Steve Chess (Republican Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Florida's 23rd Congressional District. He did not appear on the ballot for the Republican primary on August 20, 2024.

Biography

Steve Chess was born in Miami, Florida. Chess' professional experience includes working as a doctor, laborer, and waiter. He served in the U.S. Army in 1970. Chess earned a bachelor's degree from Adelphi University in 1969 and a degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1973. He attended Nova law school.[1]

I am not a politician. I am a Fla. Native son and an active Florida physician. My specialty while I was in practice was chiropractic. I am an American citizen, a conservative. A husband, father, grandfather, army veteran. Previously I was a registered democrat. Now I am running for office as a Republican. At this time the republican party better aligns with my belief and aspirations. I am compelled to retire Ted Deutch in the U.S. Congress to better represent my neighbors and fellow Americans in my district. Congressman Deutch’s record of voting is in lock step with the likes of Pelosi, AOC, Schumer, and the squad. It would seem he has brought his Democrat Michigan policies to Florida. Have you HAD ENOUGH of the hate, anti-Semitic, anti-White, anti-Police and anti-American propaganda being taught in our public schools and Universities? I have! I do not want to defund the police. I do not want our government supported Colleges and Universities teaching students to hate America, the flag, Anthem, laws, Constitution, history and our religious founding's

  • I love what America stands for. I would gratefully sacrifice my life to uphold our constitution and our bill of rights. If need be, it would be my privilege to join with the others who have given their all for the preservation of our great nation.
  • I am an “American First”, fiscally conservative American Patriot who gave an oath to uphold our constitution. “One Flag, One Language, One Anthem, One people, One Nation Under God with equal justice for all.
  • I am an ordinary citizen living in this great nation. I live in the real world. I pay bills, raise children, pay taxes, heal and assist others. I am and have experienced on the issues the “commoners” are faced with. I am a realist and I do not live in some ivory tower legislating to the Peasants as many legislators’ view “We the people”. Yes, I am one of the deplorables and the smelly Walmart shoppers just like most of you.

I believe in freedom! I want smaller government and a less taxing government. Let all workers profit from their labor. My aspiration in being elected would be to reduce the money we confiscate from all workers that we then send to Washington that supports waste and corruption. The only money that our government has to spend is money they have taken from you the worker. Let’s limit that to the essentials of governing and not on social engineering.

I do not think you can separate my political philosophy from my living philosophy. I believe that as an American you have unlimited potential. Live life fully and understand not everyone lives as you do or has been given the same gifts you possess. Respect everyone and every living creature. Listen and learn from everyone. Always remember your purpose on planet earth is to tend to mother earth and make it a better place than it was when you were born. You do not have to read books to have a successful life. Here are three I will recommend which may give you a head start. Read the bible, the autobiography of Ben Franklin, and the education of a wondering man by L’Amour. Character, truthfulness and integrity are the most important factors in choosing who you want to represent your interests in congress. Doing the right thing when no one is looking.

Examine the person and the decisions that they have made in their lives. Review their voting records to determine if they are representing your values. Ted Deutch as noted is voting in favor of things that I abhor. His voting record should provide you an awareness into how he will vote in the years ahead if you allow him to remain in office.

Age, experience, knowledge, honesty, integrity, maturity, compassion, common sense generosity. I am a man of conviction open to all ideas who lives the following oath. That is “Do my best to do my duty to God and Country and to obey the law. To always help others in need, to keep myself fit and morally straight to be in harmony with God’s teachings.

Represent the governed with only their interest in mind and heart. Do it with backbone and stand up for what is right always with the vision of what America is or shall become.

When I die, I want to know in my mind that I worked hard and did my best to make a positive contribution to man and the earth.

