Chapter Text
Alastor stood on the balcony with his mother as they stared out at the sea. She looked very amused while Alastor was extremely embarrassed. She had arrived at Lucifer’s room bright and early but neither had heard her knocking. Charlie and Vaggie had shown up soon after and unlocked the door to check on them.
He was roused from sleep when his mother had knocked on the bedroom door. When he failed to answer, she walked in and caught them spooning. Lucifer had been hugging him tightly, hips firmly pressed against Alastor’s ass while his face was buried in Alastor’s shoulder blades. The blanket barely covered their waists and neither had worn pajama shirts.
Lucifer was still getting ready inside. It seemed forgetting to set his alarm was a common problem which is why the girls had arrived early. He hadn’t seemed embarrassed at all when they were caught. He mumbled good morning and rubbed his eyes.
“I can’t believe you get to wake up to a view like this,” his mother said in a teasing tone. “Though I’d be surprised if you got to enjoy it right away.”
He groaned. He didn’t know what to say. If it wasn’t obvious before she clearly knew what he was doing now.
“Lucifer and his daughter seem like very nice people,” Marie said. “I bet they would be great additions to any family.”
Alastor blushed. “I suppose.”
“Al,” she sighed with fondness. “What’s going on here? You’ve never been interested in romance before but now you seem to be falling for a person you met two days ago.”
“I’m unsure,” he replied truthfully. “Lucifer is going to let me borrow his phone so I can call Rosie when we dock.”
His mother laughed gleefully.
“You’ve fallen much harder than I thought,” she was still giggling. “Maybe I can still get a grandchild.”
Alastor sputtered but eventually gave up trying to respond. His face grew hotter.
Lucifer already had a fully grown child, would he want another one? With Alastor? He pictured Lucifer holding a baby with red hair and tiny deer ears. Or blond like Lucifer’s.
He realized his mother was staring at his back and twisted to see his own tail wagging. He looked away as she covered her mouth as she laughed. He could tell this was going to be a long day where his mother would enjoy herself from his embarrassment. He couldn’t be too upset with that thought.
Alastor eagerly typed Rosie’s phone number as he watched Charlie and his mother shop together. Lucifer had told him to stay within sight so they could ensure he didn’t get lost. Rosie might not answer an unfamiliar number but he planned to leave a message.
“Rosie’s Emporium,” she answered cheerily. “May I ask whom I am speaking with?”
“Hello, my dear,” he greeted happily. “It's Alastor.”
“Oh, Alastor!” She exclaimed. “Aren't you supposed to be on that all expenses paid luxury cruise?”
“I am,” he replied. “We landed at the port city today.”
“How's your mother? Are you two having fun?” She asked distractedly. She was likely fusing with something.
He looked over and saw his mom and Charlie laughing as they held up shirts for each other. Vaggie joined them and put a clip in Charlie’s hair.
“She’s having a lot of fun,” he responded slowly.
“What's wrong, dear?” There was concern in her voice.
“I….need some relationship advice,” he admitted quietly.
“You listen to me, mister,” Rosie’s voice grew stern. “Your mother is a grown woman and is allowed to have a fling if she wants to. Leave her be.”
Alastor’s eyes widened in shock.
“I meant for me,” he shouted in surprise then lowered his voice. “I'm having romantic troubles.”
“You?” She asked with bewilderment. “One moment.” Her voice sounded distant as she yelled. “Cancel my next appointment.” Then she was normal again. “Go ahead, dearie.”
Alastor was both flattered and embarrassed that she canceled an appointment for him. He gave her a brief summary of the past few days, leaving out the explicit details. As he spoke, he realized that he and Lucifer had done a lot of things together despite spending almost an entire day in Lucifer’s room.
“How would I know if I wanted to pursue more?” He ended.
“That's so romantic,” Rosie gushed. “He would get a twenty on my scale.” She giggled. “I don't see an issue. Let him romance you as he likes and then make a decision on Friday.”
“But how will I know what decision to make?” Alastor asked with slight frustration. “All my past crushes dissipated within weeks or sometimes days of forming. What if I choose to be with him and cease to like him soon after?”
“You can only know what you feel in the moment,” she advised. “Think about this, how would you feel if he left this very moment? If he stopped giving you any special attention? Didn’t even look your way.”
Alastor pictured Lucifer putting distance between them. Giving him an indifferent smile rather than his joyful one. His chest contracted at the thoughts.
“If he stopped hugging you,” she continued. “Touching you. Kissing you.”
“I wouldn't like that,” he blurted without thinking. People turned to look at his outburst.
“I can’t wait to meet him,” she giggled. “He’s got you so smitten.”
Alastor narrowed his eyes and glared at a sign. He could read it but it was very colorful.
