Frozen Over

Summary:

Stupid, ignorant, helpless

Fuyumi Todoroki is none of these things. But she sure does feel like it.

So many things happen in her life that she feels… not numb, but frozen over. It feels like her glass isn’t half empty or half full. But filled to the breaking point where the water has to be constantly frozen to keep it from spilling out.

She can only take so much.

Or: a Fuyumi-centric fic that may or may not end with a happy todoroki family

Notes:

Just a silly little Fuyumi fic because no one makes fics with the type of theme I want. Slow updates because of mobile. Expect bad writing!

Chapter 1: Beginning

Chapter Text

Fuyumi’s life was terrible. There was no simpler way to put it. She was miserable and she was only 12. She tried to hide it as best she could, but a few people always saw through her, including her brother Touya.

They were best friends. Often times they would cuddle close to each other so their quirks could cancel out. When they touched Fuyumi finally warmed up and Touya finally cooled down. But her father for some reason always split them up when, she guessed it was because he didn’t want his son hanging around a failure.

She hated the hero life. For gods sake she wasn’t even a hero! And she still hated it.

Of course there were some good things coming from the hero lifestyle. Like the riches and easy living. But her family sucked.

She could hear her youngest brother getting beaten, hear her older brother sobbing in his room after getting home from doing god knows what. She knew he snuck out all the time but for what? He always came home with burns so she assumed training, but she didn’t say anything. Touya was… cold. After shouto was born he wasn’t his normal happy self, more stand-offish.

She never knew her younger brother very well, but sometimes, when she knew her father was out on patrol, she would sneak into Shoutos room to see him.

shouto,” her voice broke the silent sobbing of her brother. “Are you okay?” Her voice was a little louder now she knew she had his attention. “Do you need me to patch up any burns?”

The younger boy silently nodded his head as Fuyumi made her way over to his bed with the first aid kit already in hand.

”You know, I used to patch Touya up like this too after he trained.” It was all she said but it clearly made his eyes sparkle. ‘hope.. or maybe wonder’ was what she thought quietly in her head. She came to the conclusion he was just happy to learn about his brother

She patched him up as slowly as she could, trying to spend as much time with her brother as possible. She didn’t spend much time with her family after mom disappeared. Touya moved out of her room so she was alone most of the days where she was at the house.

”There, all done,” she said with the biggest smile she could make on her face.

thank yo-“ was all the quiet voice said before they heard the front door slam open. Both the small children scrambled to separate from each other. Expecting their father to march in and shove both of them on other side of the earth. But they never heard their father move from downstairs.

hesitantly Fuyumi walked downstairs. Terrified but still wanted to make sure her father was okay.

”father, are you alright?” She could hear small shuffles behind her. She knew they were shoutos by the way small hands reached to grab onto her shirt, staying out of few from their surprisingly-not-flaming father.

Their father didn’t seem to acknowledge the little figure behind Fuyumi, or just seemed to ignore it. Too distraught to get up from where he collapsed on the floor.

“Touya is… gone,”

Fuyumi’s eyes went wide and dimmed ever so slightly you would have to squint to see it. Her heart froze over, making it difficult to thaw it out and keep herself together.

————————————————————

“Mrs. Todoroki” a quiet voice from one of her students. She was still hanging out in her classroom, way past the scheduled pick up time. “I’m sorry for being a burden… and making you stay late.”

”No worries Aiko! I’m more than happy to stay late accompanying you!” She flashed the girl a big smile. Aiko’s eyes lit up a little before continuing to work on a drawing for her favorite teacher.

Fuyumi was just grading papers anyways and it also gave her a reason to not go home. She zoned out a little working on grading but the faint sound of heels clicking snapped her out of it.

A woman in her mid 30’s burst through the door, panting. “Oh my gosh I’m so sorry I didn’t realize how late I was! I’m so sorry Aiko and Mrs todoroki!” The woman practically yelled.

”No need to worry Mrs. Kado! Aiko gave me some amazing company while I graded papers.” The teacher with platinum white hair and red streaks said in return.

“You’re too kind,” was all Aiko’s mother said before beckoning her over. “C’mon Aiko I promised you we would get ice cream so let’s go!”

Aiko perked up after hearing this and almost ran out the door before screaming “bye sensei thank you for the lunch!” Giving Fuyumi an excited wave.

Aiko’s mom had a confused look on her face before Fuyumi decided to speak up. “I made her some soba because her lunch spilled over before she got to eat any,” she said.

The kind mother gave her a grateful smile before bowing her head and walking out the door.

Fuyumi began packing up her things to go home, she had no reason to stay in the school building so she might as well go home and start dinner. While she was walking out the front doors to the school she turned her phone back on. School policy said no staff could have their phones turned on but could have it in their person for emergencies. Immediately after she turned it on her phone blew up with a bunch of text and a call from a number she recognized as U.A high school. She nearly dropped all her belongings at the sight but was able to keep hold of everything and only stumbling back a few inches.

”hello?” She breathed out into the phone’s microphone.

“Hello this is eraserhead. We are calling because Shouto Todoroki and his classmates were attacked at the U.A training camp. We need you to-“ the man on the phone whom she recognized as Shouto’s homeroom teacher continued talking about something that happened with Shouto and his class. But his voice tuned out and her breathing picked up causing her to panic and drop all her stuff except for the phone which used to be carefully held up to her ear but was now gripped tightly in her fingers.

Her heart sank.

‘What is happening  at the hero school.’

Chapter 2: Classic todoroki rage

Summary:

The classic todoroki rage seems to be directed to a certain baggy eyed hero today. Also a very confused Shouto watching his sister almost freeze everyone to death.

Chapter Text

Shouta was extremely tired today.

After everything at the hero training camp he was sitting in the lobby calling the parents of each of the young hero students, vlad king, the class B teacher, sitting beside him doing the same. They were both finished with their calls and they just… sat in silence. It was the morning after the attack, most students still at the hospital with the exception of the students who were picked up early. A few students were still knocked out, or even worse, broken.

The only thing he was thinking was wanting to take a nap but a quiet chatter of teeth from his fellow teacher broke him out of his thoughts. “Are you cold, Vlad?” Was what he asked. It was weird for Vlad to get cold because his quirk often kept his blood running quicker than most. I guess Shota didn’t notice how cold he was while in his thoughts, but know he was freezing!

