She grips his wrist with trembling fingers and does not let go – not when Shadowsan tries to pull her away, not when ACME floods into the room, not when first Julia and then Devineaux wake up while Gray remains unmoving on the floor. Through it all, she holds onto Gray, still and silent as he never was in life, and waits for a heartbeat that never comes.
