The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Guy Guzzone was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Jody Venkatesan was unopposed in the Republican primary. Guzzone defeated Venkatesan in the general election.[1][2][3]

Guzzone won re-election in the general election on November 2, 2010. He came in first to secure the first of three seats up in the district.[4]
