And it’s what he repeats to himself as while he continues to stare out the window, polishing off the last of his whisky, his eyes catch strange movement deeper into the forest. Something shrouded in shadow, moving in a way that’s far too slow to be any of the prey animals that are most common in the woods.
Something that doesn’t even catch the light of the moon.
Something big.
OR: When Johnny moves out to the coast to fix up his grandmother's old cottage to sell, he isn't expecting to fall in love with the place—or the mysterious, fluffy guardian of the surrounding forest.

Ghost doesn’t have anything against hybrids. He rarely ever thinks of ‘em in all honesty. They’re not allowed to enlist, and at a young age he chose to make the military his quasi-home.
He’s also not exactly out here championing for their equality either. Merely because Ghost isn’t in the business to know shit about anything that doesn’t pertain to himself these days.
Everything changes when he's walking home one night, and he finds an exhausted, sleeping hybrid curled against his front door.

Summary
The last remains of Simon Riley died the day Roach did and Ghost swore to himself he would never let anyone close again. He buried himself in solo missions, gladly losing all of his humanity in the blood he was bathing in, refusing to work in teams. He was doing fine until an order came from General Shepherd, one he could not disobey, and he was forced to team up with a Demolition Specialist who ran on Duracell batteries and was set on invading his personal space whenever he had the chance. Life had always been cruel to Simon but he never thought it would mock him with having to keep one more Sergeant alive.

He looked at the back of Kabru's head, with its gorgeous curly, dark hair, and he decided that he would do whatever he had to in order to keep him by his side.
Laios inched just a bit closer. He wanted to at least catch a glimpse of Kabru's profile, his long eyelashes and soft, slightly parted lips, and the rest of his body, hands curled up on his chest, almost perfectly flat belly, legs bent at the knee, smooth skin covered in thick, dark hair. He had never seen anybody else who looked like this, and he could never get enough of the sight. Kabru was beautiful in an almost otherworldly way. Laios caught himself wondering how he would look in ten, twenty years.
