Work Header

Honey, I’m coming home.

Summary:

After the mission, Jeremiah found an escape pod.

Notes:

Is it a bird?
Is it a plane?
No, IT’S JEREMIAH!

Work Text:

Jeremiah got into the escape pod, that has a shape similar to an atom bomb but what mattered is that the inside is big enough for him.

He shut the lid above him, and noticed the faint glow of a simple control panel. In the middle of it all is a button with the word ‘LAUNCH’…it speaks for itself.

He buckled up the seatbelts, made sure they were secure, and pressed the button.

And with that he was catapulted into the sky.

* Setting course for the Six Pint Inn *

The Six Pint is in sight.

But…where will he land?

His question is answered by the escape pod crashing through the roof, busting through the wooden floors and into the basement.

Yet somehow Jeremiah stayed in one piece. He carefully got out of it, and sprinted to the elevator.

When he got to the ground floor, the patrons were clearly startled at the accident that caused a pair of big holes through the floor and the ceiling. Even the First-Person-Perspective actually looked frightened, their body noticeably shuddering.

“JEREMIAH- FOR MIR’S SAKE…” Chandrelle shouted at him when she noticed him, breathing heavily. “…DON’T EVER DO THAT AGAIN.”

“Er- What is this ‘bout?” Rust thought out loud, staring into the pit, ignoring the two on the other side of the room.

“Jeremiah returned, rather drastically.” Bryce answered to Rust, but he seemingly wasn’t listening to him.

So he turned his attention to the untextured fellow. They were fidgeting with their hands as Jeremiah and Chandrelle were conversing.

“You okay bud?”

They shook their head.

“Don’t worry, it was just an accident, everything’s fine now. No one got hurt or anything…” he patted their shoulder.

‘What about the floorboards?’ They signed.

“I’m sure that the barkeep has some spare ones, we’ll patch those holes up.”

They gave a thumbs up.

“Where’s Reggie?” Jeremiah said after sharing some details about how the mission went to Chandrelle.

“He told us that he’ll go to his personal cabin.” She answered.

Reggie was staring at the powered off computer in his cabin. He could barely see the reflection of his face on the monitor screen.

He was lost in his thoughts. But this was one of those times that he wasn’t thinking about brutally murdering Irving and Lionel. He was thinking about Jeremiah.

He was worried sick, all the possible outcomes of this mission was flooding his mind. He could have been caught- even killed- the imaginary vision of Jeremiah dying made Reggie squirm in his wheelchair.

But his worries were shunned when Jeremiah himself entered the cabin.

If he wasn’t bound to a wheelchair, he would run to hug him, pick him up and spin around in glee.

Alternatively, he rolled his wheelchair forward with both of his hands, when he was close enough he extended his arms and Jeremiah followed suit by jumping into his lap, wrapping their hands around each other.

Reggie’s eyes watered as he softly laughed out of relief, caressing Jeremiah’s head on his shoulder.

“Mission successful.” Jeremiah informed with a grin.

“…I’m more glad that you’re alive…”

They stayed in their tender embrace for a while, but it felt like a lifetime for them.
