"I'm trying to hold on to my feelings for you but it's becoming increasingly impossible with the way you're looking at me, like I'm the most important person in the room," Will choked down the lumps in his throat, tossing out his feelings out in the open as if he ripped off a bandaid in one pull.
Silence draped over them like a blanket, the hot, heavy air becoming too thick to breathe, and Will swore he could cut the tension with a knife. Seconds turned into minutes, but Will didn't have the time.
Swiveling on the heels of his feet, Will sought out the exit but there it was, the whisper that flooded through his ears that caused him to pause.
"But you are, Will, you are to me."

I couldn't help but gawk at him. She was completely right. He was amazing. Probably the best one in the band overall. I could feel my face start to heat up as I stared at him for what felt like forever.

I felt my eyes widen as a surge of anger rose through me. "Excuse me, WHAT?! W-well I wouldn't want to play some stupid... funky looking reed...Dumb looking thing anyway! So jokes on you..."
Mike's eyebrow raised even higher before his mouth turned into a fine line. "What did you just say...?" he started to stand up and walk towards me. "I'll have you know..." He started to poke at my chest lightly between each word. "TONE DEAF people aren't able to appreciate the nuances of this crucial instrument, anyways."
