Magic flowed strangely around the qilin. It wasn't suppressed but it didn't react to a wizard or witch's will as expected. The large male towered above the rest. His mane was a brilliant fire-like red that glinted gold where the sun hit it, while his scales were a deep blue with silver-tipped edges. He looked straight into Severus's eyes, and then with a shimmer of light, between one blink and the next, the entire herd disappeared.
