    Jaskier should have been in his element.

    He was performing in front of dozens of nobles (albeit mostly minor ones) at an intimate but lavish party in Verden. Food and wine flowed amongst the tables, he was the centre of attention on his little stage with his accompaniment, and the soft golden lighting filling the hall complemented his skin very nicely. He knew that once his set was finished, he’d be able to mingle and flirt and gossip the night away as much as he liked without worrying about Geralt brooding on the edge of his periphery.

    Yet, as much as he revelled in the effect his music - as well as the occasional batting of his eyelashes - had on the nobles surrounding him, today felt different. All he wanted was to finish his set, smuggle some food back to the inn where Geralt was waiting for him, and spend a peaceful night with his friend preparing to hit the road in the morning.

    It sounded so simple. He should have known that it wouldn’t be.

    Or: Jaskier wakes up in a strange place after a strange night, and doesn't know how to deal with it.

    Summary

    Humans don’t believe in monsters, and those that do are written off as foolish or insane. It’s better that way for Geralt and the handful of witchers that are left. If a thousand years walking the Continent has taught him anything it's that humans are nothing but excitable, scared animals. If they knew what was waiting in the woods, what was lurking in the dark, they would never stray from their artificially well-lit spaces again.

    OR Geralt is on the hunt for a monster that has claimed the lives of nearly fifty Redanians in the past two years, but he's always one step behind. That is, until he finds a young man that was attacked by the creature - the first human to come face to face with the beast and live. If he can save the kid and find out what he knows then maybe he can put an end to this thing before any one else dies. It's never quite that simple though, is it?