He looked around trying to find the cause of the freezing cold.

todoroki?’ He thought. With no sight of the two-toned boy he just sighed and dropped his head. His eyes were closed for god knows how long until the temperature dropped even more.

He snapped his eyes open and immediately eyed the frost trailing the floor. he followed the frost to the front doors of the hospital and stared at it for quite some time.

He was about to give up and look back down until the door opened to reveal a young woman with pasty white hair, red streaks, and glasses.

He couldn’t stop himself from flinching. He tried to plaster a nonchalant look on his face in hopes it worked. But glancing to the side to see a distraught Tsu made him realize he failed miserably at it.

If he was being honest, he was terrified of the woman. He was also extremely worried for his students sitting in the lobby. He knew Tsu was gonna go into hibernation but luckily when he looked over he saw her leaning against a relaxed shouto staring at the woman in the doorway.

some of the other students were panicked and thought it was a villain, but the scarred teenager just sat there.

The woman in the doorway wasn’t moving. Spikes of ice were spraying from her hand up along the doorway of the hospital, but nobody moved. They all were equally scared of the furious young adult in the doorway.

Her whole face was shadowed, but her eyes… her grey eyes were sharp and piercing. The woman was clearly furious and you could see the rage simmering under her skin.

She was staring directly at Shouta, and that terrified him even more. Something was keeping him from moving and he didn’t know what.

The ice continued to grow. It made a glacier so big and tall that there was no doubt the woman could probably make a glacier bigger than todoroki’s!

The ice eventually stopped growing but not because she couldn’t make any more, but because she was holding back as hard as she could to not freeze anyone in her line of sight. She was very careful with her quirk, gently guiding it away from people as to not hurt them by accident. But she was so obviously so close to being out of control.

No body moved for what seemed like hours until one of his quieter student spoke up, louder then normal.

”Fuyumi?”

Shouta broke his gaze with the women to glance at the teen. Wondering their relationship with eachother.

click

She was his older sister. He noticed it seemed that all of the todoroki heirs had that same familiar rage. Endeavors was flaming and loud, where his student was a mix of loud and cold. But the older sister of his students, was cold, rigid, and surprisingly… silent. Just like ice.

The woman promptly ignored her younger sibling and started to stomp towards the underground hero, ice slivering even more towards the hero, creating a small wall behind him.

She opened her mouth to speak. Poison seeping into her words. “We need to talk, Eraserhead.

—————————————————————

She didn’t mean to ignore her younger brother but she was boiling with silent rage and so desperately needed to find someone to point it at. Seems like the irresponsible U.A staff was what she decided on.

Fuyumi stomped up to the seemingly homeless looking man and stopped in front of him, finger pointed right at his face with a stance like she was about to scream at the top of her lungs.

”We need to talk, Eraserhead.”

He looked terrified of her and a few young teenagers, probably his students, tried to get closer to her to try and save their teacher. But she held her gaze, blocking off the students with an accidentally huge glacier.

The man just simply put up one of his hand and nodded, trying to calm her down. She was still furious but dialed back a little so she wouldn’t accidentally freeze someone in a glacier.

She couldn’t hold her quiet words back anymore and impromptly yelled at the man.

”WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON AT THIS SCHOOL!” She surprised herself at her own voice and turned the volume of her voice down quite a lot. “Why am getting a call from the number one hero school about a villain attack and a student getting kidnapped.” She said through gritted teeth.

The man flinched a little at this but immediately plastered his normal emotionless expression back in his face.

”Why don’t we go talk outside. Before you incase the whole hospital in an ice block.”

His comment didn’t seem to help because an even bigger glacier form all around them dropping the temperature to around -20 degrees Celsius.

The temperature immediately started to spike to a sorta-almost-not-freezing temperature as you could hear the sizzling of fire melting through the ice.

—————————————————————

Shouta was surprised to see his sister walk through the hospital doors only 20 minutes after his teacher called her.

He was even more surprised to see how angry she looked. Her terrifying grey eyes didn’t help either. Reminding him of his mother before she poured boiling hot water on him.

He felt really cold and could feel a smaller than usual teenage body huddling up to his left side. After seeing who it was he started to warm up his body heat to keep the girl from hibernating.

Time stood still for a long time before he finally broke the silence,

“Fuyumi?”

Almost immediately after he said this she stormed towards his teacher, very surprised at how she ignored him. And even more surprised at how she threw up a giant ice wall before his classmates could stop her from reaching his teacher.

He couldn’t hear much except for his sister talking which was muffled out by the glacier in front of him. The frog-like girl next to him was already in hibernation because of the decrease in temperature so he increased his body temp even more while some over classmates found so blankets for her.

A few more seconds of silence occurred before he could hear her usually kind sister yell at his teacher. There was even more muffled talking before he saw a ginormous glacier form all around his sister and teacher. So he finally moved to take action.

Raising his flames to melt the thick and freezing cold ice in front of him. Another thing he was surprised at was how the ice was so much bigger, colder, and thicker than his own. He also noticed how his sister managed to not hit anyone with her ice.

He raised the heat even more, desperately trying to make sure his teacher doesn’t get killed. He knew the Todoroki rage too much to know that it’s extremely intense even when it varies from person to person.

His flames finally melted a Shouto sized hole in the ice and he stepped through, nodding to his teacher and furious sister.

”Maybe we shouldn’t encase the hospital in ice.” He said quiet but also jokingly to his sister.

She immediately calmed down a little, much to the black haired man’s surprise after making practically the same joke.

“I’m sorry Shouto, you’re right. Eraserhead.” The tall hero shivered slightly. “Let’s step outside while my brother melts the ice.”

She then stormed out of the hospital with a frantic underground hero following after her, almost slipping in ice.

It was a weird sight to see, his usually kind sister yelling at his usually calm teacher. But he continued to melt the ice anyways, silently smiling at how scared his teacher was.

Notes:

Sorry for cutting the chapter short but I was busy! Next time we get to see Fuyumi yelling at an underground hero and shoutos friends bombarding him with questions!

Chapter Text

Fuyumi stormed outside, half expecting the pro hero not to follow, but instead she glanced back saw a middle aged man speeding after her, almost looking panicked. It was a really funny sight but she was still pretty angry so when she looked at him she accidentally gave him an angry glare.

