[Lights up on an office. Large mahogany desk, chair that swivels, a carpet that toes the line of comfortable and fancy. It is part biblical confessional, part reality TV confessional. Appearance wise, though, it resembles your run-of-the-mill political office.]
[Sitting in the chair that swivels is JSCHLATT. PRESIDENT JSCHLATT, to be clear about it. He looks almost exactly the same as he does in the large portrait of him on the back wall. In Schlatt’s dominant hand is a whiskey glass. With the other, he taps the large microphone that sits on top of the mahogany desk.
He knows he has an audience--conceptually, that is. He is the president, after all.]SCHLATT:
That good-for-nothing kid will never be the president.all the world's a debate stage. the candidates are only the players.

It feels like yesterday when he was learning how to build the most optimal fire for the cold; hell, it feels like yesterday when he was agreeing to be Ren’s marketing manager in the first place. But today, Martyn is wiping the last remnants of blood off the Red Winter Axe next to the fire, hunched over in deep concentration. Anything to not have to look at the ruler-fit man he’d followed out here on a thinly-laid whim, really.

Summary
Well. You went to L’manberg, or the ashes of what were left behind, shovel in hand, and dug him up yourself. Dream was gone now, nobody cared about the process. Even your own actions just months before felt like eons ago. The process doesn’t matter; he’s a body in the ground, and then he’s not.
The fact of the matter is, you weren’t thinking that maybe after everything was over and you actually got him back, there would be some permanent consequences.

He’d joked to Karl, back then, that he felt like a pet as much as a boyfriend— like an expensive teacup dog you carried around in a handbag, a well-behaved little creature that you taught about whiskey distilleries and then fucked until he cried.
And he’d liked it, too. After all, he had it made, right? All his problems taken care of by a man who adored him, a sexy older guy with a nice big dick that worked and a mouth he knew how to use.
When Schlatt first involved himself in arrangements for Quackity’s surgery, it had twinged a little bit sure, but mostly it had felt benignly inevitable. Schlatt demanded only the best for himself, and wasn’t that a good thing?
The truth of it is, Quackity was never going to say “no.” The truth is, he never considered it.
