Summary
With the house coming down and it taking away everything they’d once known, in some ways, it was a marking of the end of being Pogues. When they got back from South America, they’d come back with all the gold they could have ever dreamed of. They were going full Kook.
But it didn’t matter what they got, what they’d buy, or where they’d live. The Chateau they’d always remember as their home, and Pogue was a title that ran through their blood. They may have all the money in the world but they could never be Kooks if they tried.

Or, during the fire, a flashback of how Kiara got her ukulele stops her escape forcing them all to scrutinize what really matters as the Chateau burns away.

Summary
Her parents sent her here to keep her away from him but the one thing they didn’t realize in their perfectly schemed plan was that it would be the straw that broke the camel’s back. The straw that overflowed a cup that had been spilling over the edges.
It only showed them that there was no way he was ever going to let her go anywhere, not without him by her side, her exasperated face as he mentioned his next crazy scheme. He’d break any lock of any door to find her and she’d always come running as she did down that dock.

Summary
As he reached where she was sitting, he shifted down using his palms slowly resting beside her. He tucked his knees cross-legged and waited for her to move in his presence but she didn’t seem startled by him at all.
“I want to be alone,” she declared though, with a firm edge to it at that.
