2014
Birdsell's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[11]
Economic Development
- Excerpt: "Bringing good-paying jobs to District 19 will spread out the tax burden we all face, as well as improve the lives of those still struggling in this economy. I will work with the Department of Resources and Economic Development to speak with companies looking to relocate to NH. I will work with DRED to make sure they visit our towns. I will also work with the Department of Employment Security to bring job fairs to our district."
Transportation
- Excerpt: "Interstate 93's expansion has taken too long, and one reason is the misappropriation of gas tax money. By law, gas tax revenue must go toward infrastructure, but much of it gets diverted for other reasons. I will fight to make sure the money we spend on gas taxes goes toward finishing 93, as well as improving routes such as 28, 102, 111, and 121."
Fiscal responsibility
- Excerpt: "District 19 citizens pay too much in taxes. I have a flawless record of voting against tax increases (such as the gax tax), as well as against establishing new ones (such as the Medicaid expansion, which will likely lead to millions in unfunded mandates from the federal government). I also believe diligent oversight of our state departments and how they prioritize their spending, will lead to more efficient government."
Gaming
- Excerpt: "I support casinos in NH, and believe it will aid in tourism, job growth, and economic relief for our communities. However, I will only support a bill that protects taxpayers, provides resources to area towns, and promotes competition. We will live with the results of this legislation for years, and I want to make sure we craft and support the right bill."
Second Amendment
- Excerpt: "I will keep it simple. I strongly support the Second Amendment, have never voted to infringe upon it, and will be a voice for the responsible users of firearms in our state."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
