Summary
Jungwon Yang is one of the Chosen, a cleric tasked with the mission of performing a sacred rite, thousands of years old. The problem? He never wanted to do it in the first place.
Now, as he embarks on the quest of a lifetime, he finds himself faced with two obstacles. The first is getting his patron goddess to actually talk to him. Jay grins, widely, like Jungwon is the most interesting person he’s talked to all day. “You really hate me, huh?”
Jungwon’s skin itches under his gaze, crawling with heat. “Competition isn’t personal,” he replies. “It’s the natural order of things.”
“Huh.” Jay laughs a little at this. Draining the last of his mug, he leans over to press their shoulders together. “Guess I’ll try to beat you too, then.”
“It’s on.”

His hair is the crowning jewel—near perfect locks of tawny brown, obscuring a fragment of his profile. He’s got an arm propped on the hilt of his sword, muttering the words inaudibly to himself as he reads.
A girl rounds the corner, walking past them without so much as sparing a glance. Sunghoon wants to chase after her. Grab her by the shoulders and shake her. That guy has a sword! Can’t you see it? Please tell me you can see it.

“Uh. Well, we can’t let you ride alone.” Heeseung scratches the back of his neck. “So, you can either find someone else to go with you, or you can’t ride.”
Riki’s brow furrows, eyes darting to Sunghoon, who nods in solidarity. “Yeah… What he said.”
“Seriously? Why?”
“It’s a weight distribution… thing.” Sunghoon waves his hand. “I don’t know. They just won’t let us.”
“It’s stupid,” Heeseung says. “Sorry, dude. We’d send you down if we could, but—”
Riki juts a thumb in Sunghoon’s direction. “Can’t pretty boy just come with me?”
( AKA: Sunghoon works as a lifeguard at EN- Resort, the biggest waterpark in South Korea, and Riki knows just how to bend the rules. )

Fuma bursts into laughter. “What, are you going to get him one from the mall?”
“Well, there clearly aren’t any in this apartment,” Kei retorts.
“Wait, wait,” Taki says, waving his hands around. Man, he really should have thought twice before speaking— unfortunately, his brain-to-mouth filter has never worked very well. “I don’t mean right at this moment!”
[Taki attempts to find a boyfriend. He finds out that he's in love with Yuma instead.]

“Hey,” he says to Sunoo, very casually. “If you wanted someone to go out with you, but they were obsessed with famous people and wouldn’t give you the time of day, what would you do?”
Sunoo doesn’t miss a beat. “Give up,” he says. “Or lie, if they were really hot.”
Then he stops. He turns to look at Riki slowly, like he’s on Friends or something, and the look isn’t exactly kind. “This isn’t about Jake’s weird problem with Sunghoon, is it?” he asks suspiciously.
Riki smiles innocently. “Of course not,” he says. “Why would you think that?”
