Chapter Text
He doesn’t actually get time to talk to Jungkook until Jin sends him off to check out the wedding venue with the younger.
The venue looks amazing and Jimin feels as if he’s intruding on a private affair just by stepping inside.
The woman in charge is nice and friendly, all smiles and soft words. It makes Jimin feel a little more at ease.
“I always feel like I have to be honest in places like this.” Jimin says quietly when the woman leaves them alone to walk around.
“Well it’s a place for people to get married and all.” Jungkook shrugs. “People pledge their eternal love here.”
“I always feel like every bad thing I’ve ever done will be exposed.” Jimin says as he fiddles with the lace decorations draped over the chairs.
“Like you’ve ever done anything truly bad.” Jungkook snorts. “The worst thing you’ve probably done is to eat a piece of candy when mama Park wouldn’t let you.”
“Excuse you.”
“Fine, then tell me what something bad you’ve done recently.”
He lets Jungkook’s challenge linger between them for a little while before he answers.
“I wanted Yoongi to feel bad for replacing my spot with Hoseok.” Jimin admits quietly, refusing to look at Jungkook. “It felt like he just forgot about me the minute Hoseok hyung came back and I just felt so petty, so mean in that moment, I couldn’t stop it.”
“Hyung doesn’t hold it against you, you know that right?” Jungkook sounds so sincere, Jimin wants to believe him so badly.
When he remains silent, Jungkook wraps a hand around his wrist.
“Minnie, look at me.”
He keeps his back turned resolutely to Jungkook.
There’s a soft sigh from Jungkook before the younger moves to stand in front of him, cupping a large hand on his face to make Jimin look him in the eye.
“Baby, listen.” Jungkook smoothes a thumb over his cheekbone. “Maybe that wasn’t your best move, but hyung has long forgotten about it, you know he doesn’t hold grudges. He’s probably the one who has more things to be sorry about.”
“But it doesn’t make it right.” Jimin finds his hands gravitating to Jungkook’s waist. “It doesn’t.”
“It doesn’t make you a bad person.” Jungkook says.
“It does.” Jimin insists. “Yoongi, he’s done so much for me when I needed it and I just—”
“I’m not going to allow you to say anything about the man I’ve been in love with forever.”
Jimin can only gasp at Jungkook’s seemingly casual words.
“Yeah.” Jungkook bumps his forehead against his. “You aren’t hearing things, I love you. I always have and I always will.”
“I…” Jimin hates that he doesn’t know how to respond even if his heart knows the answer to those three words all too well. “Jungkook-ah, I…”
“I don't need you to say it back, I just want you to know that I can wait forever until you feel the same way.” Jungkook’s words sounds like forever promises and Jimin knows with every part of him that Jungkook would do everything in his abilities not to break them. “So don’t feel like you have to answer me right now or—”
“I love you too, Kook-ah.” The words sound so right, he can’t help but repeat them over and over again until Jungkook crushes him against his chest.
Later Jungkook tells him that those weren't tears in his eyes, after all men like him don't cry.
The satisfied smirk nestled on Taehyung's face tells them everything as he walks by with Jungkook’s hand gripped in his own.
Jimin hides his red face in the crook of Jungkook's neck. "I told you not to do this."
The chuckle reverberating from the younger man’s chest shows he doesn't feel the same way. “We're just holding hands, it's normal for a couple ."
He knows his face has become as red as a tomato. "We're in the library, everyone can see."
As if to prove his point, Chanyeol stops in front of them. "Finally! I thought you two would never get together."
The older pats Jungkook on the back before giving him a smile and walking away.
The smirk Jungkook levels at him makes his already flaming cheeks even more prominent.
"I hate you." He smacks Jungkook’s chest and power walks out of the library before anyone else could witness his embarrassment.
He ignores Jungkook’s amused yells and half runs to his dorm. It’s only when he’s he's safely behind the closed doors of his dorms, does he turn to his boyfriend.
"You love me." Jungkook’s lips are lifted into a mischievous grin.
“Nope.” Jimin pretends to ignore him, but the younger man doesn't let up and grabs his wrist.
With a smooth jerk of Jungkook’s arm, he twirls right into the younger man’s chest. In that short moment, the atmosphere changes into one almost emitting sparks of electricity. “That’s too bad because I love you.”
He leaves a soft peck on Jungkook’s cheek before he says those words that always seem so easy to say whenever it comes to Jungkook.
“I love you, Jungkook-ah.”
It’s a few years later, when Taehyung and Hoseok finally, finally get together. Everyone is relieved because it means they can stop suffering through the sexual tension Hoseok and Taehyung put them through everyday.
Namjoon and Jin are happily married with their daughter, Hana.
Yoongi becomes a music producer and an underground rapper whenever he has time. Jimin’s happy his friend has become so successful.
As for Jungkook and Jimin, they haven’t gotten anywhere.
They’re still dating and everyday with Jungkook feels like a little slice of heaven on Earth but he wants more.
Jimin wants happily ever after but Jungkook doesn’t get it. The younger just comments on the angle of the photos when he leaves wedding magazines on the dinner table or just smiles whenever he whines about all the appearances he has to make because all his friends from high school seem to be getting married at the same time.
Jungkook takes him out when he pouts, complaining about the fifth wedding he has to go to just that month.
When Jimin spots the photo booth, Jungkook surprises him by agreeing easily, it usually took him hours of probing and cajoling to get the younger man to take photos with him.
He often wondered why, Jungkook was sculpted like a greek god, had looks many men would die to have and often came out quite photogenic in photos, yet refused to be in front of the camera, always preferring to be the one behind the lens.
He shrugs it away as he pulls Jungkook into the photo booth behind him.
With Jungkook’s frame, he easily pulls Jimin on his lap so he's nestled to Jungkook’s left.
Jungkook nudges him and he presses the start button, wriggling happily as he waits for the countdown.
Jimin watches his boyfriend from the reflection in the monitor. He just gives him a smile.
First photo: they both smile at the camera.
Second photo: he closes his eyes to kiss Jungkook’s cheek.
Third photo: Jungkook opens the small velvet box in front of him.
Fourth photo: Jimin has his hands in front of his mouth, a classical shocked expression on his face as he stares at the ring in Jungkook’s hand.
The shriek and the resounding 'yes' echoes across the mall.
It's a year later when they finally say their I do's in front of their friends and family.
Of course, Taehyung is waiting to say ‘I told you so’ when they head towards the airport for their honeymoon.
“You thought I was going to leave you if things didn’t work out?” Jungkook asks him incredulously.
“I… I just—” Jimin splutters. “I love you, Kookie.”
Jungkook snorts. “Your attempts to look cute don’t work anymore, Minie.”
“But Kookie-ah.” Jimin even digs out the nickname and swings their entwined hands, whining the entire time. “Now is all that matters, you know how excited I am to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Jungkook huffs. “You’re so spoiled, always getting what you want.”
“I love you, Mr. Park.” Jimin smiles up at his husband.
“I love you, my Park Jiminie.”
They head towards the car, their hands entwined, rings sparkling in the sunlight.
Jimin had his forever, his happy ending. It was all that mattered.
