Tommy laughed, a forced sound much too sharp to be the usual tilting laughter everyone knew the boy for.
“Humans are given the choice, and Every. Single. Time. People choose to hurt. Humans are just the monsters that escape the bounds of nightmares. So no, Wilbur. I’m not coming. Fuck you.”

Wilbur draws in Tommy impossibly closer, ignoring Tommy’s clawing attempts at escape.
“Don’t worry about Them,” Wilbur comforted. Maybe it would be comforting if not for the tears streaming down his face. “They can’t hurt you anymore, you’re gonna be Alive again.”
That, Tommy thinks, is exactly the problem