She looked down to the ground facing the parking lot where the pro hero stopped 5 feet behind her facing herself.

Even though last time she almost froze everyone in ice he still tried making a joke.

”Well, now that you’re not at risk to freezing everyone, what did you want to talk about?”

This time Fuyumi could tell he tried to put a joking tone on his voice but it didn’t really work seeing as she got even angrier.

Without turning around she responded quietly. “I want to know if you think the hero course is safe for your students.”

She could hear the man behind her freeze, clearly not expecting a question like that.

“I think it is, if you couldn’t tell no one’s dead.”

no one’s dead?

that’s how he thinks of it?

”I’m sorry what did you say?” The bitterness in her voice made the homeless looking man raise an eyebrow. “No one’s dead he says. Is that seriously how you think of this situation! One of your students just got kidnapped! Now he’s probably locked in a basement with dangerous villains! Tell me Eraserhead,” -the pro hero made a confused expression- “What have you done to prove you're a good teacher?”

—————————————————————

The question the older todoroki asked was confusing to say the least.

What have you done to prove you’re a good teacher?”

He stood still for a moment, too confused to answer the question. “I’m sorry what do you mean by that question.”

”What have you done to prove you’re a good teacher? Have you ever helped your kids study? Have you ever protected them? Have you ever talked to them about therapy or their feelings? Do you even pay attention to your kids?”

Envy laced her words carefully, bitterness and anger accompanied it too but envy was the most notable. Shouts always knew something was wrong at the todoroki household but he always brushed it off assuming it was training. He really did want to ask but he didn’t want to make todoroki feel like he was pressured to answer.

He tried to open his mouth to answer but the angry woman cut him off quickly. “You’ve notice the burn on shoutos face haven’t you? The bruises, the cuts, the burns, all over his body. Why haven’t you said anything? And now one of your kids is kidnapped and all you say is ‘atleast no one’s dead?’ Shouto has been so social yet so quiet lately, he talks so much more than before but there’s still something so off about him. He’s traumatized Eraserhead. He may not have been in much trouble at the USJ. But when he got home I could hear him, silent tears falling from his face as his body ached. Now he avoids easy questions he used to answer simply. ‘How are you’ ‘how’s training’ ‘What do you want for dinner tonight’ Now all he can do is silently nod. Did you notice this Eraserhead? Did you?”

He was shocked at the sudden outburst. It was all spoken so quietly and without even looking at him, but he could tell the younger woman had tears streaming down her pale face.

She turned around, still expecting an answer from the tall, lithe man.

”I did notice, I-“

”And you didn’t do anything?” She said interrupting him.

They were now making eye contact, he didn’t avert his gaze anywhere else, the woman was much less terrifying now.

“Mrs. Todoroki, I didn’t ask questions because I didn’t want him to get nervous or become even more closed off. I overheard his classmates ask about his scar once and he stayed quiet the rest of the day. I didn’t want him to feel uncomfortable.” His voice was stern and got the message across fairly well. But the woman only nodded seeming to accept his answer.

”Tell me this then, do you think you can protect your students?”

—————————————————————

The man just gazed at her for a few moments before letting out a sigh.

”Well when it comes down to it, they are able to protect themselves I believe.”

I’m sorry, what?

”Eraserhead, what kind of bullshit answer is that? They are children, teenagers. What makes you think they can protect themselves against a dangerous villain organization. I don’t give a shit about what happened at the training camp because I know you’re not going to tell me, but I want you to actually pay attention to your fucking students.” She stepped a little closer to the man, the anger potent in her voice. “I’m a teacher too Eraser, I’ve done so much for them! What have you done Eraser? Because I’ll tell you what I’ve done. When the kids develop their quirk, it can be quite dangerous, let me tell you some of these incidents, Eraser.” Near the end of her sentence she gritted her teeth saying the man’s hero name.

She didn’t even notice her younger brother begin to walk out the hospital doors.

”I’ve been stabbed by multiple objects! Pencils from a wood related quirk, silverware from a scarily accurate knife throwing quirk, a fucking fence post from some kid with super strength throwing me into it! You know I had a hole through my stomach? I barely survived and I returned the next day! Wanna know some other quirk accidents? Being electrocuted, becoming high, getting hit by a bus, attacked by animals, and so much more. And quirk accidents aren’t the main reason for why I was hurt on the job. It’s mostly been villain attacks, and robbery’s, and harassment, and school shootings, bomb threats, parents, older siblings, trespassing, and all I do, is hide it for my students! They don’t know about any of it! I work my ass off to care for these kids knowing I won’t ever see them again! I buy things for them, I cook things for them, sometimes I drive them too and from school, I tutor them on weekends, I do everything for these kids! Tell me Eraserhead! What something you do for your kids!”

After her head cleared a little from the blinding rage, she could see the hero in front of her kneeling down to her, and her young brother standing off to the side with a concerned look on his face. At least he was showing emotion?

What just happened?

—————————————————————

Listening to the woman rant about her students really made the man think. Truly, what did he do for his kids? Sure he taught and trained them, he tried to protect them during villain attacks, but did he ever really try to talk to them? No he didn’t.

He snapped out of his thoughts when he saw the girl sobbing infront of him lose balance a little. He could tell she couldn’t see properly with the tears pouring out of her eyes so he moved a little closer to help her if she fell. Almost right on cue, her knees buckled sending her kneeling on the ground, just as she finished yelling at him.

She blinked for a few seconds before opened her eyes and stared at the man a foot away from her face. She reached her hand up to touch her face and gasped a little after she felt the wet tears on her face.

She tumbled ever so slightly as she stood up, using her quirk to ice her feet to the ground in an attempt to stabilize herself. Her gaze drifted to the teen next to Shouta, seeming to just notice her little brother right next to him.

”Oh my gosh,” her voice breaking in between words. “I’m so sorry for yelling at you I was just really worried about all the villain attacks and how Sho was doing! I was actually really panicked when you called and-“

”Ma’am it’s okay. If it makes you feel better, you're right.” Both todoroki’s were relatively surprised when he said that. It seemed like the woman was done with her fit of rage, seeming a significantly less angry now. But you could still see some in her eyes.

”Pardon?” The older todoroki said quickly.

”I’ve taken what you said to heart and your right, I don’t do much for my students and I will work on that more,” he bowed to her, hands at his sides and body tilted at an angle going forward starting at the waist.

