Campaign themes
2014
Torres' campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Property Taxes
- Excerpt: "Our Property Taxes are too high. Taxes are making it impossible for our kids to buy homes here and they are driving the elderly out of their homes– and out of the state. I’ve spent my career working to help people to make their American Dream come true. Whether helping them to secure the funding to launch a business or purchase their first home, I have the experience in the private sector to get government working for the people again."
Opportunities for Our Children
- Excerpt: "As a public school graduate who worked hard to graduate from college as an adult while providing for my family, I know that there is no more important responsibility to our children than giving them a quality education. I’ve spent years as a parent advocate, working to make our schools a better place. As your Assemblyman I will work to end the failed Common Core system, reform our education system, and give our children a real chance at a better tomorrow."
Jobs
- Excerpt: "Rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges will not only make our communities a more attractive area for future investment, it will put our people to work today. As your State Assemblyman I will support smart infrastructure projects that improve our community and put real New Yorkers back to work."
