It is no secret that Hueningkai has a better grasp of the present day’s “trends” when compared to his hyungs. As expected to be the youngest of the five (even though Taehyun is only a few months older than Hueningkai, the older rather has a mentality of a grandpa sometimes). Advanced knowledge in Tik Tok, Twitter, technology as a whole, which only meant that he has also encountered fanfics created by MOAs. And surprisingly, he does not discover these forms of writings as uncomfortable but rather interesting.

Where Hueningkai of Tomorrow by Together loves to read fanfics for fun. These stories range from ships of himself with other members or members with another member. Clearly having a mindset that this is fiction and not reality. But for some reason, he can’t bring himself to read any stories that specifically center around shipping a member with this particular member. That member being Kang Taehyun himself.

Like a hypothetical record scratch, everyone goes silent. Wonwoo’s voice trails off and he blinks and looks over at chat, which is full of WHAT? and ?????
“Repeat that one more time, but slower,” Chan suggests.
“An interview came out with Kim Mingyu, the ace hitter of the Olympic men’s volleyball team,” Seungkwan says slowly. “And he’s a fan of Wonwoo hyung. Like, a huge fan.”

It takes Wonwoo a moment to realize Mingyu’s talking to him. He looks up again, and finds Mingyu already looking back. “I don’t think so,” he answers. “Why?”
Mingyu shrugs, but Wonwoo thinks he can see the tips of his ears turn red. “I don’t want a repeat of, uh, last time.”
Seokmin laughs. “Oh, you mean when you hooked up with someone right in front of him?” he says gleefully. “And you didn’t realize he was there until-”
“I was there, you know,” Mingyu tells him. “You don’t have to remind me.”(or: mingyu makes the worst first impression in the history of first impressions. wonwoo just wants to maintain plausible deniability.)

Mingyu has been happily single for all 23 years of his life, but one day his family asks him to try finally dating around. With no real reasons to refuse, he begrudgingly agrees and finds out that dating is much harder than he previously thought. Why does he keep finding flaws in perfectly good and impressive people? Why does he not know what he himself is looking for? And why does his sister keep texting him “...”?
For as long as he can remember, Wonwoo has been madly and hopelessly in love with his all-but-flawless best friend. When Mingyu finally starts to date around, he has little choice but to sweep his personal feelings under the rug and hope they go away. Simple. Well, except that he has already been doing that for 12 years, of course.
