In this study, whether the school climate and motivation levels differ according to gender and year of study also been examined. The "School Climate Scale for University Students" and "Adult Motivation Scale" were applied to 322 participants aged between 18 and 40. Correlational survey model was used in this study. Pearson correlation coefficient was examined to investigate the relationship between school climate and motivation. The effects of university students' school climate on motivation were analyzed using the regression analysis technique. T-test and one-way analysis of variance technique were used to investigate whether the school climate and motivation differed according to gender and year of study. Descriptive survey model and document analysis were used to conduct the study. A content analysis approach was used to analyse the data obtained. By making general evaluation in the analysed articles according to their subjects, research design and methods, data collection tools, sampling types, genders of the researchers and the publishing years of the articles, the tendency in this field was aimed to be determined. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the subjects of the articles are mostly related to instruction levels curriculum, tendencies in education, teacher training, education reform, and teaching approaches. Öz Hizmet içi eğitim günümüzde çağı yakalayabilmek ve mesleki gelişimi artırabilmek için gerekli ... more Öz Hizmet içi eğitim günümüzde çağı yakalayabilmek ve mesleki gelişimi artırabilmek için gerekli görülmektedir. Çalışanların görevini etkili ve verimli bir şekilde yerine getirebilmesi, eğitim, bilgi ve becerilerinin güncellemesi hizmet içi eğitim sayesinde olmaktadır. Bu araştırma, ortaokullarda görevli branş öğretmenlerine yönelik olarak düzenlenen hizmet içi eğitim faaliyetlerinin etkililiğini ve öğret-menlerin bu faaliyetlere ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesini amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada, nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgubilim kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama yöntemi olarak yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. 12 branş öğretmeni ile görüşme yapılarak veriler elde edilmiştir. Branş öğretmenleri Zonguldak, Batman, Düzce ve Hakkari'den seçilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, öğretmenlerin hizmet içi eğitim etkinliklerinin gerekli olduğunu, yalnız hizmet eğitimin verildiği za-man, veren kişiler ve verilirken kullanılan yöntem ve teknikler konusunda olumsuz tutuma sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin tamamı en az bir hizmet içi eğitim seminerine katıldıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Öğretmenler, yapılan hizmet içi eğitimlerden üst düzeyde bir yarar sağlanabilmesi için yeniliklere gidilmesi gerektiğini belirtmişlerdir. Araştırmada yer alan bulgu-lar ışığında, hizmet içi eğitimlerin öğretmenlerin ihtiyacına ve eğitimin verileceği zamana dikkat edilerek yapılandırılması önerilmektedir. Araştırma, Zonguldak ilinde bulunan dört ortaokulda görev yapmakta olan sekiz Sosyal Bilgiler dersi öğretmenin görüşleri alınarak yapılmıştır. The aim of this study is to compare Canada 5th grade Science lesson curriculum and Turkey 5th gra... more The aim of this study is to compare Canada 5th grade Science lesson curriculum and Turkey 5th grade Science lesson curriculum in terms of educational philosophy, objectives, learning areas and assessment. This study is a cross-national comparative education research. The collected data were analyzed comparatively by using document analysis as a qualitative analysis method. According to results; when analyzed the objectives of curriculum and teaching philosophy, it was determined that the most basic point was to educate science literate individuals and to train individuals who have gained scientific thinking skills. When analyzed learning areas in the curriculum, five different learning areas in curriculum used in Turkey, while in Canada curriculum was seen that four different learning areas. When the assessment tools used in Turkey is investigated, objective-oriented techniques for making an assessment and self-assessment system are used. In Canada, it was determined that a measurement assessment system was implemented based on achievement levels.

Araştırma sonucunda, Türkçe 6, 7, 8. sınıf öğretim programında yer alan okuma becerileri kazanımlarının, PISA'nın çoğunlukla birinci, ikinci ve üçüncü düzeylerindeki okuma becerileri yeterlikleri ile örtüştüğü tespit edilmiştir. Abstract: The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the PISA reading proficiencies correspond to the objectives in the Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grades curricula; and whether the results of the PISA reading skills test vary according to class levels in 7th, 8th and 9th grades. Survey design was used in the study. The Assessment Criteria Form for Curriculum Analysis, a Questionnaire and the PISA Reading Skills Test were used for data collection. It was determined as a result of the study, that there was a partial correspondence between the PISA reading proficiencies and the objectives in the Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grades curricula of MoNE, and that the partial corresponding objectives corresponded to the reading proficiencies on the lower level of PISA.