“Oh please no need to bow I just yelled at you that makes me seem rude!” She held a nervous smile on her face and waved her hands in front of her to dismiss his bow. ‘She seems a lot like midoriya’ was what he thought of her.

“I really feel like I should get going now to make dinner, it’s almost 6:00 and I still need to get groceries,” -she turned to the two-toned boy- “Sho, you can either come with and I can drop you off in a day or two to check on your friends, or stay here at the hospital like some of your other classmates,” -She turned back to the hero- “He is allowed to stay at the hospital, right?”

”Yes, if he wants, but most of his classmates will be returning home tonight.”

The half-cold half-hot teen kept glancing back from the hero to his sister until he found a time to speak up. “I’d like to go with you, Yumi.”

And with that, the two todoroki heirs drove away in their car.

Cute nicknames’ he thought before he returned to the hospital to answer class A’s questions about the not-villain attack.

—————————————————————

“So,” Fuyumi said. “What would you like for dinner tonight? Cold soba?”

The quiet teen just nodded and looked ahead, they sat in silence listening to the soft music playing through the radio before the quieter of the two spoke up, “Would you like any help grocery shopping?”

”Thats okay Sho I like doing it myself,” She was happy he broke the silence first.

”Okay.”

The rest of the way home they sat in silence with the occasional road rage from Fuyumi.

After dropping Shouto off she drove to one of her favorite markets a few blocks over.

She grabbed a cart and walked through the isles. She was looking at the noodles before she stopped at her younger brother’s (and her) favorite soba brand.

’Sold out!’

She looked over to the cart next to her to see a cart stacked with probably the whole stock of the brand she wanted.

She glanced up to see the man pushing the cart.

Oh great, how can my day ever get worse. Oh well at least I had another reason to argue at someone.’

—————————————————————

Dabi was just minding his own business, shopping for his favorite soba noodles. He noticed the woman walk into the isle but he just ignored her. Now looking at hot sauce right next to the noodles.

”Excuse me!” He heard “Surely you don’t need all of those noodles?” He glanced down to see a woman with glasses and pale skin giving him an innocent smile, far from what he thinks she is.

He rolled his eyes and handed her a few packs, this was their weekly routine. Once a week they accidentally saw eachother in the store, Fuyumi would pester him for a few packs, and Dabi would reluctantly give her a few so she could leave her alone. Then they never spoke. He was surprised she didn’t rat him out to the police. But then again he has seen her get attacked by a villain, capture them, the proceed to lecture them about messing with the wrong lady and letting them go. It was weird but he never asked. They just quietly shopped, basically ignoring each other. This time was different though.

After the third time passing by each other in the store, she spoke up. “You know, I don’t think that attacking U.A was very nice. Why’d you do it?”

He didn’t answer, they weren’t supposed to be friends, to the other person, they both thought that neither knew each other's identity’s. That was wrong, well maybe not wrong for Fuyumi but Dabi didn’t know, he thought his secret identity was pretty good.

They stood in silence again, neither moving, until he spoke up again. “I’m sick of hero society.”

she just nodded and continued to shop. “Heard you kidnapped a kid,”

He froze, he knew she would let him do a lot of stuff before she got the police involved, but kidnapping was not one of those.

He didn’t directly kidnap the kid, he wasn’t even there, he refused to participate in kidnapping. But he was too scared of his sister the woman to answer. He knew she was terrifying from the last lecture she gave him.

”hmm?” She cocked an eyebrow at him.

”I wasn’t there, I didn’t participate in the kidnapping.”

She gave a satisfied nod and began to leave for checkout, but stopped before leaving the aisle.

”Kidnapping feels a little villain like, might want to reconsider kidnapping him and let him go, he seems like a good kid, he won’t join you anyways.” The anger in her voice was overwhelming and she left before the store before he could respond. But he did consider her words as he walked back to the bar, with dinner for himself and maybe toga.

————————————————————-

Fuyumi drew home without a second thought about the villain, deep down she knew it was touya but didn’t say anything to him.

She wouldn’t say she was breaking the law by not reporting a villain, she was just… turning a blind eye.

It’s not like they don’t have good reasons anyways.

Notes:

Fuyumi just understand that hero society Lowkey sucks :D

Chapter 4: Stories

Summary:

Dabi is slightly a good person, and Fuyumi tells her brother a story about how it’s her fault touyas “dead”

Notes:

9/21/24

I hope it’s clear that in this fic Dabi didn’t participate in the kidnapping/ didn’t make a league appearance yet, so still not super feared.

Chapter Text

When he finished paying, he walked through the streets with a few bags of food. Being the only one in the league not all over the news, he was also the only one able to get food. Sure Mr. Compress could, or Magne, honestly any of them could. But he was the only one not charged with kidnapping at the moment.

He opened to bar door and almost got tackled by a too-excited toga. He quickly dodged the knife trying to stab his stomach and walked into the bar’s kitchen.

”Oooh~ what’d you buy? Can I have some? Where’d you get the money for that? Dabiiiii answer my questionssss.”

The scarred man just ignored her questions and began heating up some water.

When he didn’t answer the blonde teen tried to stab him again, grazing his forearm.

”Careful crazy, I’ll make you some just leave me alone,” his voice was raspy, probably from all the smoke inhalation throughout the years.

He used some blue flames to heat up the water even faster and ended up making three bowls of soba.

“Hey Dabi didn’t see you walk in, any food for me?” The man who said that looked like a lizard. A gecko? Dabi wasn’t sure.

”Make your own food lizard.”

The scaled man with purple hair put a hand over his heart to mock being offended, and then proceeded into the kitchen.

”That smells so yummy! Thanks big bro!!”

”Don’t call me that. There’s hot sauce in it so there’s some water in the kitchen if you need.” He placed the bowl in front of the girl and walked away.

He walked by a woman with brown hair and heard her whisper to the blonde, “and he says he’s not like a big brother,” but he just rolled his eyes at the woman and walked away.

He went over to where the wild teenager was and place a bowl of to the side for him. He sat down at a barstool and started to eat his noodles, while the tied down blonde was eyeing him.

”You hungry, brat? It’s been two days,” No answer. “Oh come on they didn’t even cover your face can you answer or not?” The teen just glared at him, ‘Creepy’ the purple man thought to himself but kept eating anyways.

