Chapter Text

“Hello, Oji. Uncle Kai. Please if you receive this you have to know something very important. Okan, she—Mom….I-I think she is gone. Mom is gone! I’m so sorry!” Hana’s eyes blurred with tears. “If you happen to find me I’m with Peli. Currently we are somewhere in Philadelphia, I don’t know where exactly….please still be out there.”

Hana walked back and handed the blonde haired mother her phone back. “Thank you for letting me borrow it.”

”You’re very welcome,” she replied. “Might I ask, Why did you need it?”

“My uncle, he lives just a few cities away. Im

trying to get to him but I don’t have the money to.”

”Well for now I can help you get cleaned up” Natalie said, “Mom can take care of that baby.”

Hana looked hesitant, “I mean I suppose, but only for the night.”

”Don’t worry we aren’t going to bring any harm to the young one.” The mother said with a reassuring expression.

Hana reluctantly handed Penelope over, not admitting that even she needed a break from caring for the child.

The two older girls went to the bathroom. Natalie helped Hana get cleaned up from all the dirt she acquired from her short time on the streets. Providing hot water which she was missing in those couple of weeks, feeling the excess grease and build up of oils leave her hair.

When she came out she had a new pair of pajamas that the blonde haired girl loaned her. After returning to the living room she saw her sister sound asleep in what looked to be a small basket on the couch.

She glances around, “Where’s–where’s my backpack?”

”I hope you don’t mind but I put all the clothes that you had in there through the wash…I even packed a few extra things in it.” She winked

”Uhm…Thank you Miss.”

”How about I get dinner ready?”

”I haven’t had a home cooked meal in a while,” Hana let out a small chuckle, letting the small grin slip between her lips. “Think that might be a good change of pace.”

When Hana walked out to the table, it was like a buffet. Tons of food that a middle class family of two could have in their small apartment.

“You didn’t have to!” She insisted

“But we did, as a favor for you, after all it looked like you could use a good meal after your treacherous journey by your lonesome.” The older woman warmly said

“I-I don’t know what to say.”

”How about dig in?!” Natalie exclaimed

After dinner Hana got her baby sister situated in the guest room with her laying down on the plain memory foam mattress.

”Don’t worry peli, I won’t let anyone separate us. Even if taking care of you is such a pain sometimes. I swear I’ll protect you from that Medusa or whatever she was.”

Hana let out a yawn and turned, placing her arm under her head as she stared at the blank wall until her eyes felt too heavy to stay awake and slid closed.

Hana found herself in a field of the most greenest of grass she ever laid her eyes on. Familiarity washed over her as if she was standing here before.

She glanced over and saw a sign as if welcoming her to the state border.

“The dream meadows?” She mused, cocking her head. “Beautiful, familiarly beautiful.”

She had a feeling that she was in the world but not in this particular place.

She walked along taking in her surroundings, long blades of grass and the softest of clovers brushing beneath her feet. Above her were giant planet sized bubbles above her.

She saw many creatures grazing around the vivid world. Horses roaming, birds and dragons flying through the sapphire skies, and other strange creatures like friendly looking gargoyles perched up in the trees.

Waving to a few who glanced her way. She was confused at the fact when she gave them friendly waves some of them gave her a small bow of acknowledgment. Hana had a feeling she was supposed to know, but, as if it were buried under  something like a couple years of childhood amnesia.

When she got to the top of a hill she spotted a giant castle in the near distance.

Hana remembered being interested in very girly things like castles, and princesses, and fairies, till like the age of 8. Of course that wasn’t her only interest at the time but she calls it one of her main interests.

She picked up her pace and sped towards the intricate medieval looking castle.

If childhood Hana picked up one thing it was a little history on castle architecture. She even has times where her cousin would steal her history books –these few things her ADHD mind would settle down to and hyper-fixated on– or go on rants about other boring things he would be interested in that he thought would be relevant to the subject.

Hana lamented, she hadn’t seen her cousin in two years since he was about 12 and they took a trip with their parents.

The teen swung the biggest and most heaviest pairs of doors she could find not knowing what she would find on the other side. But what she did find was another person, a tall figure with shimmering skin. You could see the features almost shift in the light like a mirage.

He sat on the bottom of what looked to be a throne.

He had ebony hair like her and his bright fuchsia eyes glowed with ancient power.

The man glanced up at gave her a gentle smile, beckoning her closer.

She looked hesitant, skeptical at first but she didn’t sense no malice from the man.

When she came about arms length from him he reached out and touched her cheek. “My, you have grown up so much little one.”

Hana glanced up at him, her eyes met his.

”You have your mother’s glean in your beautiful eyes.”

His touch felt gentle and soft on her freckled ridden face.

Her studious eyes glance at him with an almost unbelievable expression as if she was witnessing something familiar from long ago.

”You do remember me, don’t you?” His hands trail down, meeting her warm palms, “You remember your own father.”