The first historical event that impacted me greatly was the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. I was 14 years old living in Florida and our country was preparing for war. Our county was massing troops and machines to make war if the missiles that the Russians had placed in communist Cuba were not removed. I vividly remember waving at the troops and the convoys of trucks and armament moving south. As a child in public school, we were being instructed in case of a nuclear attack to get under our desk and close our eyes to shield us from the flash of a nuclear detonation. Obviously, we were not prepared for war. It was a very dangerous and scary time for children and adults alike 62 years ago

My first job was delivering the Ft. Lauderdale News and the Miami Herald on my bicycle to my neighbors in Hollywood, Fla. I was 14 and I do not recall how long I had my paper route.

my biggest struggle like many others was lack of funds. I was many times without money, but I was never poor as poor is a state of mind. I was always rich in other than monetary ways. I learned a lot about living while I was working toward a more prosperous life. Therefore, I can understand and empathize with those working on the way up as well as the folks who have attained their goals in life.

As a congressman elect my duties are as follows and I take them very seriously.

1. Power of the purse 2. Power to impeach 3. Power to elect a president in the event of an Electoral College tie 4. Declare war 5. To confirm or deny presidential appointments 6. Investigative powers for wrongdoing 7. Propose and enact legislation that must be agreed upon by the Senate.

Additionally, there are other duties that tend to fall under those headings and are involved with committee assignments.

No. The issue is the character of the individual and what they have as core beliefs. Previous experiences in government should not be the decisive issue. If you are an inferior thinker and your previous experience has led to bad judgment calls, then the previous experience is detrimental. On the other instance our government was set up as a government “for the people” and “ by the people” and as such every American citizen of age should be involved in their governance. Therefore, I say they need not have experience if they are willing to uphold our constitution and the laws of our land. I trust them to do the right thing for the people much more than an experienced career politician. Many career politicians are a curse on our society. We need statesman who only serve one or two terms. We do not need career politicians. That is why you need to vote for candidates that embody your beliefs. They need to vote as you would if you were in their place

The greatest challenges we face are the big tech companies which limit what our population can see, speak, and hear. They have unfairly influenced our election process. In addition, we face hate and divisions created and promulgated by our learning institutions that are also stifling free speech, promoting false news, promoting cancel culture, furthering hate, division, and tribalism. We need to defend and uphold our constitution, stand firm against all those wanting to destroy our individual freedoms, America, and its capitalist system. We need to keep God in our lives and let the ten commandments govern our everyday activities. We need to honor all those Americans that have given their lives and others who have sacrificed in defense of our nation be it first responders, health care workers, law enforcement officers that uphold our American virtues. Our country is not perfect, but we strive as Americans to make it better each day. We have come a long way and the journey is not completed. Stand firm for law and order and one day I know we will achieve victory.

I am willing to serve on any committee where I am needed and share my expertise, personal knowledge, and experiences.

I am a financial conservative. My priority would be to see that we do not legislate ourselves deeper into debt until our paper money becomes worthless as has happened in prior governments.

Inflation robs us of our savings and destroys the value of our money. Reducing and eventually eliminating our nation’s debt is on the top of my list of priorities. Debt is servitude and I am against unnecessary debt. The federal reserve is not part of the United States government. It is a group of world bankers.

Inflation

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring temporary prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists. ~Ernest Hemingway

As a standard, I am using $ 1,000,000 in July of 2021 to mark the value of that amount at that time. The buying power of that $1,000,000 lost more than 1/2 of its value just 21 years ago. If you take out inflation, the cost of a $500,000 home today in the year 2001 would cost less than 1/2 that amount or around $250,000.

If spending by an out-of-control democrat Congress continues to spend as in the past, our living standard will decline, and poverty for the nation will ensue. What asset currently is backing up our money? Its value rests in our mutual belief that it is a currency backed by nothing more than the full faith and credit of the U.S. treasury. One must understand that money is nothing more than a way to exchange your hour of labor for another’s workers’ hour of work or a service or product they product. The government produces nothing and can only survive by taking the fruits of your labors. They confiscate your earnings by taxing you and then can buy votes to keep themselves in power and enjoy the luxury that goes with that taxing power.

