    Sometimes, when Izuku allows himself to comprehend the sick reality of his life, he finds that it no longer resembles the roots from which he sprouts. He is a fickle rose bush that was cared for and raised and coddled in its early seasons by a loving mother, growing strong, interwoven roots and a reliable base. And, Izuku thinks, he would have been a lovely rose bush. He would have flourished and unfurled and oh wouldn't that have been nice?

    Instead, along came Bakugou Katsuki: vegetation killer in a compatibly sized spray bottle.

    But this is the life Izuku has. It is ugly and broken and unrecognizable and so unbearably his and, god, how Izuku wishes it wasn't. But it is. So he makes his peace.

    Nedzu tasks Aizawa Shouta to investigate some oddities amongst the staff at Aldera Middle School. However, due to said oddities amongst the staff, it's unwise to slip Shouta in as a transfer teacher. Thanks to a temporary physical age regression quirk, Shouta is primed to go undercover as a student at Aldera with two objects in mind: figure out the discrepancies in the staff and keep the only Quirkless student at Aldera, Midoriya Izuku, safe.

    Deeply unimpressed at having to be fourteen again, even physically, Shouta finds an unexpected kinship with the kid. While he tries to keep Midoriya safe and solve the cast, Shouta ends up rediscovering some things along the way as well. Whether it's setting a bully on the path of redemption or reigniting his love of heroics, Midoriya Izuku and Aizawa Shouta are about to change each other's lives for the better.

    Against all odds, Izuku loves heroes. It doesn’t matter that he’s spent his entire life with villains, the real kind, not just regular criminals but actual genuine villains. It doesn’t matter that no heroes have ever come to save him. It doesn’t matter that they probably wouldn’t save someone like him. Izuku still loves heroes.

    He’s not blind to the irony of his situation. He has wings that cannot carry him to freedom, teeth and claws that he cannot wield against those who hurt him, and speed in the air and on foot that takes him nowhere. All he can do is manage disobedience where he can. Injure, don’t kill. If he can injure people instead of killing them, it’s something. It’s the closest Izuku will ever get to being a hero.

    Until one day, on what should be a routine mission, everything changes.

    The battle against Shigaraki and All For One goes awry, but instead of meeting his end, Midoriya Izuku wakes up back as a middle school student on the fateful day he gets his dreams crushed and rebuilt all in the space of an hour.

    With One For All humming in his veins (albeit almost completely muted since he is back to his previous noodle self), and a second chance to do things over, Izuku decides to do things better, while giving zero shits to anything and anyone.

    He will do whatever it takes to prevent the impending apocalyptic shitshow, even if it means grabbing the nearest chair and beating reality to death in the process.
