Chapter Text
One Year Later
“I’m going to shit myself.”
Harry looks at Draco, eyebrows raised. “No, you won’t.”
“I fear you’re gravely mistaken,” Draco says, sighing as he grabs the bottle of wine and bouquet of yellow tulips from the kitchen counter. “What if I shit myself in the middle of dinner?”
Harry laughs, pulling Draco into his arms. “You’re going to be fine, love. Andy and Teddy are so excited to meet you. This has been a long time coming, yeah? It’ll be great.”
Draco wrinkles his nose. “How do you even talk to a toddler?”
“Ask him questions, talk about his toys, listen to him ramble…There are lots of options.” Harry tucks a stray piece of hair behind Draco’s ear before placing a kiss on the tip of his nose. Draco’s face warms, and he ducks his head.
“I don’t know if I can do this.”
“Hey.” Harry cups his cheeks, lifting his head so they’re looking at each other. “You’re not alone. I’ll be right there, and so will Edie and Niamh. We can leave if it gets too overwhelming. You’re an incredible person, Draco. I promise they’ll love you just as much as I do.”
“Really?”
“Really,” Harry says. “Now, come on. We’re going to be late.”
Draco sighs, nodding. “Alright. Take me there, then.”
Together, they walk hand-in-hand to the Floo in Harry’s flat. Draco grips Harry’s hand as though it’s his lifeline, knowing everything might be different by the time they return. Still, he reminds himself he can do anything with Harry by his side.
With one last glance at each other, Harry walks into the fireplace. Once he disappears in a burst of green flames, Draco takes his place. Throwing Floo powder down, he closes his eyes and waits until the flames die down before opening them again. Stepping into an unfamiliar living room, he’s met with a blue-haired boy staring back at him.
Just as one chapter ends, another begins.