“If we can make it work,” he grumbled. “I don’t even know where he lives.”
“One step at a time,” she replied cheerfully. “Do you just want advice or would you like my opinion?”
“What’s your opinion?” he asked curiously.
“You already like him much more than your past crushes,” she stated with confidence. “I think you should just tell him now. Rather than worrying about romancing you, he can focus more on getting to know you better.”
He was stunned into silence.
“You should get going now,” he could hear the amusement in her voice. “The more time you spend with me the less time you get with him.”
“Very well,” he sighed. “Thank you for the advice.”
“Happy to help,” she replied happily. “You have to tell me everything once you get back. Have a fun trip.”
“Goodbye, Rosie,” he moved the phone away from his ear to look at it. He stared for a few moments but the call disconnected before he could press the big red button.
Though the solution seemed simple, he felt a turmoil of emotions. He didn’t want to waste Lucifer’s time if his feelings were only going to fade in the end. Rosie was right though, he didn’t know how he’d feel in the future. He only knew about the present and right now he wanted to be with Lucifer.
Where was Lucifer? He hadn’t seen the short man in a while.
Alastor looked around but could only see his mother, Charlie and Vaggie. Lucifer was nowhere to be seen. He walked over to the three women.
“Where has Lucifer gone?” he asked when he was near them. “I would like to return his phone.”
“He’s in the changing booth,” Charlie pointed. “He wanted to try something on.”
The curtain to the booth suddenly flung open.
“Dad,” Charlie whined in embarrassment as she covered her flushed face.
Lucifer was wearing brown sandals and light blue swim trunks with palm trees on them. He left his white dress shirt unbuttoned, clearly showcasing his abs. To top off the look he wore apple shaped sunglasses and a tan sun hat with a light blue ribbon tied around the base.
“How do I look?” he splayed his arms with a huge grin. “Don’t I look like some young beach goer?”
He spun on his heel as if that would make the outfit any less ridiculous.
“You look awful,” Alastor snorted. “Where did you even find that hat?”
“Alastor,” his mother hissed at him and lightly slapped his arm in reprimand.
“You’re obviously wrong,” Lucifer placed one hand on his hip and pouted. He held the other one out. “Give me my phone so I can take a picture.”
“Smile,” Alastor said and lifted the phone. It took him a moment but he was able to take a few pictures of Lucifer posing. They all looked silly.
“You have a steady hand,” Lucifer was looking through the pictures. “Do you think I should get the shorts?”
“I believe you can manage without them,” Alastor raised a brow. “Best to put the whole outfit back.”
“Party pooper,” Lucifer childishly stuck his tongue out before returning to the booth.
And this was the man that Alastor was agonizing being with. Perhaps Rosie was right after all.
Lucifer returned with his shirt buttoned and wearing his black shorts and hiking shoes. He still wore the apple sunglasses.
“Let’s both get apple sunglasses so we can match,” Lucifer beamed at him.
Alastor glared at the offending glassware.
“I’ll stick to my monocle,” he said dryly.
“Boring,” Lucifer smirked, then turned to his daughter. “Are you or Vaggie getting anything?”
“Just some jewelry,” she held up some earrings. “Maybe just the necklaces.”
Lucifer paid for everything. No matter what store they went into, he insisted that he treat them. Alastor didn’t want anything but his mother was buying gifts for everyone. He even took them to a shoe store to buy them hiking boots. He and his mother had protested but Lucifer assured them that they’d need it for the hike.
He’d been right about it too. Alastor didn’t know how they would have managed hiking in the cave without them. Charlie and Vaggie helped his mother while Lucifer kept him from falling or hitting his head on the ceiling.
Lucifer, Charlie and Vaggie had backpacks with some supplies. They mostly contained what they purchased throughout the morning. The only light they had were two electric lanterns, one carried by Charlie while Lucifer held the other.
“Watch out,” Lucifer grabbed him around the waist with his free hand. “You never know how deep those puddles are.”
Alastor had stepped in a puddle of water that was deeper than his ankle. He’d have fallen without Lucifer.
“Maybe I should wrap my tail around you to keep you safe,” Lucifer spoke softly as he squeezed his waist. “We’re almost to the end. Do you think you can make it?”
“I can manage,” Alastor replied between heavy pants. He was not enjoying this activity but everyone else seemed to.
His mother laughed at something Charlie was telling her. She hadn’t stopped smiling since she entered the bedroom.
“Trust me, the view is breathtaking,” Lucifer let him go but grabbed his hand to lace their fingers. “We still have to hike back too.”
Alastor held back his groan and walked more carefully than before. He only looked up when he heard a gasp and his eyes widened in shock.