”Oh great you made food for him, Dabi you don’t treat kidnapped kids like guests,” an unimpressed man said, glaring at him through crazy blue hair.

”Whatever handyman, we need to talk,” he placed down his bowl and patted the bar stool next to him.

Fine, not in front of the hero brat though.”

The staples around the man’s mouth tighter as his mouth formed into a smirk. “Why not? I think he needs to be included in this conversation.”

The blue haired man muttered curse words under his breath before he sat at the bar, two seats away from the fire started.

”I think you should let the boy go.” The statement made both the hero teen and villain freeze in shock.

The man child almost disintegrated the bar when he heard this. “What did you just say?”

”I said let the boy go.”

”What the hell Dabi! You refuse to help attack U.A, you make food for the brat and not anyone else, and then you tell me to let him go! He’s an important player that I want in my party! Why should I let him go!” The man child yelled.

”He’s clearly not gonna join the league, despite his bad attitude and wild personality the kid doesn’t have the ability to be a villain, also keeping him in our possession will do more harm then good. The heroes will come looking for him and we could all go to jail, you don’t want that do you?”

”Whatever, it’s not up to you anyways.”

A little teen piped into the conversation. “Hey, what are we arguing about I want to be included!” She whined.

”I was just asking handyman why we kidnapped a kid, that’s not really up to stains ordeals is it?”

Everyone in the bar went silent, Mr. Compress and Spinned stopped silently chatting, Magne stopped painting her nails, and shigaraki’s shoulders tensed up.

”I mean, I don’t know about you but kidnapping this kid makes us worse than the heroes, and who knows, stain might approve of him.”

“Stain wouldn’t approve of him, he’s too feisty.”

”Stain did approve of the green kid though. Say wasn’t he on your kill list? Doesn’t seem like you’re doing what stain wanted at all.”

He smirked at the man with fiery blue eyes, watching as the rest of the league silently agreed. But then the girl with messy buns spoke up.

”Yea I agree, why was Izu-kun on your kill list. Didn’t Mr. Stain save him?”

The league whispered quietly among themselves before the mop-headed man snapped.

”It doesn’t matter! I’m the boss it isn’t up to you NPC’s!”

The light on the little TV in the bar flicked on, silencing everyone in the room.

”Now now tomura! Your friends are right, keeping the boy will cause more harm than good. But it is your decision, don’t disappoint me.” And the light turned back off.

Fine, release him. But you’re the one who has to walk him back to the heroes.” The bluenette was visibly angry, but Dabi didn’t care, he just untied the boy and let him stand up. He did cover his face with a blindfold though.

”Don’t try anything,” was all the black haired man said before grabbing the noodles he maid for him and leading the boy out.

Once outside they walked for a few minutes before the teen finally spoke up. “Oi, why’d you let me go, huh?”

”None of your business, just take these noodles and walk away, brat.” He took the blindfold off and handed him the bowl and a little yen. “Use this to call someone of something I don’t care just go away.”

He retreated back into an alley, listening to make sure the boy wasn’t following, and then started to head back to the bar.

Fuyumi drove home to start dinner and found her little brother next to her older brother’s shrine. She smiled a little before saying “Hey sho, I’m back,” the teen didn’t say anything just turned around and looked at her. “I’m gonna start on dinner now, do you want to… talk?”

The teen just nodded and followed her to the kitchen. She pointed at the cutting board and handed him some vegetable to hopefully get the message across. “So, what’s bothering you Sho?”

The teen started cutting the vegetables but stopped at the question. “It’s just, I can’t help but feel that it was my fault Touya died.”

She was stunned by the answer and could hear the pain in his voice. “Oh Sho, it was never your fault. It was everyone but your fault. It was dad’s for neglecting him, Natsuo’s for not listening,” -She paused, breathing in before continuing- “…Mom’s for not trying to help, and… mine for leaving him that night. But it was never yours Sho.”

Her brother looked at her with a confused expression, “What do you mean leaving him that night?”

”Why don’t I tell you a story, Sho,” both parties continuing to cook while Fuyumi talked.

—————————————————————

Her father just left for patrol, and she could hear her brother leave for Sekoto peak. She hurried out of bed and got dressed to follow, sneaking outside to help her brother with training.

”Fuyu-nee you have to stop following me, I don’t need your help!”

”Tou-nii please I don’t want you to get burned!” The little girl said while running after her brother.

Fine!” Was all he said.

The rest of the walk to Sekoto peak was silent. Fuyumi silently watched her brother train, watching how the fire around them turned tree to ash. The silent crackling of the fire broke by Fuyumi coughing from the smoke.

”Fuyu please you don’t have to stay it’s gonna damage your lungs.”

”No! I want to stay! I’ll be fine!”

Her brother just stayed silent and sat down next to her. Both listening to the sizzling of the fire.

Fuyumi cuddled closer, using her quirk to make it snow around the area, putting out the fire.

”Fuyumi please go home.” The boy had a few tear drop down his face into the ground, lightly cover by snow.

“Touya I’m not leaving, I want to help! I don’t want you to get hurt!”

the boy stood up abruptly, face twisting in anger. “He’s going to get mad at you! I don’t want your help! You're useless! Just like all the women in this family! Just go home Fuyumi!”

Through his anger his whole body lit on fire, burning his skin.

“Touya no!” The girl held her hand out to freeze her blazing brother, encasing him in a glacier that melted immediately. The flames increased in temperature, turning a bright blue color. She kept creating ice around him but it kept melting, luckily it saved him from major burns. But it did burn the little girls hand. She started to scream at the heat, worried about her brother, was holding up. But then a giant glacier came over the brother, freezing a part of the forest, but successfully extinguishing the flames.

Fuyumi looked down at her hands, her fingers turned a cold blue and were aching really badly. There was also a small burn in her forearm. But she wasn’t worried about that, she was worried about her steaming brother.

“Tou-nii!”

”I’m fine don’t worry.”

They both sat down on the bench in silence, Fuyumi using her quirk to stop her brother from overheating.

”Uhm, I think I should go home now, Sho might have some burns I need to patch up.”

The boy sat next to her stayed silent.

“Be careful Tou-nii.”

She started to walk off but she heard a quiet “I’m sorry.” She stopped walking away to hear what he had to say. “About your hands.”

