George Michael Marovich is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Marovich is serving on senior status. He joined the court in 1988 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.

Early life and education

A native Chicago citizen, Marovich earned both his bachelor's and J.D. Degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1952 and 1954.[1]

Judicial career

Northern District of Illinois

On recommendation by former Congressman Henry Hyde, Marovich was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois by President Ronald Reagan on February 2, 1988, to a seat vacated by Susan Getzendanner. Marovich was confirmed by the Senate on March 31, 1988, and received commission on April 1, 1988. Marovich assumed senior status on January 2, 2000.[1] Marovich was succeeded in this position by John Darrah.