There was an underground lake ahead of them. He looked around when he realized he heard rushing water and spotted a waterfall. Natural light was streaming in and reflecting off the water causing the cave walls to be bathed in pale blues and greens.
“We can’t go any further than this,” Lucifer announced and then chuckled. “Unless you want to swim.”
“Wow,” Vaggie walked closer to the edge. “This place is amazing.”
“Yeah,” Charlie agreed and joined her by the edge to take her hand. “It really is.”
They seemed lost in their own world as they looked over the lake.
“Was it worth all your suffering?” Lucifer asked him quietly and looped their arms together.
Alastor huffed. “I suppose.”
His mother stood off to the side, away from the water’s edge, admiring the waterfall.
Lucifer held a finger up to his mouth to indicate they should stay quiet then tugged him along to a nearby opening in the wall. Alastor had to keep his head lowered as he followed Lucifer. It didn’t take long for them to enter a bigger chamber.
He pulled Alastor into the center and then turned off the lantern. They waited in the dark for only a few moments before the cave walls lit up with blue light. Alastor’s gaze darted around as he tried to figure out where the light was coming from.
“They’re glow worms,” Lucifer grabbed his other hand so they faced each other. “Isn’t it beautiful?”
“Yes,” he replied softly. He was completely stunned by the beauty around them. It was even better than the lake. It reminded him of when he went camping with his mother and they looked up at the night sky full of stars. It was something he’d never be able to see in the city. He’d heard of the phenomenon before but never thought he’d get to see it.
Alastor’s gaze returned to Lucifer and his breath hitched at the adoring expression he found. Lucifer wasn’t looking at the worms at all, just staring at him.
Friday be damned, he thought with slight annoyance. Rosie was going to be smug when she found out she was right.
He leaned down and their lips brushed together briefly. Lucifer stood a little taller and fully pressed them together.
“Lucifer, I-” Alastor spoke against his mouth.
“Dad, are you over here?” Charlie called and the chamber was suddenly filled with light.
Alastor straightened so quickly he hurt his back. The light of the glow worms deemed but didn’t completely disappear.
“Over here,” Lucifer called but was still beaming up at him. He whispered, “I can’t wait for tonight.”
Alastor’s flush was hidden as the lights went out again and they all gazed at the blue glowing worms together. Lucifer had snuck an arm around his waist to pull him closer.
The restaurant Lucifer picked for lunch was close to the cave’s exit. A fact both he and his mother greatly appreciated. They were both exhausted after their excursion and needed to rest for a while. Even Vaggie looked tired. Lucifer and Charlie both looked energetic, as if they had just woken up.
Lucifer pushed his untouched water over to Alastor. He didn’t even protest, just put down his own empty glass and took it. The walk back hadn’t been as bad with Lucifer holding onto him the whole time but the caves were humid. It felt like the energy had just been sucked right out of him.
“Neither of you are in any condition to go diving later,” Lucifer chuckled, clearly amused. “You should rest on the beach with Vaggie.”
Alastor finished his second cup of water and breathed heavily.
“A shame,” he stated. “But you are right.”
“We can go another day,” Lucifer said then froze for a moment before he changed the subject. “Anyway, I heard this place has great tacos. I think I’m going to get chicken.”
Another day. A promise of a future they were both uncertain about. Even if they did like each other, if they didn’t live in the same state or even the same city then a relationship would be difficult. Lucifer’s plan to wait until Friday to discuss it was too last minute. The ship docked on Saturday at noon. They wouldn’t have very long.
Though if the spa day was too overstimulating for Lucifer then perhaps he should expect Thursday to be another rest day. Alastor would certainly need it after all that hiking. It would be a good time to discuss it.
They ordered their food and got more water for the table.
Charlie and Lucifer spent most of the time discussing their diving trip. They were both so animated and excited. It was clear that Charlie mostly took after him, looks and personality wise.
“Can I trade you for one of your steak tacos?” Lucifer asked as soon as the waiter deposited their plates and left.
Alastor hesitated. He didn’t generally like to share food but they were tacos so it was something that would be simple.
“Very well,” he agreed. “But I would like to grab it.”
“Ok,” Lucifer beamed and pushed his plate toward him.
Alastor carefully swapped the tacos and avoided his mother’s knowing gaze. She’d been stunned at first but now she was just smirking. Rosie’s comment about him being smitten played through his head. These two women were going to gossip about him so much after this trip. He should bury himself in work when he returned home.
Once they were done they slowly made their way to the beach. It seemed that Lucifer had already prepared a spot near the diving equipment rental shop. There was a blanket and two chairs under a low canopy for shade. There were even a few pillows on the blanket.
“Alright, you three should be all set up,” Lucifer said. “Vaggie you know what to do if you need anything.”