”It’s okay.” She responded “I’ll be fine.” And walked back to the house, leaving her brother on Sekoto peak. Not know what would happen in the next hours.

If only she stayed a little longer

—————————————————————

By the time the story was over, dinner was made and they were quietly eating.

”Did that really happen the same day he… burned up? And the same day you helped with my burns?”

”Yea it did,” she held out her hands for him to see. “My hands still have the blue fingertips and small burn from when it happened.” Both todoroki’s ate in silence, The younger one examining his sister’s hands. The comforting silence was interrupted by their father coming back from work.

”Ah Shouto, I heard what happened at school. You should’ve done better to get your friend back. This is nothing like how I’ve taught you.” This ticked Fuyumi off a lot. But she didn’t dare say anything.

”And Fuyumi, thanks for making dinner. How about tomorrow you come to a work event with me.” She raised a brow questioningly at him. “It’s a party, for the top heroes and their guests. I thought it would be fun to go.”

She nodded her head and answered “yes I’ll go, sounds fun.”

”Okay then, tomorrow during the day maybe you can shop for a dress?”

She nodded and the rest of the time during dinner, all three todorokis ate in silence.

After dinner she cleaned up and went upstairs to get to bed, promising her brother to drop him off at the hospital again tomorrow.

She put on long sleeve pajamas to warm her up while sleeping, she slept pretty cold. She also threw on some gloves to help with her aching hands.

She took her glasses off and thought to herself while snuggling in bed.

Oh touya, the person you’ve become. Stay safe.’

Chapter Text

Fuyumi started her day at 5:30 in the morning, she didn’t have work today but she felt it was better to get up early than to sleep in. After all, she had a very fun event to go to today.

She started by taking her gloves off and made it to the bathroom to start the bath. Admittedly, she didn’t see herself in the mirror yesterday. She worked her way down her upper body gaping at the minor impurities. The red streaks in her hair were even longer, due to quirk use. Just like her brother, her hair changed when she used her quirk to much, except it was the opposite, instead of her hair turning red to white, it turned white to red. Nothing was really wrong with her eyes, yet she couldn’t really tell because she didn’t have her glasses on. Her nose was tinted slightly blue, same as her fingertips, and her teeth were in a constant chatter.

She pulled her gaze away from the mirror and turned in the faucet to the bath tub, turning it up to a high temperature to warm her shivering body up. She filled the bath with bubbles and a pink bath bomb. She also put on a face mask. Her skin often became dry because of the cool air her quirk created, when she got to stressed she would lose control of her quirk, ranging from either cool, dry air, or glaciers taller than the one her two-toned brother created.

Relaxing in the bath was amazing. No idiotic sibling constantly getting in trouble, whether that meant almost getting kidnapped, faking their own death, or upsetting their father. There was also no flaming beast yelling and training her brother. And finally, no students. She really did like her students, they made her happy and she loved them very much, but they were a handful. She constantly got into quirk accidents and some of her student parents were… creepy? Scary? Annoying? Either way, she was glad it was Saturday.

She soaked in the bath for what seemed like hours, and it probably was, before she got out. She still had to take her brother to visit his friends AND shop for a dress for some… hero event? She wasn’t really sure what it was. She dressed in one of her nicer tops, not exactly a stay at home t-shirt but also not one of her teacher blouses. It was a long sleeve blouse that was light blue with a flower design on it, the neckline was in the shape of a V and was fitted. She wore a lace tank top that was white underneath, also in an V shape and a black skirt down to her knees. She had white calf length socks on and brown loafers for shoes waiting for her at the door. Okay… maybe she did look like a teacher more than she liked but it was fine.

She also put on a navy blue sweater over top so she wouldn’t get too cold. It was a relatively hot day but with her quirk she got cold easily. She went back to the bathroom to apply some light make-up. She doesn’t use much but she did want to cover her light blue nose. She grabbed her glasses and headed downstairs.

She started to pack a lunch for herself and baby brother. Normally she didn’t do that but thought it would be nice since it was only around 8:00 now. So maybe she did soak in the bath a little too long but neither her brother or father came down yet so it was fine.

For both her brother and herself she packed cold soba with edamame and sesame seeds and tamago for her brother, for protein. On the side she packed 2 sticks of yakitori for herself and 4 for her brother. He needed to eat a lot since he was growing. After that she made herself and western style breakfast which had eggs, pancakes, and bacon served with orange juice, syrup, and powdered sugar.

She ate breakfast admiring the fluffiness of the pancakes and sat down to grade some of her students paperwork. It wasn’t anything hard, just a spelling test she had given her students. There was one in English and one in Japanese. All the words were of a difficulty higher than 3 grades above theirs but she didn’t have any doubts to her students. The only mistakes she saw was were when some kids used kanji to spell English words. Also “Camera” was often spelled “Camra” but she didn’t mind, it was a fifth grade word and they were only in kindergarten. Her students were actually doing really well, most kids can’t even read or write until first or second grade, and her kids were spelling fifth grade English words correctly. Maybe they earned a few free days the upcoming week.

She was moving methodically grading the papers, copying down the answers from her answer key, but she was interrupted by a loud “thud” from the training room.

Oh great my quiet morning’s ruined’ was her first thought. Her second was ‘who’s in the training room?’ And her third was, ‘Oh my god did someone break into the training room’

It was a weird thought for the daughter of a hero and sister of a hero in training but both her brother and father usually made noise getting up. And she was sitting in the room right near the stairs. She would have heard them come down stairs? They would’ve greeted her, right?

Fear crept its way up her spine, making her shiver. But she couldn’t help herself from going to check it out. I mean she is in a house full of heroes, she should be fine. She crept closer and closer to the training room, making her presence unknown to the possible villain in the training room. She opened the door ever so slowly, careful to not make any noise. She saw fire, and a lot of it. She closed the door quickly, if it was her father she didn’t want to get in trouble for bothering his training session. The door did open after she closed it though, in a much calmer way than her father could have. That made her relax a little, knowing it wasn’t her angry father and actually it was her younger brother.

She turned around to face him smiled softly. “Hi sho.”

The boy made no effort to talk and just nodded in acknowledgment.

”You know I made breakfast if you would like, western style!” Her smile got a little brighter at the mention of her delicious accomplishment.

