Summary
“It’s his wallet,” he tries to counteract, but Shiro clicks his tongue, turning the wallet in his hands.
“It’s not.” It’s the same leather of his own, with the same corners falling apart from the use. It’s not his, is Shiro’s.
But then he opens it and there is an ID there that isn’t Shiro’s, the photo showing the man’s face, maybe a little younger. Shiro frowns and looks at the name, reading ‘Keith Shirogane’ along with his general information.
Shiro blinks, and then looks up at the man — Keith — finding him still averting his gaze with a mortified blush on his cheeks.
“You’re a Shirogane,” Shiro whispers, unbelieving.
“Uh,” Keith mutters, the other guy already long gone, “Kind of.”

When it was just him turning feelings round in his head, that was one thing, wasn't it? But it's Edwin who looks at him out of the corner of his eye now, when he thinks Charles isn't looking. And it's Edwin who goes stiff when Charles touches him and then melts into it. And it's Edwin who gets all prissy and properly defensive when he's trying to cover up he's been staring.
And if it was just Charles, well, he's been fighting down the way his chest goes sort of fluttery every time Edwin touches him for about three decades, hasn't he?
But it's not just Charles anymore, is the thing.

Shiro can feel it in the very way that his bones begin to snap and his skin begins to burn. Feels it in the liquid heat of his blood as it begins to pour and the ache of his breath as he tries to breathe around fire. Mostly, he feels it in the way his energy begins to seep from his limbs as his fingers lose grip of Black’s controls.
