
CERN operates one of the most complex particle accelerator facilities in the world.Several different hazards, including fires, are present and need to be investigated and reduced to a tolerable level. Toward this goal, CERN aims at developing a catalog containing detailed fire dynamics descriptions of combustible items present in its facilities. [...]

The effect of oxygen concentration on selected industrial products in the open controlled atmosphere cone calorimeter / Barton, John (Lund U.) ; Rios, Oriol (CERN) ; Runefors, Marcus (Lund U.) ; van Hees, Patrick (Lund U.)
Past research on the effect of oxygen concentration on the heat release rate and car-bon monoxide yield has focused on materials in isolation and there is a lack ofresearch that studies end-use products. This paper investigates the effect of oxygenconcentration on the heat release rate per unit area (HRRPUA) and carbon monoxideyield for two different cables and a mineral oil used as an operating fluid for vacuumpumps. Fire risks and hazards with Li-ion batteries / Rios, Oriol (speaker) (CERN)
Seminar on Li-ion batteries Fire Safety by Petra Andersson Dr Petra Andersson (RISE/ Lund University) Petra Andersson has worked with fire research for more than 20 years. She obtained her PhD in Fire Safety engineering at Lund University in 1997 and has since then worked with Fire Research at RISE (former SP) with various research topics such as fire detection, functional performance during fires, extinguishment and environmental effects [...]

R&D of a real-size mosaic MRPC within the framework of the CMS muon upgrade / CMS RPC Collaboration
Based on previous experience and attempt, a real-size mosaic Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chamber (MRPC) has been developed within the framework of the CMS muon upgrade efforts. The chamber is a 5-gap with plates made each of 6 pieces of low resistive glass. [...]

Evaluating Mixed-Precision Arithmetic for 3D Generative Adversarial Networks to Simulate High Energy Physics Detectors / Ríos, John Osorio (Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) ; Armejach, Adrià (Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) ; Khattak, Gulrukh (CERN) ; Petit, Eric (Unlisted, FR) ; Vallecorsa, Sofia (CERN) ; Casas, Marc (Barcelona, Polytechnic U.)
Several hardware companies are proposing native Brain Float 16-bit (BF16) support for neural network training. The usage of Mixed Precision (MP) arithmetic with floating-point 32-bit (FP32) and 16-bit half-precision aims at improving memory and floating-point operations throughput, allowing faster training of bigger models. Virtual Reality, Safety and Human Behaviour! / Rios, Oriol (speaker) (CERN)
The use of Virtual Reality (VR) environments opens the door to conduct hazard-free experiments aimed at understanding how people would behave in case of an emergency. The exploration of this systems would help to better design safety systems in complex scenarios to increase its safety robustness in case of unwanted events..

R and D towards future CMS RPC upgrades / CMS Collaboration
High pseudo-rapidity region of CMS muon system is covered only by Cathode Strip Chambers (CSC) and lacks redundant coverage despite the fact that it is a challenging region for muons in terms of backgrounds and momentum resolution. In order to maintain good efficiency for the muon trigger in this region additional RPC are planned to be installed in stations RE31 and RE41. [...]

High rate, fast timing Glass RPC for the high ${\eta}$ CMS muon detectors / on behalf of CMS RPC collaboration
The HL-LHC phase is designed to increase by an order of magnitude the amount of data to be collected by the LHC experiments. To achieve this goal in a reasonable time scale the instantaneous luminosity would also increase by an order of magnitude up to $6.10^{34} cm^{-2} s^{-1}$ . [...]

Detector Control System and Efficiency Performance for CMS RPC at GIF++ / on behalf of the CMS Collaboration
In the framework of the High Luminosity LHC upgrade program, the CMS muon group built several different RPC prototypes that are now under test at the new CERN Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF++). A dedicated Detector Control System has been developed using the WinCC-OA tool to control and monitor these prototype detectors and to store the measured parameters data..
