In the long list of rules that Dream gave him, there were four that stuck out as the most important. Four rules that he could never break.
Stick close to the island when swimming. Always be back before seven. Never complain or hesitate to give Dream his pelt. And never, ever interact with humans.
Tommy didn’t break any of those rules often, and if he did it was a one time thing, a mistake. But this wasn’t a mistake. This was a very deliberate, very stupid move on his part and Dream would kill him if he knew what Tommy was doing. Fifteen years Tommy had lived here, and never once had he intentionally broken one of Dream’s rules. Until now.
He swims closer to the three humans.

so tommy’s a selkie. the scottish myth that is both a seal and a person; who can transform from person to seal by wrapping oneself in their pelt!
their pelt is Very Important to them and if:
• a selkie is separated from it
• someone touches their pelt (non-consensually)
• their pelt is destroyed/damaged
• their pelt is kept from them for too long
BAD THINGS. NOT GOOD. B A D .anyway tommy’s a selkie and his mum died and he ended up in dream’s care.
well, it started off as care. then shit happened and now dream’s a fucking psychopath!oh and technoblade, wilbur, and phil are a family! kristen is Dead. so phil decides to organise a six month trip to work at a lighthouse together in the middle of nowhere!
this is because they aren’t even family anymore, and when kristen died, it fell apart even more because she was the glue (barely) holding them together!
so phil decided he wanted to fix his family by Forced Proximity!anyway that failed, but then some random and strange child appeared briefly.
then some random and strange seal appeared.
he stayed for a while.
then the random and strange child reappeared.
he stayed for longer!
(but will he be able to just stay?)anyway, tldr:
dream’s a little psychotic bitch boy and has tommy in a horrible little cabin in the middle of nowhere like a pet (he abuses and manipulates and lies to). sbi try and help (and of course, the three fiancés and gog).~
left off at:
sbi find out that tommy’s a selkie after they storm the cabin with tommy to find his pelt (which gets briefly burnt by dream chucking it in the fireplace).
tommy passes out from the Shock and Stress.
phil gets Fucking Shot as he took the bullet for tommy, because dream was literally going to shoot him.
technoblade gets briefly Fucked Up by dream as well.
anyway phil’s actually fine and Not Actually Dying!they’re just waiting for tommy to wake up while treating his wounds, and of course processing what the fuck is going on!

Summary
The royal family of Antarctic empire isn’t exactly close.
Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn’t seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, their relationship can be described to be strained at best.
The royal family doesn’t need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads – as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It’s the principle that held Tommy’s back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father’s gaze would look past him and where his brother’s words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
At that time, Tommy couldn't know that his family would find a replacement for him in the face of a commoner boy named Ranboo.

Summary
Tommy has a secret. No one knows. Not the nice lady at the corner store, not the weird guy at the video game store, not Tubbo, and certainly not any of his housemates. He's an alien, sent to study Earth. It's not easy, keeping that secret when he's living with three humans, but he can do it, he's sure.
Wilbur has a secret. He's not told a soul and never intends to . He's an alien, sent to study humans on Earth, so that his people can make first official contact. It's not easy hiding what he truly is, especially when it comes to his three human housemates.
Technoblade has a secret. He's very good at keeping it, but sometimes it's... difficult, around his three human housemates. Loathe as he is to admit it, Technoblade cares about them, and perhaps even feels guilt over his lies. His race wants him to determine whether or not Earth is an ally or an invasion site. But, for the sake of his people and new friends, he will keep his secret.
Phil does not have a secret. He has never, once in his life, kept his mouth shut, even when Puffy tells him to. It's not his fault no one else believes aliens exist. At least his new housemates, normal as they are, seem to tolerate it better than the last guys.