Our currency is only as good as the paper it is printed on. It has no intrinsic value. Those who put away savings have lost more than 1/2 of their buying power. If your payment were as it was in 2021, and your pay was doubled tomorrow, you would not be getting an actual raise. You would only be keeping pace with inflation’s impact for the past 20-plus years. Inflation is bad for everyone other than those with hard assets. Currently, 60% of our nation is living paycheck to paycheck. That is unacceptable.

Therefore, when you cast your vote, you need to vote for a person that will fight for a strong and sound currency. You can sleep well at night knowing that if you honor me with your vote and when I am elected, I will never vote to encourage deficit spending unless it is in times of war. With the Biden and Democrat-sponsored budget in place, you can see the effects now. The basic price of almost everything is rising at an alarming rate. Fuel, building supplies, and all commodities have gone up. Chop meat has gone from under $2.00 to more than $4.00/lb.

Beefsteak has gone from $6 /LB to $12/LB. How can a working man or woman with a family keep pace with inflation? They can’t. Help me stop this madness. Vote them out regardless of what party they belong to.

This will only stop when the spending of money we don’t have stops. Stop the spending. Vote only for fiscally conservative candidates. Stop the new green deal. It will bankrupt our country. Vote the Dems and anyone else who is a spend and tax politician out of office.


Gun Rights

Here is my take on guns. They are the only defense citizens have against evildoers, whether they be your government or bad people in the streets. I am a “law and order” type of citizen. Guns are the equalizer. Even a frail man or slight-statured woman can defend themselves if they have this tool. Currently, by their silence from the top down, the crazy democratic party supports defunding the police, encouraging anarchy, BLM (Marxist organization), and Antifa’s policies of intimidation. Now more than ever, Citizens need to own and be trained to use firearms in self-defense. America has seen this before. In the south, when the KKK was intimidating and lynching black Americans (freedmen). The Democrat Party passed laws that disarmed Black Americans, leaving them defenseless. So, it seems that black citizens were under siege from the Democrats in power then, and it continues to this day. Who but a racist, Bigot, would say, “if you vote for a Republican, you are not Black.” In my opinion, the Democrat Party still clings to its roots. They are no friends of the minorities in America. If you want to stop mass killing on earth, you need not take away the rights of Americans to own guns. You remove the killers by taking away the power of the career politician to strip you of your second amendment rights. The government is the actual threat, not the lawful gun owners or the National Rifle Association (NRA). If you look at history, “Uncle Joe” Stalin killed millions with his communist policies. Will the new “Uncle Joe” Bidens’ policies and the democrat party do the same? Stop Uncle Joe and his party from meddling with our second amendment rights and our constitution. Enforce the laws in the books and not legal gun owners. Re-instate cash bail policies for lawbreakers. Keep your guns! Use them in defense of your family and our constitution. Who are the ones that have been under arms and take that oath seriously? It is all who have served their county in the armed services. They have sworn on their sacred honor and will give up life and treasure to uphold our Constitution. That is why the Democrats branded many American patriots as the most serious threat to their ambitions to unlawfully do away with our constitution. They have tagged veterans as white supremacists, just as they do to Trump-supporting Republicans and Democrats. They use the F.B.I. as a political weapon. So that you know, Jan. 6 was not an insurrection. The single most grievous action that occurred that day was that a young protesting Trump-supporting veteran lady (Ashley Babbitt) was unfairly executed. I grieve with her husband as this was a senseless, unlawful act of cowardice. Almost everything else was property damage or health-related deaths in the ranks of the protestors to what they believed was a stolen election. Had there been an actual insurrection, the death toll would have been many and on all sides. It just was not an insurrection as Pelosi, Schumer, Big Tech, and the rest of the Democrats would have you believe. You can’t have an insurrection without weapons. It should be noted that the F.B.I., in its testimony to congress, stated that there were no weapons of note in possession of the protestors. The “insurrection” is not the correct denotation for that protest. The Democrats and the talking heads are trying to gaslight you into believing just another “Big Lie.” Use your common sense and see the truth.


