Scott Wright
Scott Olin Wright was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He joined the court in 1979 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter. Wright served on senior status from October 5, 1991, until his death on July 11, 2016.[1][2]
Early life and education
A native of Haigler, Nebraska, Wright earned his LL.B. from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1950.[1]
Military service
Wright served in the U.S. Navy as a cadet from 1942 to 1943. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a captain and aviator from 1943 to 1946.[1]

Judicial career
Western District of Missouri
Wright was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on May 24, 1979, to a new judgeship created by 92 Stat. 1629. Wright was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 25, 1979, and he received his commission on September 26, 1979. Wright served as the chief judge of the Western District of Missouri from 1985 to 1990 before assuming senior status on October 5, 1991. He served as a senior judge on the court until his death on July 11, 2016.[1][2]
