All it means for him is lying on the ground to eat more dirt. Ethan thinks that he’s eaten enough dirt to make a mud sandwich after all of this time.
“You’re being generous,” he retorts back. Then the remaining words die in his throat when he finds himself staring at Luke again.
August is that time of the month where it’s always been blazing hot with the sun that feels like it’s going to cook everyone alive but under the sun, Luke’s hair turns white like a halo. And Ethan thinks that he'd follow him anywhere. All Luke would have to do would be to ask.
“I’m being honest,” Luke replies easily without any heat.
