“Remus, are you alright?”
It was a stupid question, of course. As a rule, Remus didn’t collapse on his doorstep smelling of blood and disease when he was alright. He’d stand there, hands in his pockets, not quite meeting Sirius’s eye, half a smile on his face, forehead creased in a frown. Sirius would give him an equally ambiguous smile, trying not to look too happy, trying not to look as if a monochrome world had just burst into full colour. He’d touch an arm to Remus’s shoulder and ask how he’d been, and Remus would shrug, eyes flicking up to meet Sirius’s and then away again. It was agony, but Sirius would have given anything to be experiencing one of their awkward, painful greetings, instead of seeing the man he loved, semi-conscious and bleeding, on Alphard’s hall rug.

Her belief is tested, however, when she gets assigned Sirius Black's case. Having to listen to his lies herself is one thing, but she can't let him hurt Remus even more than he already has.Uses Emmeline's perspective, but focuses heavily on the relationship between Sirius and Remus.
