“A-”, Favaro chokes forth, body twisting as mild cramps befall it like earlier, “Az… azel.” His head falls forward involuntarily in pain and only now he notices the long, black tail between his legs. Yet again, his hazed mind can barely process any of this, so all he can do is stare at it, expression near horror. Purple liquid beads from his mouth as his jaw drops and down into the dust. Is it a potion? Or venom as he thought? In the end it doesn't matter because his body seems to try and reject it with every little bit of energy it has left.
The demon turns to him and gets close, towering over his pathetic figure. However, no reaction from Favaro; he's in shock and seering pain. “I see you've survived-”, Azazel observes (yeah, no shit; Favaro wishes he didn't), “-yet again.”

Summary
Enki Ankarian is a misanthropic loser with a chip on his shoulder and an anime figurine collection that cost him about $7,000. He has no friends to speak of, no family that wants to talk to him, and nothing going for himself outside of a well-paying job in software development he tolerates because it enables him to collect more items of interest. He is depressed, he cannot stop drinking, and he hates himself and those around him.
So, after a night of binge-drinking and bad food, Enki finds himself kneeling on a piss-stained bathroom tile floor and puking his guts up. What would be most people's low point was just another Friday for him. That is, until a stranger came to give him comfort, unintentionally changing his life's trajectory forever.
Ragnvaldr is a personal trainer and infuriatingly kind person who reaches out to Enki in his time of need. Despite initially appearing to have little in common, the two connect and become friends, spending several nights a week together talking about life, death, childhood, and what it means to be a person. Enki is smitten nearly immediately - and despises himself for it. There is no way this beautiful, kind person would ever want anything to do with him - right?
