Summary
“Did I see the pirate leaving?” Regina asks. Some of the usual vitriol that she directs toward Killian is missing from her voice.
Emma clears her throat and shakes her head a little, trying to bring herself back to the present. “Yeah, um. He’s leaving town, I think.”
Regina’s eyes narrow as she processes the information, and Emma watches as she makes a solid but ultimately futile attempt to hide the way her eyes brighten at the news.
“I’m sorry?”
Emma smiles a little at that. “You don’t have to act like you’re upset about it, Regina.”
Regina bites back a smirk. “Good, because I’m certain that I wouldn’t succeed.”

Summary

One morning she falls through a portal to the Enchanted Forest, only to find that she's stuck living and dying the same day over and over. Years ago, something in the timeline went terribly wrong and to get back to her family, she has to set things right.

“Regina, I don’t know jack shit about horses or any of this, but Henry seems to like it and, well, you used to be a horse girl or whatever, so…”
“Excuse me, I was not a horse girl,” Regina interrupts, annoyed. Emma looks pointedly at Regina’s dusty suit, covered in horse hair, and her borrowed boots and quirks an eyebrow.
“Equestrian. Whatever.” Emma shrugs. “Anyway, he seems happy. Maybe this is something you guys can bond over.”

Season 2 AU, diverging from canon when Emma and Mary Margaret return from the Enchanted Forest. It’s basically "The Cricket Game," but with less murder, more horses, and no Cora.

Emma was getting married. Married, to that ridiculous, filthy pirate. Married, with a ring and a dress and too many flowers. Married, despite the vision she kept having of her death— or maybe because of it.
The threat of the Savior’s death loomed heavy over the town, the Black Fairy and Gideon lurking in the mines. And underneath it all was Regina, trying her best to keep her mouth shut and be the rock that Emma needed. If that meant that she buried her feelings and dealt with the heartbreak that came from watching Emma walk down an aisle into someone else’s arms, so be it. She had to keep it together, because if she let herself want… then everything would come crumbling down on top of her, and Emma would get hurt in the process. She had done it for six years… what was a lifetime more?

"Three days later, Regina is officially a “subletter” in an apartment across the street from Emma and Henry’s building. She forces herself to wait a full day before calling the cell phone number Emma had given her. Regina’s more than a little disgruntled to get Emma’s voicemail, but remembers just in time not to snap at her and ask why the city is paying for an unavailable sheriff to go gallivanting around town without her cell phone. Instead, she leaves a perfectly reasonable message telling Emma she’s rented a place nearby and would love a tour of the neighborhood if she and Henry could spare the time.
Emma texts back later that day to suggest the following evening, and Regina feels her heart soar at the prospect of seeing Henry again so soon. She still hasn’t quite figured out how to broach the whole “magic is real, and I need you two to come with me to a small, not-quite-real town in Maine to stop my half-sister from wreaking havoc,” but that will come in due time she hopes. For now, what matters is making sure that Henry is safe and happy and well fed."
