Summary
An old FIA rule says that unmated omegas aren't allowed to race in any category of motorsport.
Because of that, Charles Leclerc has been hiding as a beta since he first presented as an omega-until a breakthrough heat destroys how hard he's worked and reveals his designation.
Ferrari, facing a major loss in sponsorship money, offer him a choice: leave Ferrari and motorsport forever, or agree to an invite only auction for the rights to mate him, with proceeds filling the hole in the budget.
Charles comes up with a plan to save himself, get an alpha he trusts, get Ferrari's money back, and keep his seat.
Unfortunately, Max Verstappen comes up with a plan, too.

Summary
The easy way to execute his plan was to ask Seb to assume the role he was thinking of. The man would easily agree to it too, not without a few teasing remarks, but he would regardless. Seb fits the standards, and Lewis’ poorly-hidden attraction for him back in their younger years certainly wouldn’t hurt their story.
But, Lewis treasures Seb as a friend. He’s his only rival whose championship battle didn’t ruin them together, and he wants to keep that for as long as he can. He is not going to risk his relationship with the younger man just to get back at Nico, not when it’s one of the few things he values more than his pride (and isn’t that a rarity.)
Besides, Lewis was never known for taking the easy way.
Therefore, Max Verstappen.

With Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari and the sudden return of Nico Rosberg, the entire grid thought there was nothing else that could surprise them this 2025 season. They thought wrong.