“Yup, have fun you two,” Vaggie smiled and waved as she plopped down on one of the chairs.
“Oh and here’s my phone for music,” he tossed the phone to her. “You have the external charger?”
“Come on, dad,” Charlie grabbed his hand and tugged lightly. “Vaggie’s got this.”
“Right, of course,” he glanced back with a slightly anxious expression but then looked forward to follow his daughter.
Alastor laid down on the blanket, allowing his mother the other chair. He laid on his back and closed his eyes. The breeze was nice and he could use a nap.
“Do you three go on cruises often?” Marie asked.
“Um, well, those two do,” Vaggie answered. “Charlie and I have only known each other for a year and a half so this is my second time with them.”
“Where did you go last time?” she inquired curiously.
“I don’t remember the city names but it was along the western Caribbean,” Vaggie smiled fondly. “It was a crazy vacation just to meet Charlie’s parents. I couldn’t believe they were paying for my trip.” She laughed. “Charlie can be spacy sometimes and forgot to mention that both her parents were famous so I was immediately intimidated when I met them. They didn’t judge me at all though, they just wanted to get to know me.”
Vaggie looked at the colorful bracelet on her wrist fondly.
“I’m sure you can tell just from Lucifer but they are both kind people,” she sighed happily. “I’m so grateful that they consider me family.”
“Charlie’s mother is famous?” Marie asked excitedly. “What’s her name? Maybe I’ve heard of her.”
“She’s an actress named Lilith Magne,” Vaggie answered.
Alastor’s eyes shot open as his mother squealed.
“I love her movies!” Marie gushed. “But wait, wasn’t she only ever married to the owner of Lulu World?”
“Yeah,” Vaggie confirmed.
Alastor shot up and twisted his body to look at Vaggie’s startled form.
“Lucifer is the owner of the Lulu corporation?” he shouted with bewilderment.
Vaggie nodded but he didn’t really need the confirmation. He only needed to recall how they first met. The receptionist hadn’t even batted an eye when Lucifer had demanded a refund. That should have been a clue that he was at least an executive of some sort but it hadn’t even crossed his mind at the time. Lucifer’s room should have been another dead giveaway.
“Did he not tell you?” Vaggie questioned with uncertainty.
“No, but we never spoke of our livelihoods,” Alastor replied and laid back down. “I’m not upset, merely shocked.”
He only said that for his mother’s sake. He’d startled her too.
The Lucifer he’d seen so far didn’t seem like a businessman, at least not one he’d seen before. He was always so open and vulnerable. Perhaps he was only like that with people he trusted. Alastor’s smile relaxed at the thought.
Lucifer really could have anyone he pleased. He had even been with an extremely attractive actress and he was choosing to be with Alastor. He wasn’t really worried about Lucifer’s recent breakup with Eve. He seemed more angry than upset about the whole ordeal anyway.
The only real problem would be the long distance. Alastor wasn’t really sure how a long distance relationship even worked. Did it work? He’d been told before that they were impossible.
His thoughts were interrupted when Vaggie spoke.
“Charlie, what’s wrong?” She asked as she stood to greet Charlie. “Why are you back so soon? Where’s your dad?”
Alastor sat up when he heard Vaggie’s first question and looked around as she asked the second.
“Vaggie,” Charlie threw herself at her girlfriend and cried. “Dad got hurt and it’s all my fault. Ugh, if I hadn’t been so careless.”
Alastor’s heart pounded loudly in his chest but he stayed calm and waited for more information.
“Calm down, sweetie,” Vaggie picked her up and returned to the chair with a crying Charlie in her lap. “What happened?”
“I wanted to take a picture with this big fish,” she spoke quickly with tears in her eyes. “And so I gestured to dad and he got in front of the fish and got the camera ready but I moved too quickly and the fish darted away. It rammed right into my dad’s stomach and he even spat out the regulator.” She buried her face in her palms. “I pulled him out of the water and the rental shop employee came to help and then they called the ship and they sent an emergency team. He wheezed out that I should go enjoy the rest of the land time and come find him later.”
Charlie sucked in a huge breath.
“But how can I sit on the beach and not worry when he’s been taken to the ship’s infirmary,” she wailed loudly. “I should have known better. I should have been more careful.”
“Charlie, it’s not that big of a deal as long as he didn’t inhale water,” Vaggie stated calmly and rocked her girlfriend gently.
Alastor agreed. Getting hit by a fish likely didn’t have any lasting damage. Worst case scenario he might have bruised a rib. But Charlie was also right, how could they relax and enjoy while he was in the infirmary? It would be rude and Alastor would prefer to lay in bed than on the beach anyway.
“Why don’t we head back to the boat and check on him,” Alastor suggested. “We don’t have much time left anyway and I’m sure your father would love to see you.”
