The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Incumbent Dereck E. Davis, Angela Angel and Darryl Barnes defeated Nick Charles, Geraldine "Gerry" Eggleston, Matthew Fogg, Larry F. Greenhill, Tony Jones, Juanita D. Miller and Stanley Onye in the Democratic primary and were unopposed in the general election.[2][3][4]