”I know.” The scarred boy responded.

Her puzzled face must have been enough to go by for him to speak up again.

“When I came downstairs you were grading papers so I grabbed some breakfast and you didn’t seem to notice.” Wow she must be really out of it if she didn’t notice her brother walking downstairs, eating breakfast, AND training a few rooms over.

”Oh. Sorry Sho I guess I didn’t notice!”   -She smiled wide- “I guess I was too focused on the papers right!” The boy just nodded a few times before speaking up again.

”You said you could drop me off at the hospital again right?”

”Yes of course Sho! I also packed you a lunch if you wanted! You don’t have to eat if you don’t want, I did pack a decent amount so no shame in giving some to your friends! Why don’t you go get ready to leave and I’ll pack up, I have a few errands I need to run so perfect timing! Go ahead and get ready now.”

”Okay.” He took that as a chance to go get ready and Fuyumi packed up a bag for herself. Inside the bag she packed all her school papers, separated into three folders, answer sheets or teacher papers in yellow, graded work in green, and ungraded work in red. The yellow folder definitely had the most papers with green after it. She also packed her pencil case, her lunch, phone, keys, and her wallet. In perfect time, her brother came down with his belongings too, and they both left through the door and got into Fuyumi’s brand new red Honda civic. Not a fancy car but very new. The boy got into the passenger seat and the woman got into the drivers seat.

She started the car and got ready to leave but paused for a moment. “Uhm, I know this isn’t the best time to talk but I want to talk to you Sho.” When the boy made no action to talk and just kept looking at her patiently she continued. “So basically, in short, I’m worried about you.” -Shouto quirked a brow- “This hero school, it doesn’t seem very… well how do I put this, safe? Your teacher seems like a very good hero but, I’m concerned for his ability to actually teach kids. Question for you, uhm has he, uh, has he ever asked about your- uhm, your scar?” She asked, concern leaking into her voice.

The boy hadn’t changed his neutral face other than putting his eyebrow back down. As calm as ever he answered “No.”

“Well that’s the thing Sho, why hasn’t he asked? A good teacher would make sure a kids safe at home, and I think if I saw a kid with a scar in his eye and fluctuating bruises I would atleast ask. I mean yeah it’s a hero school and you bound to get hurt from training, but what about the other kids.” She looked even more worried now. “A kid got kidnapped, that blonde with the lightning bolt had scars ALL over him, and at the sports festival he was fried! That other kid always breaks all his bones, the Yaoyorozu girl obviously has no self confidence, I mean even without meeting her before at hero events it was obvious, but also, the other kids all have something going on that hasn’t been solved yet! I’m worried about that school Sho!”

Silence fell between them, save the soft whirring of the engine. The woman was on the verge of tears and the boy… just stared at her.

It felt like hours of silence had passed before it was broken by the two-toned boy.

”With great power, comes great responsibility.”

”Sho, did you just quote that movie from when quirks first started appearing?”

”Okay yes I get it, you’re responsible, but still I worry Sho!”

”I know, I’m sorry yumi. I’ll be safe at U.A, I promise.”

“Fine, but hold on, go back to the beginning quirk-era movie quote-“

”Spider-Man.”

”Yes Spider-Man, you’ve watched Spider-Man?”

”My friend has a quirk like his, he made me watch the movies with him during lunch or free period. I do enjoy watching them with him.”

”Glad you have nice friends Sho. Come on, let’s drive you to the hospital now.”

The rest of the car ride was mostly in silence, Fuyumi was just trying to rap her brain around the fact her brother quoted a movie, in the calmest face ever, right as she was about to cry. Well it did cheer her up so whatever.

She was humming a song on the radio while driving, adjusting the volume as needed.

”Fuyumi stop!” She basically slammed on her brakes, luckily they weren’t going that fast, they were in the city.

”Jeez Sho don’t scare me like that, what is it?” Her brother stayed quiet but pointed at someone walking on the street beside them.

”Hey isn’t that-“

—————————————————————

Bakugo was not happy, and it was all that damn burnt guys fault! Here he was, walking around the city, with a bowl in his hand and some yen. He was yet to find a pay phone.

”This sucks I bet stupid deku’s taking this as an opportunity to get stronger than me while I’m absent!” He muttered to himself, walking mindlessly up the streets. He heard a car screech to a stop behind him but he didn’t bother to turn, they were just some extras he didn’t care about.

”Hey you! Blonde kid with the black shirt on! Turn around.” Some female voice ordered. Who was she to tell him what to do! Probably some loser who recognized him from the sports festival. He turned around to meet her icy glaze.

”Hah! The fuck you want from me you hag!”

”Bakugo. Please refrain from calling my sister a hag, she could probably freeze your face off.”

“Hah! No she couldn’t! I’m much better than some extras sister!”

”Come on boys settle down, but thank you Shouto for defending me. Did you escape from them or did they let you go? Do you need a ride? We’re heading to class 1-A right now so we could pick you up?”

Of course he has to ride in a car with half-an-half. Whatever, better than the shitty nerd.

“Tch, whatever. Drive me.”

”Hop in! You should really get better manners though, do you teachers teach you good manners?”

”Of course not! What type of school would teach manners to upcoming heroes!”

“That’s what I thought,” she mumbled.

”Hah? Speak up I can’t hear you hag!”

”Bakugo-“

”Oh sorry it’s nothing! I just mumble to myself a lot!”

”You sound like another nerd I know! Are you talking down on me? I have great manners hag!”

”Bakugo-“

”It’s fine Sho, I don’t mind. Y’know we’ve both been through worse than some name calling,” she said flashing a smile.

The boy shut up after that, didn’t really want to be apart of family trauma. The todoroki woman also was a little scary. The explosive boy was basically tied down to his seat by the glare he was given by the half-n-half teenager.

—————————————————————

Fuyumi just wondered how she had a really annoying previously kidnapped teen in her car. Any more of his bitchy comments and she would’ve lashed out. Atleast he was quiet now-

”Oi! What are you staring at you IcyHot bastard!”

Spoke too soon

”Enough of that, you’re both teenagers, be nice. Bakugo was it?” The teen nodded sharply, barely a nod, more of a jerk of the head. “Well Bakugo, shut your mouth or I’ll freeze it. I’m done hearing your bad attitude and name calling. We’re almost there so both of you be quiet.” She tried to sound nice but it didn’t really work.