“I would love that,” Charlie scrambled to get out of her girlfriend’s lap. “I’m getting tired anyway. That whole situation drained me.”
His mother separated from them the moment they boarded the ship stating that she needed a nap before dinner and to wish Lucifer a quick recovery. Alastor caught the sly smile she sent him before leaving.
Lucifer was walking out of the infirmary when they arrived. Charlie hugged him carefully.
“Are you really ok, dad?” she said with eyes full of tears.
“I’m fine, princess,” his voice was still strained as he hugged her back. “Please just don’t tell anyone I lost a fight to a fish.”
She giggled shakily with him.
“I have a small bruise,” he said as he pulled away. “Got some cream for it. I just got the wind knocked out of me but I didn’t drink or inhale any water so I’m fine. Just need to rest for a while and I’ll be good for dinner.”
“I’m so relieved,” Charlie hugged him again then shoved him into Alastor. “Do you mind taking care of him until dinner? I really need a shower.”
Charlie practically had hearts in her eyes as she spoke. Vaggie looked more skeptical.
“Absolutely, my dear,” Alastor replied merrily. He may as well play along. “Leave him in my very capable hands.”
“Perfect,” she squealed, then grabbed Vaggie’s hand and dragged her away.
“Shall we return to your room?” Alastor asked and offered his hand. “Would you like me to carry you?”
“I can manage,” Lucifer rolled his eyes but took the offered hand. “I think a shower and nap is called for though.”
They began walking back to the room.
“I would say it's a necessity,” Alastor waved a hand in front of his nose. “You reek of fish.”
“Do I really?” Lucifer flushed and sniffed his shirt.
He glared when Alastor started laughing.
“You’re supposed to take care of me, not make fun of me,” Lucifer pouted but his lips twitched upward.
“I believe the fish bruised your ego more than your torso,” Alastor laughed at his dumbfounded look.
“It was a huge fish!” he shouted.
“I suppose anything would be huge to you,” Alastor mocked.
“You’re unbelievable,” he grumbled and pulled his hand away.
Alastor was worried for a moment that he’d taken it too far but Lucifer hugged his arm and pressed his face against Alastor’s bicep.
“I’ll be forced to punish you for your sass,” Lucifer yawned. “We’re going to snuggle for our whole nap.”
“Oh, the inhumanity,” Alastor looked up and placed the back of his hand against his forehead. “However, shall I survive such a terrible punishment?”
Lucifer laughed as he detached himself to open the door.
“Since I smell like a fish, I’ll shower first,” Lucifer stated as he headed toward the bedroom.
Alastor grabbed one of the waters from the minifridge and stared out at the ocean as he slowly drank it. Once he was done he went to find Lucifer in the bathroom.
“Lucifer,” his eyes widened in shock. “That’s not a small bruise.”
The bruise was the entire width of his torso and the length was from the bottom of his ribs to his bellybutton. He was standing in front of the sink mirror in only a pair of boxers.
“Charlie feels guilty enough as it is,” Lucifer stated as he rubbed the cream in gently. “Please don’t say anything to her.”
Alastor sighed and walked over to him.
“I suppose it really was a big fish,” he chuckled as he grabbed the gauze. “Let me wrap you up.”
He quickly wrapped the bruise so the cream wouldn’t smear on anything. He sent Lucifer ahead of him and took his own shower. He was filthy from the cave and sandy from the beach. He could only wonder what diving would have left on him. He dressed in shorts before exiting the bathroom.
Alastor hadn’t really felt tired until he slipped into the bed next to Lucifer. He hoped the smaller man had remembered to set an alarm because he wasn’t going to mess with the clocks now. He wrapped his arms around Lucifer and pulled him close so they were back to chest.
He felt Lucifer sigh contentedly before he quickly fell asleep.
Alastor tried not to yawn while they waited for the captain to arrive. He couldn’t remember the name of the restaurant but it had the best view by far. Floor to ceiling windows even bigger than Lucifer’s room and the perfect view of the sunset. Truly beautiful and all Alastor wanted to do was go back to bed. He’d almost asked if they could just get room service.
Lucifer was in a worse state. He had bags under his eyes and anytime he reached for his drink he winced. Alastor just moved the cup closer to the edge to make it easier to grab. Lucifer replaced it in the same spot.
“Captain Pentious!” Lucifer stood up and walked over to hug the snakeman. “How have you been?”
Charlie got up to hug him too.
“I’ve been doing well,” he said happily with a slight hiss. “The high seas have been my calling all along.”
All three took their seats and the captain told a daring story of adventure that Alastor was certain was a lie. It was a cruise ship not a pirate ship. It took him a moment longer to realize that Pentious was actually just talking in flourish and exaggeration.
