    Summary

Even when repaired by a good MedSystem (and Perihelion’s MedSystem was very good), a human body that has been damaged is not completely restored to its previous integrity.
Was SecUnit any different? Perihelion’s scans had surprisingly revealed no evidence of past physical traumas.

Or: ART confronts the way its friend's body gets broken and made new again.

Right, so. Amena's comparisons to human relationship milestones aside (ugh), I did in fact know that if I was going to act as security on ART's next mission, I would have to get to know its humans better. And not just by watching them through ART's secret cameras while running media in the background- I had to actually, really, talk with them. In person. Face to face.

    Summary

"Exile still seems the best option, Stoick..."

Stoick should have known better. While he didn't know much about his son-especially now-he knew the boy was clever. It should have been no surprise when a guard burst into the Council Meeting and revealed that Hiccup had escaped the cell Stoick put him in...hours after the boy was revealed to have saddled a dragon.

Hiccup is gone, and so is the beast.

They search, but do not find him. Berk falls asleep one night and awakens in the Great Hall, where the torches come to life and cast an image of their isle on the wall, from which floats Hiccup's voice, years younger.

AKA, Hiccup forfeited the final challenge, leaving Astrid with the right to kill the Nightmare. Story picks up in the Race to the Edge era, except Berk never learned the truth of dragons, no one knows how Hiccup really lost his leg, and stories of a hooded 'vigilante' riding a Night Fury have been long whispered...and Berk will see it all unfold.

Stoick the Vast and Berk watch How to Train Your Dragon...and beyond.

    Summary

"ART loved its crew. The joy and the love and perfect clarity with what it was supposed to be, what it was supposed to do. ART couldn’t understand how someone could dislike their function - how I could. Once, I had a similar clarity of understanding with my function, then I hacked my governor module and left the company for good, and I had lost it all. It was better, now, in a lot of ways. I had my humans, and ART, and our crew. But in some ways, things were worse.
I still wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do, ever. I had made one good decision, to stay with ART, a few years ago, and I had been just making the same decision over and over again. It felt kind of like cheating."

A 20-some year fic in which Murderbot comes to terms with what it means to have a home (or two), a found family (or several), and just what mutual administrative assistance can entail.
