Chapter Text
30 days until the baby is born, at least that's what Mama Puppy and Papa Puppy say.
Times goes slow, goes really really slow, when you're anxious.
Fuwawa never felt it before, this...strange sensation. Your chest becomes heavy, your fingers become cold, your tail moves left and right like it's going to pop out, your mind seems to be working like never before.
She cannot wait for the baby to arrive, how will the baby arrive, will the stork bring her?
...wait, then better put on some things on the entrance, otherwise the stork will get lost!
"Yawn..."
"How can you be fully awake this early in the morning?"
"Hurry up, daddy!"
"We gotta put stuff on the entrance so the stork knows where to deliver the baby!"
"Look! I have already painted arrows on the walls with my crayons!"
"...you what?"
Fuwawa beamed proudly, her tail wagging as she gestured toward the walls of the house.
Bright, wobbly arrows in all sorts of colors covered the entrance, pointing directly at the front door.
Some were big, some were small, and some were… well, not exactly arrow-shaped, but the effort was there.
Her daddy sighed, looking at the rainbow-colored arrows again. "...We just painted these walls."
"I was just going to begin with the outside!"
"Come on, let's g-"
"No no no, wait, Fuwawa, wait a second!"
"Let's just...take a deep breath and calm our tails..."
"The stork will DEFINETLY know where to deliver the baby, okay? You don't have to worry about it getting lost."
"So let's just...stop drawing for a second and go back to sleep, okay?"
"B-but I wanted to collect rocks and make like..."
"an entrance thing..."
"A path?"
"A padh, yeah!"
"...my mother told me to never overspoil the kid too much..."
"But ah, you're so cute."
"Come on, let's take some fresh air, then."
"I'll be collecting rocks with you."
She grabbed his hand and pulled him outside, her little paws barely touching the ground as she bounced ahead.
The morning air was crisp and cool, the sky still painted with soft pinks and blues. It was nice.
She crouched down, scanning the ground with serious determination.
Every little pebble was inspected, some getting an excited “Ooooh!” before being placed carefully in her growing pile.
Others? Rejected. Too bumpy. Too boring. Not stork-worthy.
Her hands seem to be getting dirty and she seems to be messing up the grass by carving on it...and this attracts the attention of the villain walking nearby.
"OI OI OI, what's all this, then?!"
Show your respect for Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame.
The Scarlet Princess, The Harbinger of Order, Leader of the Justice Group!
And Advent's worst enemy.
The Justicar who defeats evil with her great red sword, destined to purge even the most damning of demons...
At least that's what she says. In reality, there is not much a posh 10 year old girl and her plastic sword can do against evil. Not even the blue ember on her chest could do anything save for cooking really good marshmallows.
But one thing's for sure, she will do everything in her way to stop Advent from becoming naughty evildoers, even if she fails in the attempt.
Elizabeth: "It's you again...Advent..."
"Oh, even that name makes the FLAME IN MY HEART burst!"
"Where are your other evil friends?!"
Fuwawa blinked up at Elizabeth, still crouched in the dirt with a paw full of carefully chosen pebbles. Her tail gave a confused little flick.
(Remember, Fuwawa! Every time that someone of the Justice group comes to you, you have to bark and growl at them!)
(Okay, Shiori!)
(...wait, could you help me pick up some rocks too?)
(I'm just a part of your imagination, you dumb puppy)
Poof.
Fuwawa doesn't know why she should bark at Elizabeth.
But maybe it is because she is too much of a party pooper...
Meh, that's enough.
Fuwawa: "BAU BAU BAU!"
"GRR..."
"BAU BAU BAU!"
Elizabeth: "Stop it."
Fuwawa: "NOEH!"
"BAU BAU BAU!"
Elizabeth: "Stop it, you...cheeky dog!"
Fuwawa stuck out her tongue.
“Bau bau bau! I dunno what chickey means!”
Elizabeth: "It means that...ah, whatever."
“What are you DOING, anyway? Digging a secret tunnel for your evil lair?"
"Hiding treasure you stole from innocent people?!”
"Nerissa and Shiori will have to answer to me!"
Fuwawa: "None of that!"
"The stork will bring my baby sister and I'm making an entrance so it doesn't get lost!"
Elizabeth: "...your..."
"Your what?"
"Sorry I barge into your conversation..."
Papa Puppy: "Yeah, she will have a baby sister."
Elizabeth: "...but babies don't come from the stork-"
Papa Puppy: "SSSSSHHHHHH-"
"YES. THEY. DO."
Elizabeth stared at him, mouth slightly open like she was about to argue. Then, very slowly, she turned to Fuwawa, who was back to happily sorting pebbles.
She squinted.
Then she stood up straight, flipping her tiny cape with great importance.
Elizabeth: "Mister Abyssgard..."
"Fuwawa is gathering with some very bad fellows!"
Papa Puppy: "...you mean her neighborhood friends?"
"Advent, they call themselves now?"
Elizabeth: "Ah-uh-yes!"