“How are things going with Cherri?” Charlie asked as soon as he was done.
“Oh uh,” the captain removed his hat. “We shared a drink at the bar the other day.”
“Together this time?” Lucifer questioned.
“We sat next to each other,” he answered quickly. “But she was technically with Angel Dust.”
Lucifer shook his head with a small smile.
“You’ll get her next time,” he patted the captain on the back.
“Maybe we can help,” Charlie offered.
“No,” Vaggie grabbed her shoulder. “Remember what happened last time.”
“Oh, right,” she deflated.
“Charlie got Pentious to buy her a drink and when she asked why he did that he said he wanted to buy everyone a drink,” Lucifer leaned over to whisper. “Would have wasted a whole paycheck if I hadn’t covered for him.”
Alastor raised a brow in disbelief but didn’t make a sound otherwise. He would have normally laughed but he didn’t want his mother to get upset with him again.
“I have a full proof plan,” Pentious announced. “I’ll tell her about this really cool bar and ask her to accompany me once we land.”
“Ohh, what bar?” Charlie asked excitedly.
“I haven’t found one yet,” he slumped a bit. “But once I do, I’ll ask.”
“I wish you luck,” Lucifer gave him a fake smile.
“And what about you, Lucifer?” he glanced at Alastor for a moment. “What happened to Eve?”
Lucifer frowned and sighed dejectedly.
“I’m surprised Angel and Husk didn’t already spread the gossip,” he huffed. “She dumped me.”
“For a really dumb reason,” Charlie said with a frown. “She told him she wasn’t ready to be a mother yet. I’m an adult, she was never going to be my mother. I thought we could be friends, though.”
“She was probably just seeking attention,” Vaggie stated with irritation. “Remember how upset she got when Lucifer refused to take her to that work party.”
“That party wasn’t even fun,” Lucifer rolled his eyes and slumped. “I left as soon as I could.”
“Are you truly that famous?” Alastor asked. He may be the owner of the Lulu corporation but it paled in comparison to his ex-wife’s profession. Actors were more well known than CEOs.
“I have a lot of connections people want to exploit,” Lucifer answered as he shifted in his chair uncomfortably. “Especially since I’m close with my ex-wife. She’s an actress.”
“Vaggie told us about that,” Marie chimed in. “She’s a really good actress.”
“She’s the best,” Lucifer said proudly. “She does well in every role.”
Alastor’s eye twitched with irritation. Though Lucifer’s words were true, he still didn’t want to hear him praise his ex when he was actively courting Alastor. He tamped down his irritation as the waiter came by to take their orders.
“You really like steak, huh Alastor?” Lucifer smiled at him fondly. “What seasonings do you prefer?”
“It depends on the cut and the animal,” Alastor replied. “I season beef differently than venison.”
“You like venison?” he asked.
“It’s my favorite,” he answered.
“I’ll have to keep that in mind,” Lucifer stated as he picked up his cup.
He must have picked it up too fast as he flinched and dropped the glass. Alastor was quick to grab the cup before it could completely spill. Only a bit went over the edge. He gently lowered the cup onto the table.
Lucifer had placed a hand against his diaphragm and was taking slow measured breaths. His face slightly contorted in pain.
“Hopefully you planned a rest day for tomorrow,” Alastor stood to start cleaning up the spilled water. “You’re going to need it.”
“Dad, are you sure you’re ok?” Charlie gave him a worried look.
“I’m fine,” his voice was strained again. “I just moved too quickly and the sharp pain surprised me. We’ll probably leave right after eating so I can rest. Thankfully, I did plan a rest day for tomorrow so I’ll be good as new for Friday’s activities.”
“I heard about the fish incident,” Pentious looked concerned. “How big was it?”
“Huge,” Charlie responded and spread her arms wide to indicate the size. “Like this big.”
Alastor finished drying the table and sat back down. He’d give the wet cloth napkins to the waiter next time they stopped by.
“Oh my,” Pentious’s eyes widened with amazement. “Lucky it didn’t carry you off.”
“That definitely would have been bad,” Lucifer chuckled. “I'd have to start a whole new life with a fish family.”
Charlie gasped dramatically. “Do you think your fish spouse would be pretty?”
Lucifer clutched his diaphragm as he tried to laugh softly.
“I thought we were heading back to your room,” Alastor stated as he looked out at the last vestiges of the sunset over the water. The colors reflected in the water almost seemed unreal.
“I just want to show you something,” Lucifer smiled sweetly and tugged his hand eagerly. “Come on.”
Alastor merely lengthed his strides to speed up.
“I'm sure you already know this but everything planned today was originally for Eve,” Lucifer frowned. “All of my preplanned romantic ideas were for her.”