Health Care

The individuals, not businesses, pay for the policies and must have portability for all the States of the Union.

  • No exclusion for preexisting conditions and lifetime coverage regardless of condition.
  • Uniform Nationwide policies allowing portability, not solely to be regulated by individual states, but states should have a say in this policy-making process.
  • No more free health care for anyone regardless of immigration status, as everyone should have some skin in the game.
  • No Federal takeover of our health care options.
  • Reduction for healthy living incentives to reduce your health care cost.


Education

I believe in School Choice. If you stand with the Democrats and the teacher unions that are destroying the very children, they tell you they want to protect. We in Florida are blessed that our Republican governor, Mr. Ron DeSantis, followed the science and opened our schools a year ago. Look at the Blue states: California, New York, Michigan, and others. They are still shut down. The children in those states are losing out. All those with the finances have moved their children out of public school and into private schools. At the same time, the union teachers are being paid and not in the classroom. In my view, this is a de facto racist-inspired policy.

Who are the students being hurt? The majority are predominantly minority and low-income children.

They are being penalized by Biden, the Democrat party, and the teachers union. Loving Parents will always want the best education for their children.

I know the power of proper teaching. Not all children learn with the same methods. I am an example of that. I attended public school. By the time I reached 5th grade, I could not read. When my mom was presented with this issue, she did not give up on me. She did her research and found a school. We did that drive twice a week at great expense to my family. It paid off because I learned to read phonetically as opposed to what was taught in public school at the time. They were teaching sight-reading, which was a disaster for many of my schoolmates and me. With proper reading skills, I went to the top of my class and never looked back.

Reading is the key to education. Instead of all the social programs and indoctrination (brainwashing) of our children promulgated by the Dems and left-wing groups pushing critical race theory and such, we should be directing our teachers to teach our children the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic. We as a country spend the most on education for our children, yet we don’t get what we pay for. Our country scores on the world stage 38th in math and 24th in science. This is unacceptable. Defund the Federal Department of Education. Education is the sole responsibility of each State, and money should not be given to the federal government so that they can use that money to transform our public schools into Government schools. Government schools should not allow for propaganda to be inculcated in the minds of those being taught. Check our constitution, and you will see that the responsibility for educating our people was a power granted solely to each state. There was a department of education under President Andrew Johnson, but its primary purpose was to collect information and statistics about the nation’s schools.

In 1979 it became a cabin-level agency. The Democrat President Jimmy Carter allowed this to come into being.

Now the Federal government has control of the money sent to each state’s school system. Currently, they can force states (by threatening to withhold funds) to teach nonsense such as Common Core, Critical race theory, and such. We need to change that back to how it was before 1979. Before 1979, there was no Department of Education at the federal level. Vote to take the federal government out of our education system. Return all tax money slated for education to the States.

We must defund the public unions and put our children’s education first. Give that money back to the teachers. Please don’t force them to disregard the kids as they have during this pandemic.

Instead of teaching our younger generations to hate America (revisionist history 1618 project), we should be teaching them that we are not a perfect country. Still, we strive to do better every day. I don’t know of any country that is a better place to live. Show me anywhere in the world where minorities are more accepted and allowed to prosper than in America. What sets us apart is the rule of law and our constitution. Without the rule of law, you have nothing. Stop all those who push hate, division, and segregation in our schools. Become a Republican as we stand for Truth, Liberty, and the American way of life.

Student Debt

I was a student without funds, so I had to borrow money to attend college and grad school.

When I did borrow money, I always borrowed, knowing full well that it would have to be paid back. I always had a job to pay for my living expenses; therefore, I tried to borrow only for tuition costs. The rate was one or two over prime. Today prime is very low.