"Shiori Novella, Nerissa Ravencroft and that dastardly and EVIL BABY Koseki Bijou are criminals, evildoers of the highest order!"
Papa Puppy: "What have they done, exactly?"
Elizabeth: "There was this one time, I caught them doing something despicable!"
"You adults were buying groceries and they walked to where the free samples were, the sign said to take one..."
"AND EACH ONE OF THEM PICKED TWO!"
Papa Puppy raised an eyebrow. “Uh-huh.”
Elizabeth pointed dramatically at Fuwawa. “Criminal activity! Shameless lawbreaking! A complete disregard for the sacred rules of the grocery store!”
Fuwawa blinked, tilting her head. “But they were really yummy…”
Elizabeth gasped. “Oh, so you ADMIT IT?!”
Papa Puppy pinched the bridge of his nose. “Elizabeth, sweetheart, I don’t think taking an extra cheese cube counts as a crime.”
Elizabeth crossed her arms. “It STARTS with extra cheese cubes. Then it’s two cookies. Then three.”
Elizabeth: "Then before you know it, they become great bank robbers!"
"As the Harbinger of Order, I must stop it before it happens!"
"Mr. Abyssgard, I will make Fuwawa's baby sister a member of Justice once she's born!"
"Cecilia, Gigi, Raora and me will make the baby a lover of Justice, Truth and...all things good, yeah!"
Fuwawa: "WHAT?!"
Papa Puppy: "Well...you four are really nice kids..."
"And Raora could teach her how to draw-"
Fuwawa: "NOEH!"
Fuwawa brings out her claws right from the top of her knuckles.
Small but sharp pieces of blue coloured bone, it is only the third time that she has ever unleashed them, only appearing when she is truly angry.
All Abyssgards have them, and they're actually quite lethal once they're fully grown up.
"NO NO NO!"
"My baby sister will not be a party pooper like you!"
Elizabeth took a step back, her hand instinctively reaching for her plastic sword, eyes wide as Fuwawa's claws—sharp and gleaming—appeared from her little paws.
But that toy will do nothing against real, actual claws.
Perhaps that's why Papa decides to intervene before Elizabeth takes a bad scare.
"Fuwawa..."
"What is our motto?"
"..."
"An Abyssgard protects smiles, it does not hurt them."
"Sowwy..."
Papa Puppy smiled softly as Fuwawa’s claws retracted, the sharp blue tips disappearing back into her paws. He knelt down, gently ruffling her fur and speaking in the calm, reassuring tone he always used when things got a little too heated.
"Your baby sister will be okay..."
"It seems like she will not only have four friends, but eight...doesn't that sound great?"
"Advent and Justice working together to take care of the baby..."
"Instead of...bickering and grabbing each other's hairs."
Fuwawa's ears perked up at Papa Puppy's words.
Her tail wagged uncertainly, unsure if she liked the idea of Justice and Advent working together.
"But... Lizzy says we’re bad! She’s always saying stuff about us!" Fuwawa’s voice wavered, her little paws still clutching a pebble. “She said we’d become bad guys! Like... bank robbers!”
Papa: "And you won't, don't pay attention to what she says."
"Liz, I know you mean well..."
"But you should treat kids younger than you with a little more care."
"Fuwawa is just 5, come on..."
Elizabeth blinked, a little taken aback by Papa Puppy's gentle rebuke.
Her dramatic stance faltered for a moment, and she furrowed her brow, shifting uneasily.
The force of her earlier proclamations seemed to deflate with the calmness of Papa Puppy's words.
Then she turned her gaze back to Fuwawa, her small face softening with a thoughtful look. She shifted her cape slightly, as if preparing for something important.
Elizabeth: "It's not that I hate you or anything..."
"It's just that...the Queen Mother told me to always uphold Justice and good morals..."
"B-but I think you're...cool and all..."
"Even the little Bijou..."
Fuwawa's ears perked up at Elizabeth's unexpected shift in tone.
The small, sharp claws that had just been retracted twitched slightly, as if unsure whether to stay calm or flare up again.
She looked up at Elizabeth with wide, curious eyes.
Fuwawa: "Then, will you help us when my baby sister arrives?"
Elizabeth: "I need to consult with my comrades about this...truce between our groups."
"Although they're always nagging me about Advent..."
"Elizabeth, they're good girls, Elizabeth, we should invite them to play videogames, Elizabeth, Gigi ate toothpaste~"
Fuwawa’s tail wagged cautiously, her eyes hopeful as she watched Elizabeth's serious expression slowly soften.
She hadn’t expected Elizabeth to sound this uncertain, especially after all the grand proclamations of Justice and righteousness that usually followed her around like a cape.
She could hear the soft whine of her comrades’ voices in her head, like a chorus of concern.
"I'll be on my way to my center of operations..."
"But I'll have my eyes on you, Fuwawa Abyssgard!"
"You better not make this baby sister of yours into an evildoer!"
"...lovely to see you, to see you lovely."
As the sun rose higher in the sky, the world seemed a little brighter, and Fuwawa felt her heart settle a bit.
What's a sister?
Someone that fights for JUSTICE!