“Our original agreement did have me replacing her as your companion,” he said lightly. He wasn’t offended nor bothered by this fact. “My enjoyment isn't hampered by that.”
“I know but I wanted to do something special....something with just you in mind,” Lucifer’s lips pressed into a firm line. “It might not be perfect but I planned it just for you.”
“Aren’t you tickling my curiosity?” Alastor’s smile widened.
Lucifer paused in front of red double doors outlined in gold.
“Close your eyes,” Lucifer released him and grabbed the handle but didn't turn it.
Alastor did as instructed and heard the door open. Lucifer led him inside and he heard the door shut before he was pulled deeper into the room. Alastor’s ears twitched as he tried to hear any noise that would indicate what was in the room. There was nothing but their footsteps.
Lucifer stopped walking and took hold of both his hands. It reminded Alastor of how they held each other in the glow worm cave.
“Open,” Lucifer practically sang.
Alastor opened his eyes to dim lights. As his eyes adjusted he realized that there were faint lights above them. Fairy lights were strung from the ceiling and they slowly shifted color.
His ears twitched when he heard one of his favorite jazz songs start to play. It was a swing song he often danced to at his friend’s bar.
“My original plan was to dance with you,” Lucifer sounded remorseful. “Swing music is a bit vigorous to dance to though so I can't do that now.”
“Do you know the steps?” Alastor asked curiously.
“I don't,” he chuckled softly. “I thought it’d be romantic for you to teach me. I'd probably fall or look silly and you'd make fun of me and laugh. It would have been fun.”
Lucifer likely learned about his pension for nineteen twenties songs and dances from his mother. Warmth spread through his chest that he'd done this specifically for Alastor. Lucifer figured out what he liked and tried to make a last minute plan around it. It would have been perfect if not for that damn fish. He briefly considered going back to see if he could hunt the wretched thing down.
“It will be fun,” Alastor said resolutely as he grabbed Lucifer’s chin and lifted it so that he was looking up at him. “Another day. Don't learn how to dance until then.”
Lucifer's face turned a lovely shade of red.
“Perhaps we can go back and dance in the glow worm cave,” Alastor suggested. “That would be nice.”
Lucifer’s eyes widened slowly as he took in the meaning behind Alastor’s words. Lucifer’s free arm circled his waist and pulled him closer. Alastor’s heart skipped a beat once they were flush.
“I think there's a glow worm cave in Alabama,” Lucifer whispered and raised to his tiptoes. “We can make a weekend trip of it.”
“Sounds lovely,” Alastor said breathlessly as he bent to softly join their lips.
Alastor moved his hand from Lucifer’s chin to cup his face. He ran a thumb over the red dot and realized that the skin was slightly softer.
Lucifer broke the kiss but didn't lower himself.
“Alastor, I really like you,” he said between pants.
“I like you, too,” Alastor replied with another kiss. “Perhaps tomorrow, we can simply get to know each other better.”
“I'd like that,” Lucifer smiled dopily. “Are we…” he hesitated then asked unsurely. “Going steady now?”
Alastor snorted. It seemed Lucifer was worse at this than he was.
“Don’t laugh at me,” he complained jokingly. “I've never been good at this part.”
“Let’s hope you never have to put it into practice again,” Alastor kissed him a bit longer this time. “We should head back to the room.”
“Yeah,” Lucifer lowered himself. “I think I overdid it.” He shot Alastor with a coy smile. “I don't suppose you'd carry me back.”
Alastor laughed and stooped down to scoop him up. Lucifer yelped in surprise and threw his arms around Alastor’s neck.
In retaliation, Lucifer pressed kisses along his jaw and neck the entire walk. Uncaring how many people they had to pass to return to his room.
The struggle to open the doors was well worth it to keep Lucifer in his arms.
“Are you going to ravish me?” Lucifer asked huskily as Alastor laid him on the bed.
“Hmm,” Alastor straightened to look down at his lover. He trailed a hand down Lucifer’s chest. “Perhaps I can be persuaded.”
“Anything in particular you want to hear,” Lucifer smirked. “Or should I guess?”
“I would love to see your creativity shine,” Alastor replied smugly.
“Alright, give me a moment,” Lucifer stated as he reached for his pants.
He pulled the shirt out of his pants and Alastor’s eyes zeroed in on V learning to his pelvis. Lucifer freed his tail with a sigh.
“Oh?” He smirked when he caught Alastor staring. “Do I just need to strip?”
Alastor had no idea how to start. He tried to recall what Lucifer did but could only remember the various marks on his thighs. Lucifer was seamless at this while Alastor felt like he was floundering.
Lucifer must have noticed his hesitance as he rolled over then patted the bed next to him with a warm smile.
