Summary
Pope watches JJ pull himself back onto the boat, water sliding in rivulets down his back. “That’s a primo rig,” he’s saying, still catching his breath, glancing past Pope to eye the silhouette of the Grady-White down below.
“Yeah,” John B’s nodding, “that’s the boat I saw when I surfed the surge.”
Pope’s reached the boat now, and it rocks as he heaves himself up the hull. Not even looking, JJ finds Pope’s forearm and helps pull him over. Then he glances at Pope, just quickly, and pulls back. He shakes the water off his hand like it’s acid.
So things definitely aren’t normal.
OR: The first season of Outer Banks, with a little less excitement. Except for that thing that happened at the Fourth of July party, but-- yeah, Pope’s not talking about it. He’s kind of trying to erase it from his brain, actually.