The aim of the study is to investigate Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grade textbooks according to the PIS... more The aim of the study is to investigate Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grade textbooks according to the PISA Reading Skills Assessment Framework. Descriptive research design was used in the study. The format and types of reading texts in Turkish 6th, 7th and 8th grade textbooks were examined in terms of “text form, text type, text approach, text usage purposes" in the framework of PISA reading skills assessment. As a result of the document analysis, the characteristics of the texts included in the PISA reading skills assessment framework and in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks were presented in the tables. Findings were interpreted by frequency tables. According to the findings of the research, Turkish textbooks did not contain non-continuous texts consisting of lists, tables, graphics, schemas, course schedules, catalogues, indexes and forms. It was determined that there were no mixed and multiple text in Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grade textbooks. Mostly narration text types were available in Turkish textbooks. Furthermore; it was determined that argumentation and instruction text types were not available in the textbooks. As a result of the study; it was obvious that there was no variety amongst the texts in the books according to PISA reading literacy, and that most texts were narratives. Based on the research results, it is recommended that Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grade textbooks should be re-written in line with opinions of experts, academicians, copywriters and teachers.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate instructors' views and perspectives on using technology in English Language Teaching. This study was designed within a phenomenological framework. The experiences of four English Language instructors at different universities in Turkey during the using of technology into language classroom practice were studied through a qualitative in-depth interview. These instructors were selected based on maximum variation sampling method. A semi-structured interview schedule was designed by the researcher to determine how instructors perceive using technology and implement it in the classroom. A qualitative content analysis approach was used to analyse the data obtained. The descriptive qualitative analysis resulted in five themes. The main themes were the institution's view of technology, students' and instructors' background knowledge of technology, technological equipment used, information and communication technologies and professional experience. The results showed that widespread use of technology in language teaching is one of the necessities which our constantly developing world presents us.

A successful and qualified postgraduate education is rather important for especially underdeveloped and developing countries in order to raise this manpower that is highly needed. Due to these reasons, there is a need for giving importance to postgraduate education and solving the problems in the field (Sevinç, 2001). In this study, it is aimed to determine the problems that the individuals studying postgraduate education at Institute of Education Sciences encounter and to offer solutions concerning the problems encountered. In this study, qualitative research method and phenomenological research was used. The participants studied postgraduate education in different majors and departments in the Institute of Education Sciences at a state university Data of the study was collected with semi-structured interview schedule designed by the researchers. The data collected in the study were analyzed by content analysis technique. The study findings revealed that postgraduate students had mainly problems of foreign language and Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES), problems of getting permission from their institution or school, communication problem with thesis supervisor and problem of toilsomeness of thesis writing process. In the conclusion section, recommendations regarding the problems encountered by students in postgraduate education are made. Gereksinim duyulan bu insan gücünün yetiştirilmesinde ise başarılı ve nitelikli bir lisansüstü eğitim, özellikle de az gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkeler için oldukça önemlidir. Bu nedenlerden dolayı lisansüstü eğitime gereken önemin verilip, alandaki sorunların da çözülmesi gerekmektedir (Sevinç, 2001). Bu araştırmada, eğitim bilimleri enstitüsünde lisansüstü eğitim gören bireylerin yaşadıkları sorunların belirlenmesi ve yaşanan sorunlara ilişkin çözüm önerilerinin oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nitel yöntem ve olgu bilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu bir devlet üniversitesi enstitüsünde farklı bölüm ve anabilim dallarında lisansüstü eğitim gören, katılımcılar oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri, araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın başlıca bulgularından elde edilen sonuçlara göre; öğrenciler yabancı dil ve ALES sorunu, çalıştıkları kurumlardan izin alamama sorunu, tez danışmanı ile iletişim sorunu ve tez yazma sürecinin yoruculuğu sorunu konularında görüşlerini dile getirmişlerdir. Sonuç bölümünde, lisansüstü eğitimde öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları sorunlara yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur. The purpose of this study is to reveal the research tendencies in the articles related to curricu... more The purpose of this study is to reveal the research tendencies in the articles related to curriculum and instruction published in Educational Researcher Journal during the last ten years (2005-2016). Descriptive survey model and document analysis were used to conduct the study. A content analysis approach was used to analyse the data obtained. By making general evaluation in the analysed articles according to their subjects, research design and methods, data collection tools, sampling types, genders of the researchers and the publishing years of the articles, the tendency in this field was aimed to be determined. