Vortec-Powered 1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4×4
This 1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer has spent much of its life in Oregon, according to the seller, who acquired the vehicle in 2022. A subsequent refurbishment and modifications involved installing a a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 using a Dirty Dingo front crossmember and refinishing the truck in blue and white over a blue vinyl and cloth interior. Details include a three-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, an aluminum radiator, a blue-finished roll bar, and a white removable hardtop as well as a RetroSound stereo, an Old Air Products air conditioning system, 15″ rally wheels, and power-assisted front disc brakes. This K5 Blazer is now offered by the seller on behalf of his father, the current owner, with service records, refurbishment photos, and a clean Connecticut title.
The body was removed from the frame and refinished in metallic blue and white during the refurbishment completed in 2023. Features include a white removable hardtop, woodgrain lower body moldings, and dual side mirrors. The seller notes the grille, headlights, taillights, and marker lamps were replaced along with the weatherstripping and seals.
Silver-finished rally 15″ wheels are mounted over manually locking hubs up front, and they are wrapped in 33×12.5″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. A Rancho steering stabilizer is installed, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in blue vinyl with patterned cloth inserts, and a body-color roll bar is bolted behind the front seats. Interior appointments include a body-color dash panel, a center console, and lap belts. An Old Air Products air conditioning system is installed along with a RetroSound stereo with kick-panel speakers.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer alongside gauges for fuel level, battery charging, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 67k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter Vortec V8 was installed during the 2023 refurbishment using a Dirty Dingo crossmember and motor mounts. An aluminum radiator is installed along with dual electric cooling fans, and the dual exhaust system utilizes Flowmaster Flow FX mufflers.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
