There is a pop behind him.
“Master Draco,” Dilly squeaks behind him. “There is a visitor.”
Draco hums, and slowly turns in his chair to look down on the wide-eyed elf. She clasps her hands in front of her and rocks on her heels, her little yellow sundress ruffling around her knees.
“Mistress Narcissa requests you be coming to the sitting room,” she continues. Draco nods, and turns back to the sun. There was a pop behind him, and he was alone.
They weren’t expecting anyone, and there was only one sort of person that visited Malfoy Manor these days. Draco sighs again, then rises from the chair, his knees protesting from being stagnant so long. He walks to the glass door and looks once more over his shoulder at the sun, before pulling it open and stepping inside.
His tea is forgotten on the table, long cooled.

When Marlene had first invited James along to pick up her new girlfriend from her dance studio, he had been slightly curious but mostly more interested in the nachos they were going to get afterwards. But one thing had led to another, and then he was watching Marlene’s girlfriend dance something called a jive with the most gorgeous man he had ever seen, moving so quickly and fluidly that James had, for the first time in his life, had to seriously consider needing to leave a room for fear of embarrassing himself.
So, James being James, he had immediately needed to speak to the man, who had introduced himself as Regulus. And, because James really had no self-control, he had then proceeded to call the man beautiful, asking him on a date, and then giving him his number despite his repeated refusals. Not his finest moment, and James had genuinely contented himself to never stepping foot back in Marlene’s girlfriend’s place of work ever again and possibly also moving to China, but then the unthinkable had happened. Regulus had texted him.

“Straight to business, how boring,” Chat pouted, his tail swishing behind him. He leaned on his baton, all lean muscle and black leather. His blonde hair ruffled itself in the wind. “Don’t you want to spend a few meow-ments with moi?”

There’s the sound of something hitting the floor from behind him, followed by what might be plastic bouncing off the shiny hospital tiles. The person at the desk looks up in surprise, over Buck’s shoulder, and he turns to look too.
Eddie’s standing there, Styrofoam cup rolling at his feet, coffee splattered all down the bottom of his faded blue jeans. The plastic lid of the cup skitters over the tile before coming to a stop a few feet away. He looks like someone punched him in the gut, absolutely shellshocked, something Buck can’t quite read behind the startled expression on his face.

It’s not like Buck needs anyone to tell him what his issues are. They might as well be written on his forehead in bright red marker. He’s not ignoring it or anything; Buck just doesn’t see the point in re-litigating them every time he feels like this, every time he feels like a dog that got sent back to the pound. It’s not like he doesn’t have his friends and family, and Tommy is sleeping right next to him, but there’s a hole in Buck’s chest he’s had since he was born and he still doesn’t know how to fill it.
When the 118 is closed for reconstruction after an earthquake, Buck is a floater for different stations around the city. He tries not to let it get to him. Much.