”Tch, sorry or whatever.”

”Thank you.”

The ride was silent for the rest of the way there.

”All right, we’re here! I’ll walk in with you two. Also before I forget,” she said digging through her brown bag. “Here you go Sho! Your lunch!”

The teen accepted the boxed lunch and all three opened the doors to the car, the driver bringing the keys with her after locking it.

The three walked inside, the blonde boy leading in an angry pace. When they walked in the homeless looking hero immediately approached them.

“How’d you get out of this one brat.” Was the first thing he said, which immediately got a ‘What-the-fuck’ reaction from Fuyumi. The kid was a brat but come on, that’s the first thing you say! He didn’t even look too worried.

”Tch, some purple scarred dude convince shigaraki to let me go. Left me on the street with a bowl of noodles, some yen, and litterally no sense of direction. The bastard put a blindfold on me so I couldn’t tell where the villain base was! On top of that, he kept spinning me every minute to make sure I couldn’t keep track of the movements!”

typical touya’

“I’m sure we walked in circles before he actually unblindfolded me. Heck! I bet we were right next to the base! Damn bastard, next time I see him I’m gonna-“

”That enough Bakugo, glad you’re safe. Now go talk to your classmates. I’m sure they were making a plan to rescue you or something, they’d probably end up killing themselves so go tell them not to do them.”

”I’ll tell them whatever the hell I want! Dont tell me what to do!” The teen responded very quickly, but seemed to do right what the man said immediately.

”Mrs. Todoroki, thank you for finding him and bringing him to the hospital. It was very responsible of you.” He said bowing his head slightly.

“Oh it was no problem! I’m sure anyone else who knew of the situation would do the same thing!” She waved her hands infront of her to get him to stop bowing, luckily it worked. She still didn’t like the guy but she didn’t deserve a bow for that.

”I must go now, I should probably tell everyone the news of Bakugo returning,” he said it while he was already leaving. Didn’t really leave much room for Fuyumi to respond but she didn’t care.

”Why don’t I meet some of your classmates Sho!”

The boy led her away to where his classmates were and stood there awkwardly.

This boy really needs some social lessons’

Luckily his classmates approached him first.

“Hey man! Glad to see you back after yesterday’s… icy turn of event!” They black haired boys glanced over at her, no doubt talking about her outbreak. Her face flushed red with embarrassment. She should probably apologize.

”Ah sorry that was me! I’m Shouto’s sister! Fuyumi.”

”Oh hey! He talks about you a lot! My names Sero, but Hanta’s my first name if you want to use it. You don’t need to but just figured since you have me yours it was only right.” The boy- no Sero- Hanta rubbed at the back of his neck as some sort of nervous tick, but it’s alright everyone has one. He also seemed like a nice boy.

Sho talks about me? Nevermind that’

”Hey you’re the guy who fought Sho in the sports festival! Are you also the one who makes him watch Spider-Man? Y’know he actually quoted the movie today! It caught me off guard but it was really funny.”

”Oh yea I am! We watch them during lunch since Roki’s a loner- no offense Roki!”

”Non-taken.”

Fuyumi couldn’t help but laugh at that, it’s even funnier that she could imagine it in her head. Her baby brother sitting at a table by himself, then another boy sitting right next to him watching Spider-Man! Both probably hunched over the phone.

”Ahah! Sorry it’s just funny how I could imagine that happening! I’ll leave you too to talk while I talk to some of Sho’s other classmates!”

She walked away and spotted a disoriented Yaoyorozu standing off to the side.

”Miss Fuyumi!”

”Hey Yaoyorozu! Stopped by to drop Sho off, saw you standing over here, how’s it going? I haven’t seen you in like, 3 years!”

”Ah yes, I apologize. I haven’t gone to any hero events with my parents the last few years, I was training my quirk and studying. Also you can just call me Momo, no need for formals! Isn’t there another event tonight? I won’t be going but I know my parents will be there.”

”Don’t apologize Yaoyor- Momo, I’m just glad to see you again! Maybe I’ll see you at a hero event in the future! And yes I am going to one tonight.” She glanced down at her watch, “I last be going now, have to run a few errands, hope your head feels better soon!” With that she left, stopping by her brother to say a quick goodbye then left.

—————————————————————

“Yaoyorozu, you requested to see me?”

”Aizawa-San! Yes I needed to talk to you… I didn’t tell you earlier because I was still dizzy but during the attack in the training camp. I asked a student from class 1-B to place a tracker on the nomu using his quirk, the device tracking the nomu is right here. Sorry for not being more help during the attack, this was the best thing I could think-“ she was cut off but her teacher raising his hand up to stop her.

”Yaoyorozu, this was a great decision and gave us our first lead on the league of villains. Don't doubt yourself, you’re a smart and intelligent student who will grow up to become a great hero. Thank you for this. Take a rest, your heads still recovering.” He walked out of the room with device in hand, leaving Momo to her thoughts.

She rested for a while and even took a nap, but she found herself watching the news. Using the tracking device she made, they were able to find the villain base. It actually wasn’t the main base but the base of the infamous villain, All for One. The fight was brutal, the symbol of peace had fallen, revealing a scrawny man. All mights true form. Everyone was heartbroken but he did save everyone. The villain had died while in custody, but it wasn’t a big enough victory for everyone to be happy about the whole situation. There wasn’t much reports about the battle yet, she assumed they would interview U.A because they were the ones who led the raid. But she didn’t know. She just hoped her old babysitter and hero event friend was having fun at whatever the recent event was about. Even if her flaming father left early to be apart of the battle against All for One. Maybe she made a new friend or two there. Who knows, maybe she’ll ask todoroki for her number so she could ask. That would be weird though since she doesn’t think Todoroki knows his sister and her are friends. But know she felt a little better knowing her device was used and she made the right decision. She hopes her friends are okay after hearing the news. Especially midoriya, but he was still asleep.

Notes:

Sorry for the not detailed AFO fight! Also make it clear the league wasn’t there, only AFO. Also it wasn’t really an important fight since bakugo wasn’t there. +reminder AFO died (aww poor villains have no father now) Next chap we’ll see more of Fuyumi making new friends and maybe a little league action! Officially got over 100 hits too which isn’t a lot but it’s a first!
