It was not long after that, as he approached the outer walls, that he heard it. Echoing faintly through the near empty courtyard and into the fields beyond the keep, a mournful voice drifted through the air.
“Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen,
yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron!
Yéni ve lintë yuldar avánier
mi oromardi lisse-miruvóreva
Andúnë pella, Vardo tellumar

The years have passed like swift draughts

beneath the blue vaults of Varda
wherein the stars tremble in the song of her voice, holy and queenly.)It was unmistakable, though he had heard it so rarely. Indeed, one of the few times he had heard it was when it had been raised in the Goldenwood forest in a keening, haunting lament for Gandalf. When Legolas did sing, it was often in joy or wonder, not so this time. No, since they had begun this quest, laments and dirges had figured more and more into his songs.

Summary
Just a little dabble that I wrote where I reworked the first scene with the palantir. Nothing crazy, nothing big and really just written to give myself a break from working on some of my other stories and homework. I really just love Aragorn and Legolas' friendship, honestly. This work is a stand alone and I might make a few more in this style if I can come up with some fun ideas. Hope you enjoy!

An episode of House MD that I wrote because I couldn't sleep. I'm a huge fan of the friendship between House and Wilson and love the show so it's a win-win right? It's not the best and I think I went a little overboard on the sarcastic House comments but I had fun with it. Feel free to comment as long as you stay kind.
