Targets and ion sources at CERN-ISOLDE — Facilities and developments
/ Rothe, S (CERN) ; Au, M (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Ballof, J (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Barbero, E (CERN) ; Bissell, M (CERN) ; Boucherie, A (CERN) ; Bovigny, M (CERN) ; Chrysalidis, K (CERN) ; Crepieux, B (CERN) ; Cruikshank, J (CERN) et al.
At the CERN-ISOLDE radioactive ion beam facility, thick targets are irradiated using a beam of 1.4-GeV protons. One of ISOLDE’s key features is the large choice of ion source types and target materials available, enabling us to select the ideal combination for optimal intensity and purity of the isotopes requested by ISOLDE users. Located at CERN, ISOLDE is one of the world’s lead-ing research facilities in the field of nuclear science. Radioactive Ion Beams (RIBs) are produced when 1.4 GeV protons transferred from the Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) to the facility impinge on one of the two available targets. [...]

In experimental physics, computer algorithms are used to make decisions to perform measurements and different types of operations. To create a useful algorithm, the optimization parameters should be based on real time data. [...]

Integrating IoT Devices Into the CERN Control and Monitoring Platform
/ Copy, Brice (CERN) ; Bräger, Matthias (CERN) ; Papageorgiou Koufidis, Alexander (CERN) ; Piselli, Emiliano (CERN) ; Prieto Barreiro, Ivan (CERN)
The CERN Control and Monitoring Platform (C2MON) offers interesting features required in the industrial controls domain to support Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios. This paper aims to highlight the main advantages of a cloud deployment solution, in order to support large-scale embedded data acquisition and edge computing. [...]

Electromagnetic properties of low-lying states in neutron-deficient Hg isotopes: Coulomb excitation of $^{182}$Hg, $^{184}$Hg, $^{186}$Hg and $^{188}$Hg
/ Wrzosek-Lipska, K (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab ; Leuven U.) ; Rezynkina, K (Leuven U. ; U. Strasbourg) ; Bree, N (Leuven U.) ; Zielińska, M (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab ; IRFU, Saclay) ; Gaffney, L P (Liverpool U. ; Leuven U. ; CERN ; West Scotland U.) ; Petts, A (Liverpool U.) ; Andreyev, A (Leuven U. ; York U., England) ; Bastin, B (Leuven U. ; GANIL) ; Bender, M (Lyon, IPN) ; Blazhev, A (Cologne U.) et al.
The neutron-deficient mercury isotopes serve as a classical example of shape coexistence, whereby at low energy near-degenerate nuclear states characterized by different shapes appear. The electromagnetic structure of even-mass $^{182-188}$ Hg isotopes was studied using safe-energy Coulomb excitation of neutron-deficient mercury beams delivered by the REX-ISOLDE facility at CERN. Status of the beam profile measurements at the LHC
/ Trad, G (CERN) ; Baud, G (CERN) ; Bravin, E (CERN) ; Dehning, B (CERN) ; Ferroluzzi, M (CERN) ; Goldblatt, A (CERN) ; Piselli, E (CERN) ; Roncarolo, F (CERN) ; Storey, J (CERN) ; Veyrat, Q (CERN)
During LS1, the various instruments for beam profile measurement at the LHC were
upgraded to cope with the beam energy increase. In this contribution, a review
of the status of the synchrotron radiation monitors, the beam gas ionization
monitors, the beam gas vertex detector and the wirescanners will be presented
alongside the assessment of the obtained performance. [...]

Coulomb excitation of (31)Mg

/MINIBALL ; REX-ISOLDE
The ground state properties of 31 Mg indicate a change of nuclear shape at N=19 with a deformed Jπ=1/2+ intruder state as a ground state, implying that 31 Mg is part of the “island of inversion”. The collective properties of excited states were the subject of a Coulomb excitation experiment at REX-ISOLDE, CERN, employing a radioactive 31 Mg beam. [...]
