This ’32 Ford Highboy roadster was built by Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop of Louisville, Tennessee, to be given away at the 2012 Shades of the Past car show in Pigeon Forge. The fiberglass body is finished in metallic blue and features engine covers, LED taillights, and a power-operated trunk lid, and the cabin is outfitted with a Lokar shifter, Classic Instruments gauges, a Billet Specialties steering wheel, and dark blue leather upholstery that was fitted by Pro Auto Custom Interiors. The 350ci V8 is equipped with a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a billet accessory drive setup, and power is routed through a three-speed automatic transmission and a Currie 9″ rear end. Sanderson headers flow to MagnaFlow mufflers, and the car rides on a Pete & Jake’s front suspension and a four-link rear setup with coilovers. This ’32 highboy by the selling dealer in North Carolina with a Tennessee title.
The fiberglass roadster bodywork is finished in metallic blue and is fitted to a color-matching tubular frame. Build details include a hinged hood, a raked windshield, engine side covers, LED taillights, and a power-operated trunk lid. Close-up photos of the paint, trim, and imperfections are provided in the gallery.
Billet Specialties 17×7” front and 20×10” rear wheels wear polished lips and bronze centers, and they are mounted with 215/40 Fullway front tires and 295/45 Hankook rubber out back. The car rides on a Pete & Jake’s chrome drop axle with radius rods and tube shocks up front, and a four-link rear setup with adjustable coilovers is found out back. The unassisted front disc brakes feature drum-style covers.
The cabin treatment was designed by Steve Holcomb’s Pro Auto Custom Interiors, and the blue leather bench seat is complemented by matching door panels. The door release actuators are mounted on the outboard rear panels, and details include a Lokar shifter, lap belts, chrome sill plates, and blue square-weave carpets.
The Billet Specialties steering wheel sits on a tilting column, and the body-color dashboard fascia houses a suite of blue-dial Classic Instruments gauges with “Shades of the Past” branding. The five-digit odometer shows 5k miles.
The 350ci V8 was installed during the build, and it breathes through a Holley four-barrel carburetor atop an Edelbrock intake manifold. Details include a body-color air cleaner and valve covers, an electric cooling fan, and a Billet Specialties accessory drive setup. Sanderson headers flow to a dual exhaust system with glasspack mufflers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TCI TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a Currie Enterprises 9″ rear end with a polished housing. Various underbody components have been refinished to match the body.
The vehicle is titled under the VIN on the identification tag displayed above, and the current Tennessee title lists a “specially constructed vehicle” remark.