When Obama and the Democrats took over, they did away with the banks’ terms and used our government to fund the loans. The catch here was that process then caused the rates to rise. At times the loan rate could be more than 8%. Also, they allowed the money to be used for other things unrelated to tuition—a big mistake. With the competition of all the federal payments, the colleges and universities raised tuition, and students were more apt to use the funds for living expenses and not just education. The thinking was, why to get a job at low wages now if you could borrow the money and use it while you were in school. Once you graduate, you will get a good job and pay the loans back with the excellent pay you expected. Therefore most students did not seek employment to offset the costs of living outside their homes. Student debt got out of control, and now we see the consequences of government control and government policies encouraging student debt. All student loans should only pay for tuition.

I would propose that all loan recipients be provide a new loan agreement wherein all those students that paid off their student loans at the amount over one over prime would be provided a credit. For all others still owing the student loan fund they should have their loans recalculated to allow them the same one percent over prime that those have been in place from the inception of their loans. No loans should be forgiven.


Free Speech & Censorship

Shame on the Mainstream Media that serves up hours of disinformation that they pass on from one news outlet to another. Trump was correct about many issues. Fake news is just the most blatant. Stop vilifying Trump, his family and learn from him.

Real newsmen/women (actual journalists) refer to those folks as the mocking bird press. They are no longer arbitrators of truth, representing the many different tributaries of thoughts but instead prey on the unsuspecting, under-educated, ill-informed population feeding them propaganda to promote their collective socialist agenda. They are truly despicable. They are censoring the truth. They push the BIG LIE. If you are only hearing one side of the story, watch or listen to One American News, Newsmax, Epoch Times, or Rush Limbaugh, and then decide who and what you should believe in. Twitter, Facebook, and other social media are unreliable sources of getting the truth about your government.

If you need an example of this, look at how they treated the possibility that the epidemic came from a Chinese laboratory. Only now are they allowing that truth to be explored on their platform. They have and continue to lie by omission and or censorship.

Open your mind and eyes. Don’t let others tell you what you are to believe.

Think critically and choose wisely. Use your common sense.

Shame on the Mainstream Media that serves up hours of disinformation that they pass on from one news outlet to another. Trump was correct about many issues. Fake news is just the most blatant. Stop vilifying Trump and learn from him.

Real newsmen/women (actual journalists) refer to those folks as the mocking bird press. They are no longer arbitrators of truth, representing the many different tributaries of thoughts but instead prey on the unsuspecting, under-educated, ill-informed population feeding them propaganda to promote their collective socialist agenda. They are truly despicable. They are censoring the truth. They push the BIG LIE. If you are only hearing one side of the story, watch or listen to One American News, Newsmax, Epoch Times, or Rush Limbaugh, and then decide who and what you should believe in. Twitter, Facebook, and other social media are unreliable sources of getting the truth about your government.

If you need an example of this, look at how they treated the possibility that the epidemic came from a Chinese laboratory. Only now are they allowing that truth to be explored on their platform. They have and continue to lie by omission and or censorship.

Open your mind and eyes. Don’t let others tell you what you are to believe.

Think critically and choose wisely. Use your common sense.


AOC & The Squad

AOC is a sorry example of a typical democrat legislator who is truly an ignoramus. Her education is so challenged that she genuinely believes (as do most democrats in congress that do not speak out against her inane muttering) that math is racist. It would seem someone should explain the true definition of racism to her. Well, here is it for all the dummies that race bait and intimidate others using that word. A racist is a person who believes in racism, the doctrine that one’s racial group is superior and has the right to dominate other named racial groups that they think are inferior to their racial group.

America does not suffer or exhibit systemic racism even though the Democrat Party spews’ that BIG LIE from President Biden in his speeches to the general public.

The Democrat Party is further trying to divide our nation’s voters. Pitting the rich against the poor, white against black, and on and on it goes. We have always prided ourselves that we are the melting pot of cultures. We should remain so.

