Summary
It had devastated him, seeing Oboro crumple to the ground under rubble like something cheap, something weak, something dispensable. Listening to Hizashi's empty scream at the sight of it, to Nemuri's distant sobs, had been more than enough to hollow him out completely. But it served a second purpose in the end: to help him start fresh. To numb him enough that he was able to find that fire again, to fan it, to focus on making up for all the things he'd missed occupationally while he was spending time fostering friendships.
And if he was alone because of it? Well.
Was it loneliness or freedom? Was it heartbreaking or fortifying? Was it the end of the world, or was it the beginning of a new drive, a new life, a new justification?
Did it matter?

Summary
Shouta is fine, installing porch furniture for a while by himself.
That is, until he hears the ugly twang of untuned guitar strings echoing from a few houses down.
It shouldn't have caught his ear. It's loud, sure; but it isn't any of his business. He's content to ignore it, even if his eye had twitched a little at the sharp clacking of a pick against a cheap guitar body.
The thing that has him seeking out the sound, though, is that the melody (or distinct lack thereof) sounded familiar somehow.

Summary
Vacations, Hizashi muses to himself as his eyes flick around the busy airport, are ultimately a waste of time. And more than that, vacations where the time is filled with obligations instead of exploration? With responsibilities instead of nonsense? With stasis instead of shenanigans? Downright sinful!
Did he technically have a choice on whether or not he was going to accept the invitation he'd been extended to Shouta’s sister’s wedding? Yes. Did that mean he wanted to spend a week and a half stuck to Shouta’s side, translating everything for him in a foreign country with no other responsibilities to distract himself with?
… Also yes, as a matter of fact, but that was beside the point.

“It is,” Hizashi confirms. He remembers. Frank Sinatra, 'The Way You Look Tonight'. Ironically, Shouta had looked terrible that night, completely bandaged and recently beaten to within an inch of his life. But maybe that was the point.
