Chapter Text

The sun could barely been seen through the tray clouds covering the sky, the pathway in the shadows of the old oak trees that surrounded the edges of the road. Numa often walked through them on his walk to school, but not today.

Despite what he said to his mother, he was actually running late to school. Numa's legs started to quicken up his walking speed, stepping on the leaves and stones that rested on the path.

On days like these, were the air was warm, not overly warm. Warm like the early days of spring before the summer heatwave arrived. Numa's mind wondered over his new life.

How different it is to the past one he lived, Ireland's summer was never as warm as the one in Uruguay, the cultures, his friends and family. But mostly about him self, the similarities that stuck him in his heart.

Latin American blood still ran in him, but no longer was it Uruguayan, instead it was Chilean. Irish blood also ran through his veins now, his tanned skin was one of very few in the small village he now called his home.

The school gate lay open in front of Numa, his classmates waiting around it. Some waiting on friends, others just wanted to look cool by being there.

"Numa!" The voice of Julia, a classmate who greeted him every morning with her bubbly personality , yelled as she saw him in the crowd of students. "You worried for the Spanish test?.... Wait, of course, you're not."

" Santa María! Julia. Of course, I'm not worried. " Numa rolled his eyes, as he spoke when Julia was at his side. The mindless chatter flowed between them, as they walked into school and their classes.

------------------------------------------------------------------

The silence on the walk back home was welcomed, Julia spent every second and could to practice her Spanish on Numa. The test was a breeze... well it was only easy for Numa. His mother ( and past life) only speaking to him in Spanish as a kid made him fluent in it.

The school day was overly boring, nothing happens in the middle of nowhere in ireland. The clouds had passed, allowing the sun to warm up the day, at least.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"Mum, I'm home!" Numa said, as he opened the front door. The sound of his mother watching another medical show could be heard in the living room.

" Alright, Cariño. ¿Pasa algo interesante? " Numa's mother questioned, her eye glancing to her, then back to the TV screen.

"Nada, Mama." Numa answered, taking his shoes off at the bottom of the stairs, not wanting to get the stairs dirty, before going up into his bedroom.

Numa flung his bag onto his bedroom's floor, seeing his dog, Champ, sleeping on his bed. The mattress file, alerting Champ of Numa sitting down next to him on the bed. Champ's tail waggle, as he wakes up, his big brown eyes staring up at Numa.

"Dia duit, Champ. Who's the best boy in the world?" Numa switchs out of Gaelic and into English, as he pets champ's brown fur.

------------------------------------------------------------

The day starts the same, Numa's mother waking him up, the same weather as he walks to school. Julia greeting him at the school's gate, the teachers ranting over and over about the same old boring stuff. That is until lunch.

"No, reincarnation is real, I swear!" Julia whines , she reaches into her her blazer's pocket, pulling out her phone. "Look!" She yells , holding up a news article about reincarnation.

"That's obviously fake, jewels. You can't trust anything on the internet." Numa rubs the back of his neck, trying his hardest to appear normal and totally not nervous. "Also put your phone away, a teacher could see it."

Julia lets out an annoyed sigh at Numa's words, but still quickly smashes her phone back into her pocket, checking to make sure no teachers saw her use it.

"But come on, imagine having a last life. It would be so, so, cool to have one." Julia's eyes light up at the idea, her voice getting high and higher pitched as she talks.

"Don't have to imagine." Numa mutters under his breath, the bell ringing right after him whispering. " See you tomorrow, Julia. " Numa says, grabbing his bag and leaving.

He knows that Julia will try to continue this conversation as soon as she can, but luckily for Numa (unlucky for Julia) he doesn't have anymore classes with her today.