I call on all Americans to stop the ginned-up hate and unite under our love of America and what it stands for that is SYMBOLIZED by our Flag.

Sure, some White Americans are racist, but the same can be said for Black Americans and all other hyphenated Americans. Those who carry that burden are of the smallest minority. So to say our country is systemically racist is a lie as it goes against the basic tenants of our Declaration of Independence. “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, That among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness….”

Not only is A.O.C. ignorant on that issue she also exhibits the same lack of understanding of many other problems. She has shown herself to be a hater, anti-Semitic, anti-police, anti-science, anti-due process, and against law and order. Her whole squad is an embarrassment to the Democrat Party and our country. They are nothing more than misguided, undereducated, hack politicians.

If you have not noticed that the Democrats have not condemned their squad’s utterings, one must assume by their silence that they agree with their philosophy.

I asked, is that what you believe? Is that what you want to associate yourself with as a member of the democrat party? Not me. That should give you the strength to switch parties and become a republican.

The only thing worthy of hate is ignorance.


Energy Costs & Fuel Impacts

Do you believe in “energy independence” for America? I DO! If you are paying attention, you will observe that the Trump Administration made our country’s energy independence. We were exporting energy products for the first time in a long time. We were experiencing the benefits of less expensive energy at all levels. All Americans were doing better. Now watch as the “tax and spend” democrats with their free lunch policies destroy our economy and weaken our ability to defend our nation.

What did the Biden administration do in the first 100 days of his inauguration? He killed the XL pipeline, which put thousands out of a job and, since it will not now be completed, made us more dependent on oil from countries not friendly towards America. Now with one of our primary pipelines closed down (colonial pipeline) due to a computer hack, you should expect the price of everything to go much, much higher. Already fuel costs have gone up to $1.00/gal, a sheet of plywood has doubled, food is up 30%, and this is just the first 100 days. Hold on to your wallet.

Bank of America says severe inflation is expected shortly. What does that mean to you and me? Already we see fuel prices going up. Remember the last time Democrats did this under Jimmy Carter. Gas prices went through the roof; we had gas shortages and long lines. Prices on everything went up. Prepare yourself for that again.

Think about who in our society gets hurt worse with exorbitant energy prices. Answer: the folks on the bottom, the minorities, always take it on the chin when the Democrats are in power.

Therefore, when you think of what policies are better for the minorities, realize that they will pay the price for wrong-headed democratic economic decisions.

Once we go to Electric vehicles, where do you think all that electric energy will come from? It will have to come from fossil fuels (Coal, most likely as environmentalists disdain Nuclear ), but it will be less efficient and more costly.

Unlike fossil fuels, the energy can not be stored without great expense and massive negative environmental impacts, which will take place to produce the batteries needed for storage. Better yet, since we charge a substantial fuel tax (61 cents/gal) on fuel, how will we then tax the electric power we will have to produce for electric vehicles to replace petrol-fueled cars and replace the road tax dollars they generate? Think that through, please.

I will tell you how. Your electric bills will go through the roof. Again, the lower economic strata will pay a more significant percentage of their income to pay for energy in all forms than the wealthy Democrats pushing this change. Note that recently it was revealed by a trustworthy news outlet that the Democratic Party is in bed with big banks, Big Tech companies, and wall street. No longer does the democratic party represent the workers or the poor. That is another reason that I left the party years ago.

All in all, I predict a rough ride, so when you see $5 a gallon of gas, don’t blame Trump and his administration’s policies. Point your finger at Biden and the Democrat’s socialist and communist policies. Everything is too Damn High. Hold the Biden administration and the democrat party accountable. Vote them out.

All in all, I predict if the Democrats remain in power, our country and all its citizens will pay the price of poor policies and inept leadership. Unless things change in the 2022 Midterm elections and the Republican party wins resoundingly, I foresee our country as we have known it to be forced into a socialist, communist dictatorship run by the Democrat party.[2]
