Lilith,
This will be my final letter to you before you head off to the Rider’s Quadrant on Naliday. I take comfort in the fact that you’ve decided to follow in your siblings’ footsteps; the last thing we need is a mind as cunning as yours to be wasted in something like the Scribes. Make no mistake, scribes are indeed one of our most valuable assets in maintaining the truth of this world. The pen is mightier than the sword, but it will not save you from an invading gryphon.
When the time for war arrives, you must be ready at a moment’s notice. Hesitation will not be permitted in the Quadrant for that is a sign of weakness. Only the strong are able to survive in this world; only those who lack doubt and trepidation are able to climb the backs of dragons. To be strong, you must kill. To kill, you must put aside worldly matters and emotions for the sake of our homeland.
I have no doubt that you will succeed in your endeavor. You were born for the skies, much like your father and his before him. After all, dragon riding is in our blood as much as it is in our name. You are a Sorrengail; you will not fall.