“Lay down with me,” he said comfortingly. “You're overthinking it.”
Alastor’s ears drew back as he laid on his side to face Lucifer.
“Kiss me, touch me,” Lucifer moved closer until they were pressed against each other. “Just explore. I'll tell you if I don't like something.”
They kissed languidly and Lucifer fisted the front of his shirt. Occasionally, Lucifer broke the kiss to breath but he was never gone for long.
Alastor’s hand trailed up his torso under his shirt, going past the bandages.
“Nnngh,” Lucifer moaned loudly when his fingers brushed against a nipple.
“Don't patronize me,” Alastor said against his lips.
“I'm just trying to encourage you,” Lucifer chuckled. “If you don't like that then how about this.”
He palmed Alastor’s ass and pulled until something hard was pressed against his stomach.
“Is that better?” Lucifer kissed his jaw.
Alastor kissed him again just to shut him up. Little did he know how useless that was against the smaller man. Lucifer grabbed the hand underneath his shirt and pulled it downward until he positioned Alastor’s palm over his cock. He pressed Alastor’s hand against himself harshly and moaned deep in his throat.
With a growl, Alastor pulled his hand away and pushed Lucifer to his back to straddle him.
“I believe you're supposed to lie still while I ravish you,” he glared at the smug man beneath him.
“My apologies,” Lucifer grinned mischievously and put his hands behind his head. “Ravish away.”
Lucifer’s stare was not making it any easier.
Alastor decided to just do what he’d seen in the silly romance movies his mother made him watch. He started by placing soft kisses along Lucifer's neck, he nipped a few times and heard the other’s breath catch. He methodically unbuttoned Lucifer’s shirt and trailed down to his collarbone.
He lightly sucked on the skin at first but Lucifer’s suppressed moan encouraged him to suck harder. As Alastor worked another hickey onto Lucifer’s collarbone, his fingers roughly rubbed against a nipple. Lucifer hissed in a breath when he pinched it. He pulled the bud while his mouth moved over the other.
Lucifer’s hips bucked upward when Alastor flicked the little bud with his tongue.
“I’m already all worked up,” Lucifer suddenly seized his hips and pressed him down on his clothed cock. “Alastor, please stop teasing me.”
Heat shot through him as Lucifer pulled his body down to grind against him. Alastor gasped as Lucifer opened his pants and palmed him through his boxers.
“I’m sorry, my sweet,” his voice was deep with arousal. “I’m going to have to speed things up a bit.”
He pulled Alastor’s cock free and stroked him a few times. He rubbed the tip with his thumb to spread the clear liquid already leaking from it.
“Mmmm,” Alastor screwed his eyes shut and gripped the sheets next to Lucifer’s head.
“You’re so gorgeous,” Lucifer said breathlessly.
Alastor cracked his eyes open to look down at Lucifer’s soft smile and blown out eyes. His gaze shot downward when he felt something hot press against his erection. Lucifer had undone his own pants and was attempting to grip them both with one hand.
“I think we’ll need your lovely fingers for this one,” Lucifer brought Alastor’s hand to his mouth to press a soft kiss on the palm. Then he sensually licked from the wrist to the tip on his longest finger.
Alastor’s mind went blank at the display and his breathing quickened. His focus was on Lucifer’s forked tongue as he licked his lips. Lucifer maneuvered Alastor’s hand to encircle them both but he didn’t let go. He guided Alastor into a quick rhythm.
Lucifer’s cock was bigger and he made a delightful little noise everytime Alastor stopped to rub the flushed head. The natural lubricant leaking from the tip quickened their pace.
Alastor realized that if he hadn’t fallen asleep on Monday then Lucifer would have fucked him. Would have filled him. Stretched him out. He moaned when he recalled the feel of Lucifer’s finger’s inside him and his hole clenched in anticipation.
His body grew warmer with need. Pleasure swirled in his core, he was close but was stuck on the precipice. He wanted more.
Lucifer grabbed a fistful of hair and pulled him down into a brutal kiss. The new angle caused their lower halves to press even closer together. Alastor let out a loud whine when Lucifer rubbed the base of his ear.
Another rub sent him over the edge. He felt his own cock pulse as he spilled over Lucifer’s stomach and bandages. Lucifer didn’t release him. He continued to guide Alastor’s hand over their cocks and delved his tongue deeper into Alastor's mouth.
“Alastor!” Lucifer broke the kiss to moan his name. He bucked his hips and arched his back as he came.
Alastor collapsed on top of him while his body trembled slightly. His forehead collided with the mattress as he panted into Lucifer’s neck.
Lucifer kissed his shoulder.
“Don’t you dare fall asleep,” he chuckled. “We still need to clean up.”