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the subjects of the articles are mostly related to instruction levels curriculum, tendencies in education, teacher training, education reform, and teaching approaches. The main research design used in this article is the literature review. The research method used is qualitative, and the document analysis was employed as a data collection tool.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate instructors' views and perspectives on using technology in English Language Teaching. This study was designed within a phenomenological framework. The experiences of four English Language instructors at different universities in Turkey during the using of technology into language classroom practice were studied through a qualitative in-depth interview. These instructors were selected based on maximum variation sampling method. A semi-structured interview schedule was designed by the researcher to determine how instructors perceive using technology and implement it in the classroom. A qualitative content analysis approach was used to analyse the data obtained. The descriptive qualitative analysis resulted in five themes. The main themes were the institution's view of technology, students' and instructors' background knowledge of technology, technological equipment used, information and communication technologies and professional experience. The results showed that widespread use of technology in language teaching is one of the necessities which our constantly developing world presents us.

A successful and qualified postgraduate education is rather important for especially underdeveloped and developing countries in order to raise this manpower that is highly needed. Due to these reasons, there is a need for giving importance to postgraduate education and solving the problems in the field (Sevinç, 2001). In this study, it is aimed to determine the problems that the individuals studying postgraduate education at Institute of Education Sciences encounter and to offer solutions concerning the problems encountered. In this study, qualitative research method and phenomenological research was used. The participants studied postgraduate education in different majors and departments in the Institute of Education Sciences at a state university Data of the study was collected with semi-structured interview schedule designed by the researchers. The data collected in the study were analyzed by content analysis technique. The study findings revealed that postgraduate students had mainly problems of foreign language and Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES), problems of getting permission from their institution or school, communication problem with thesis supervisor and problem of toilsomeness of thesis writing process. In the conclusion section, recommendations regarding the problems encountered by students in postgraduate education are made. Gereksinim duyulan bu insan gücünün yetiştirilmesinde ise başarılı ve nitelikli bir lisansüstü eğitim, özellikle de az gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkeler için oldukça önemlidir. Bu nedenlerden dolayı lisansüstü eğitime gereken önemin verilip, alandaki sorunların da çözülmesi gerekmektedir (Sevinç, 2001). Bu araştırmada, eğitim bilimleri enstitüsünde lisansüstü eğitim gören bireylerin yaşadıkları sorunların belirlenmesi ve yaşanan sorunlara ilişkin çözüm önerilerinin oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nitel yöntem ve olgu bilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu bir devlet üniversitesi enstitüsünde farklı bölüm ve anabilim dallarında lisansüstü eğitim gören, katılımcılar oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri, araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın başlıca bulgularından elde edilen sonuçlara göre; öğrenciler yabancı dil ve ALES sorunu, çalıştıkları kurumlardan izin alamama sorunu, tez danışmanı ile iletişim sorunu ve tez yazma sürecinin yoruculuğu sorunu konularında görüşlerini dile getirmişlerdir. Sonuç bölümünde, lisansüstü eğitimde öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları sorunlara yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur. Abstract: The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the PISA reading proficiencies correspond to the objectives in the Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grades curricula; and whether the results of the PISA reading skills test vary according to class levels in 7th, 8th and 9th grades. Survey design was used in the study. The Assessment Criteria Form for Curriculum Analysis, a Questionnaire and the PISA Reading Skills Test were used for data collection. It was determined as a result of the study, that there was a partial correspondence between the PISA reading proficiencies and the objectives in the Turkish 6th, 7th, 8th grades curricula of MoNE, and that the partial corresponding objectives corresponded to the reading proficiencies on the lower level of PISA.
