Summary
Sunset Shimmer thought she was free and clear for the next 30 moons. She'd timed her trip through the portal so she'd transit at night, and it turned out (or so she thought) to work perfectly! Nobody saw her come through, which meant she was able to start learning how to pretend to be one of these creatures called 'humans.' She learned she resembled an adult woman, though perhaps on the young side (people were surprised when she told them she'd graduated university already, which told her even in this new world she was already something of a savant), found an abandoned motel in good condition that she'd social engineered her way into squatting, got a job at a coffee shop to pay for her lifestyle, and settled in to wait.
She was pleasantly surprised to discover that humans weren't, after all, the only intelligent creatures on this side of the portal, there were a whole catalog of peoples known colloquially as 'monsters' that had just announced their presence and had started the Interspecies Exchange Act, administered by the Interspecies Cultural Exchange agency. While interesting, she didn't think anything of it...
...until an agent knocks on her door to introduce Sunset's new roommate, a lamia named Rarity. -

Summary
Sunset Shimmer has the misfortune to stumble onto a human world that mirrors her home to an uncanny degree, save for one thing; it exists in The Omegaverse. These humans developed traits commonly associated with wolves. Alphas become the leaders and find mates with Omegas, Betas are the majority of the population.
When Sunset Shimmer transited to this world, she did so via a magical portal that "rewrote" her base form, but there's a catch: Where any human to transit into this universe by a similar method, their own mythologies and histories usually include werewolves and the magic could pattern the visitor after the visitor's native Archana-canid Sapiens. Equestria has no such being in its history or legends.
But there is one intelligent species in Equestria that is quite common and has the traits in its biology, social structure, and power dynamic to match the human world.
Sunset must navigate an unfamiliar world in a strange body that seems to be betraying her at every turn, and Celestia must deal with challenges never before faced by an Alpha to keep her pack members and the secret to Sunset's unique nature hidden from the world. A generational ship glides slowly through space, abandoned. Aboard is a single piece of technology that doesn't appear to belong, and that is a portal. 1,000 years after the last person went through, two beings stumble out. Adora, She-ra of Etheria, and Catra, Force Captain and second in command to Hordak. They put their differences aside to investigate the ship, but before they get too far, the portal opens again disgorging two more people; Adora, captain-in-training under her mother Mara, and Catra, technician and former terrorist of The Horde. Soon more variants of Catra and Adora come through, but none of them can go back. They're on an abandoned ship full of mysteries, but the biggest question for all of them is; "How will we get home?"

Catra just wanted to help Adora. The idiot had gotten her head clonked during an unauthorized excursion to the Whispering Woods and now wouldn’t shut up about a sword. When they were caught in the halls trying to sneak out, Shadow Weaver caught them and found a trace of old First Ones marked magic acting as a pull to get Adora into the Woods again. The old sorceress wouldn’t let her golden child out of her sight, of course, so she whipped up some magic and applied it to a broken training harness so the First Ones magitech would think Catra was Adora, and sent her in Adora’s place to retrieve the sword. Now an apparent malfunction caused by the sword’s magic merging with the harness’ makeshift magic has bonded both to Catra, and she’s now able to turn into a 9-foot tall warrior woman. She’s more prone to bumbling about like a demented raptor lizard than Adora!
