    Odysseus was sinking.

    He had lost, right at the end of his journey. He was plummeting towards the bottom of the sea, the hands of the fallen dragging him downwards.

    Until, suddenly, he fell through.

    Or

    Odysseus appears on a bus alongside three demigods right at the start of their first quest. Finding himself with a strange tie to one of them, and no way to get home, there wasn't much else to do other than follow along.
